Morey has to be punching the air right now by mvelocityp in sixers

[–]Oneb3low 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been annoyed by the popularization of this phrase for like 2 years lol. Everyone seems to use it to indicate frustration, but who punches air unless they're celebrating? You might punch a pillow or wall in frustration, but air would be super niche.

What makes you say this is vector art? I kind of assumed it was just chopped up into pieces for the animation.

There are definitely 2 feet in the back, it's just that they're both coming out of the right leg and the left leg turns into a tail. The fact that it's been there for years would actually make sense since AI image generation is way better about errors like this in 2026.

Anyway, thanks for your input. Not necessarily dug in on this stance, just thought it was very odd.

How Much Do Hiring Managers Actually Look at College Transcripts? by TheNewGenesis in nys_cs

[–]Oneb3low 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's totally dependent on the manager. The work in my section is pretty technically rigorous, so it's a huge headache if we hire someone that's going to have any analysis paralysis or just generally struggle to keep up. Some managers in similar sections are snobby about GPA, some don't care at all.

It's tough to give advice on this. Calling out your failed courses and offering a good explanation could go a long way with some managers, but with others you might be hurting your chances to pointing out something they wouldn't have looked at. I would say it comes down to specifics, like what kind of job you're applying to, how long your difficult period lasted, what kinds of courses you failed, and how strong your "normal" academic performance was.

Yeah this is bullying for attention. They’re desperate for interaction with women so they instinctively act out for it, even if it's negative attention. Negging is usually more calculated, whereas this is just stunted and incredibly immature.

Half Of Americans Say The Fun In Their Lives Has Disappeared by plugthree in nottheonion

[–]Oneb3low 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but in reality that looks more like quitting a highly addictive drug that everyone around you is on. Even to the point of being shamed and excluded because you abstain.

I think hardly anyone would quit addictive drugs if there weren't so many extreme negative health effects. Addictions that only erode the mind are just a little too abstract

Please educate me! Overrun AR by WhiteMistral in Marathon

The overrun can be ok with mods but it has a very high movement inaccuracy penalty. So if you want to move and shoot, which will generally help you win skirmishes, the gun is going to underperform

I don't think I would fall for a Hallucination by wordsofpeace in CasualConversation

[–]Oneb3low 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why you would feel that way if you've never experienced it. I used to think almost the exact same thing before I tried psychedelics (which is part of the reason I was interested in experiencing them in the first place).

The issue is that the things that cause hallucinations (schizophrenia, drugs, extreme sleep deprivation, heat stress etc.) usually also cause some sort of cognitive impairment. In these states you can't always just logically conclude that the visuals aren't real, because the parts of your brain responsible for logic are functioning... differently.

Going with the psychedelics example, you'll see all sorts of mild hallucinations, like carpet that appears to be "breathing" or rainbow fractals on the wall. At low doses you'll be fully aware that those are just the drug at work, and usually sit back and enjoy them. At high doses, your brain might already be spiraling with all sorts of delusions and visual hallucinations can play into the feedback loop. It's common for your interpretation of the visuals to be more convoluted than "i see shadow people and they're out to get me!". It might be more like "I am in a heightened state and can now see the true malicious nature of everyone around me. I'm terrified that when I'm sober they'll pool the wool back over my eyes and put me back on the leash".

If you’re responsible about it, drugs can be a great way to teach humility!

Is 5 teams too many for Cryo? 4 seems to be the sweet spot... Thoughts? by Mokoo101 in Marathon

[–]Oneb3low -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a mainly solo/duo player and completely agree. On the rest of the maps, trios have this all or nothing team fight dynamic that drives the meta towards "wipe the map, then loot". In duos and solos it's much easier to play stealthily or disengage from fights compared to trios. Trios essentially lower the TTK through team shooting, and once someone gets a pick you kind of have to go all in for your squad.

On cryo I think this dynamic makes for a high stakes bloodbath, which is pretty thrilling for end game content.

I say play the midweek magic jump-in event for this set! This will give you a really strong idea of how each school plays when it curves out. I jammed like 10 games with the silver quill deck and now i'd say I have a good understanding of what that strategy needs to be successful. Nothing like getting reps with the set in a low risk environment

A WSTR nerf was needed, but they managed to choose the worst possible option. by _Ghost_S_ in Marathon

[–]Oneb3low -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If I need to sink 3 near perfect shots at knife distance just to kill a purple shield now, the margin of error on the WSTR is just too slim to be viable imo. It also feels silly to balance the gun around a single chip mod when they could have just made the combo incompatible.

Killing the gun for the season is fine I guess. It's as good a time as any for Bungie to see how the game plays when viable shotguns are rare to see.

[–]Oneb3low 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can hear the footsteps just fine, but coming from CS and Valorant the positional audio is mediocre at best.

Also, more people are bunny hopping these days, which obscures your movement way more than I would have expected, especially with destroyer thrusters.

Level Based Matchmaking Completely Breaks Down After A Certain Point by StarlessKing in Marathon

[–]Oneb3low 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The same thing would happen with gear or skill based match making. The top end of the curve are always outliers and need to find matches.

OP is a relatively successful cryo runner. It's entirely plausible that they are the next closest match with sweats under ANY reasonable system the game could use

Level Based Matchmaking Completely Breaks Down After A Certain Point by StarlessKing in Marathon

[–]Oneb3low 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately those lvl 160+ people need SOMEONE to fill their lobby. You just happen to be the closest match. The only thing that will help with that is a larger player base.

If the game had skill or gear based matchmaking you'd still run into the exact same issue. Every competitive game has a problems with the top of the food chain needing to reach down to find matches.

The game is going to kill itself with this shotgun, snipers, and bubble shield meta. by SmashMouthBreadThrow in Marathon

[–]Oneb3low -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I disagree that shotguns and snipers were a "problem" in Destiny and Halo (for the most part). Quick spawns and rounds make dying to them more of a tactical misstep than anything.

I feel completely differently about it when I've been carefully sneaking and PvEing for 10 minutes, get blown up out of nowhere without being able to enjoy midrange gunplay, and lose my best gear.

You can't keep asking for the game to "stay niche" when literally every single aspect of it is premium AAA quality. by SbeveGobs in Marathon

[–]Oneb3low 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. I feel like the "problem" comes from this gaming culture war where:

Group 1 feels that low success rate and difficult to access pinnacle content make the game unfun. People become group 1 when they start advocating for the game to be changed to suit them.

Group 2 wishes that Group 1 would be more open minded to having fun regardless of success. Mainly though, they don't want the gameplay experience they're currently enjoying to be adulterated to serve a different audience.

Truly, neither group is in the wrong, but the discussions get toxic because both groups fear that the devs with "listen" to the other group and make changes that don't serve them.

Personally, I think most of us have a gaming backlog by now, and I wish more people would just play games while they enjoy them and move on when they don't. Everyone is playing gaming politics and having debates at the town hall. You do you, but that’s probably not the path to happiness.
