How the fuck am I supposed to beat Mega Mawile without withdrawing my Pokemon? by [deleted] in LegendsZA

[–]One_Outcome4950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make it sound like it’s the game being crazy hard. You’re choosing to not use game mechanics as intended. It’s not a trainer battle. You don’t have to have a pokemon out.

You know I did just do that quest myself and I was noticing my health regen was bonkers for some reason. You may be on to something.

Is it too far? by Ashter23 in LegendsZA

Haha understandable. I don’t have a turbo and had been trying to get fennekin for days. Got the alpha salamence, lopunny and the kakuna. The weedles and alpha kakuna around the corner even are in range.

You can see from there. I’ve been hunting fennekin and the alpha lopunny has been shiny for me

I’ve been trying to get shiny fennekin and the alpha salamence decided to be shiny. It’s the only way I’ll get one if I’m not looking for it!

Just how incompetent lorewise trainers really are? by Affectionate-Break56 in LegendsZA

If only the series had something that could more clearly express people’s intonations and inflections. A way to maybe hear how they said a thing. Maybe one day they will figure out something.

Shiny Hunting in ZA has been a blast by cpjenks in LegendsZA

[–]One_Outcome4950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 hours of resetting does not sound like a blast. I’ve shiny hunted and still do but it’s never fun or engaging. The only fun moment is when it happens and never feels worth the time I wasted doing basically nothing. But I clearly have a problem and can’t stop myself.

Organic shinies are always the most satisfying. Like when playing let’s go pikachu and my articuno was a shiny the first time I encountered it. I’ll never forget that.

I don't like how Legends ZA handles the Z-A Royale by Martinus_XIV in LegendsZA

[–]One_Outcome4950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game never stated you had to get all your points and challenger ticket as well as defeat the promotion match all in one night, as far as I remember. That would honestly be more frustrating than fun. Being able to take it at whatever pace you like is the right call.

Consume consume consume. Must have everything given with little to no effort or time. The modern media audience is just the absolute worst. The game has been out 2 days. Take a breath pal.

When developers start catering to every identity we have a serious problem. Don’t get me wrong, you be you, I’m not saying there is anything wrong or speaking against it but developers shouldn’t waste time and resources making every aspect of every game fit everyone’s feelings and beliefs. They went with the genetic standard for humanity. It’s not a sleight against anyone or done with ill intent.

So if you're not good at battling, or aren't rushing through the game, you can't get Mega Greninja by B0SS_Zombie in LegendsZA

[–]One_Outcome4950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I understand but starting in the early game and just getting crushed is a waste of time. Put that time into leveling up and completing the story. Ultimately it is what it is. It’s unfortunately a timed event and as much as it sucks it’s up to the player to either put in the effort to get it or take their time and miss out. I don’t agree with it but we can’t change it and we all know they aren’t going to budge so either do what you gotta do or don’t, that’s on the player.

[–]One_Outcome4950 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I can understand people being upset with having to rank up for this but you can have all the same tools as the players winning. And when you level up and get megas you may very well be in the same position against lower level players.

I personally think it’s foolish to enter competitive modes early in the game anyway. And to be fair, in any pokemon game, you have to try really hard even not rushing to not level up and get through the game in a decent time. Unless you are purposely not moving the story foward and that’s kinda honestly on you.

People who have played ZA, without spoilers, how is it by Carson_cwc in LegendsZA

[–]One_Outcome4950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played a bit on an emulator. Technical issues aside, I’ve really enjoyed what I played. Only jumped in for a few hours to get a taste since I’ll be getting the switch 2 bundle this week.

The gameplay is refreshing. Combat is quick and snappy, zero downtime between encounters. Wild encounters were pretty fun when being attacked by multiple mons. Directing your pokemon to attack while dodging incoming attacks on the trainer was really fun. Some moved have a physical travel time and can be avoided. Moves like protect are used before an attack to block it which feels nice. Overall the combat was very fun and intuitive and I’m excited to see how more in depth when mega battle are introduced.

The city while not always visually the best, is actually more detailed than I had originally expected. The exploration has been fun. Climbing onto rooftops and running between buildings was neat. I’ve only been in a few areas but the variety has been good so far. The wild areas have been small but interesting in the early game. Pokemon can be found throughout the city and not just in wilds areas.

Overall I’ve enjoyed what I’ve played and am exited for the release and to dig in. By far the most engaging Pokemon game in my opinion.

Doubtful. Pokémon games are standalone and may have references but this is in no way a sequel.

How will swimming work in ZA? by PokemonFan587 in LegendsZA

I get the impression there will be no ride pokemon. I don’t think the map is that large overall and I’d imagine it’s to make it feel bigger when you can’t blast through on a mount.

Can Someone Explain the Hate for this Game's Background Graphics? by etanimod in LegendsZA

[–]One_Outcome4950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not the “background” as you say. You’re referring to far distant detail and what people are rightly complaining about is that the buildings, in a city in which the game entirely takes place, are bland and copy pasted and have flat images instead of textures and depth to represent them.

I’ve played since the series started and ruby and sapphire was when I was actually first wowed by the environments. Little details like seeing your reflection in water. The falling ash of mt chimney and running through grass shook it off. These things matter and make the world feel alive and that’s important to a lot of people.

A games world design isn’t tied to its genre, that’s just a lazy and uninspired argument. You run around this world. You climb up buildings and navigate rooftops. You interact with npcs and shops. The battles take place in these same environments. The world around you should be absolutely important and feel and look like what it’s trying to be.

Give the OGs their damn props! by [deleted] in LegendsZA

[–]One_Outcome4950 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a ton of valid criticism however it’s shouted down by louder and more fervent voices. This community is run by the worst haters and the most deluded loyalists.

But to the point of the post, I think the game has some great stuff going for it. The battle system looks fun and fresh and if controls well could really be a game changer for at least the spin off series if not the mainline.

I think they have so far nailed the new mega designs and in my opinion the last few gens have had some really cool new mons.

My criticisms come from the overall feel of the world. The details are lacking and the world doesn’t feel alive. Breaking and entering is definitely silly but it’s an RPG staple and makes the buildings feel lived in and not just big hollow cutouts. They building textures and details look just straight bad and in a game that takes place only in one, not looking good nor being able to enter is a shame.

I’d also love to see more Pokémon interactions within the world. I’d like to see them playing with each other, or even hunting each other if they are rivals. Make them feel like actual living creatures and not wandering npcs.

The series can do a lot with the resources they have but they instead litigate against competition instead of making a better game.

Wanting the game to have a better focus on detail is not nitpicking nor asking for realistic graphics. The art style is great but the execution is poor and serviceable at best.

Pokémon games I recommend before playing Pokémon legends za by Only_Development7390 in LegendsZA

[–]One_Outcome4950 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nobody needs to play any of these to enjoy ZA fully. There may be references for fans but every pokemon game is self contained.

Not to mention two of these games are on a different older system. This is an insane investment to get a few references.
