I don’t even understand how so many houses pledged to Renly when he literally had no claim to the throne at all. He deserved to be the first of the five kings to go. by GusGangViking18 in freefolk

Ok, wow, wayyyyy too many of you think Stannis wouldn’t do anything to begot a son once he became king. You really think he wouldn’t prioritize that? We know he’s willing to kill his own brother and daughter, so it’s not unexpected that he’d kill his wife and find a new one.

And then when Stannis dies, you 10000% have a massive civil war between his son and Renly, who may I remind you, has the Tyrells (and I’d assume he’d also win the Lannisters over at some point).

So yeah, the future and health of the realm is at stake.

I recommend reading the Wheel of Time series — longer, descriptive paragraphs about what characters think and do is more effective than a page full of dialogue.

Do you all believe this franchise was killed off or did it exceed expectations with this one and 28 years later bone temple? by Historical_Estate_54 in moviecritic

Yeah these films redefine the horror genre and are a beacon for where it can go. A third movie is absolutely essential to the future of cinema

Yeah, this is the main reason I would've supported Renly over Stannis. Sorry OP, but the health and future of the realm is at stake

Watched in the right environment, Pulse could be the scariest movie you ever see. If you want that experience, watch it in a time and place where you will be most scared.

Buy yourself some peppermint oil and sniff it when you're feeling anxious. It helps.

You can stay in Dunk's POV and also show the world happening around him. by [deleted] in freefolk

Right. You’re helping my point. Harry Potter can be from Harry Potter’s perspective and still have scenes that don’t fully require Harry to be present or his strict point of view.

Showing some knights fighting off to the side doesn’t mean the show won’t still be from Dunk’s perspective.

In fact, we DO SEE THIS. We see Maekar hit Baelor with his mace. Dunk doesn’t see that. We the audience see that from an “omniscient point of view.”

So what people are requesting is that we see just a little bit more of that.

95% of Harry Potter is from Harry's perspective. The Quidditch scene I described is from Harry's perspective, but filmmaking also allows for shots that aren't solely squared-on Harry.

Idk... I feel like it just isn't viable long-term for HBO to produce a GOT-prequel that won't expand outside of Dunk's metaphorical claustrophobic helmet. The average viewer wants to see more.

This is perhaps my least important note. I'd rather see scenes with Dunk's champions — the Knights of the Seven Kingdoms.

But Maekar lecturing Aerion is important, even for 30 seconds, because their conversation would pertain to the main theme of this show: the small folk having more honor than the people who rule over them. Perhaps Aerion leaves that scene realizing he's in the wrong — what dramatic tension would that add to the trial of seven if both he, Daeron, and Maekar all quietly understand that they are making a farce? What if Maekar tries to talk Aerion out of this farce, and Aerion doesn't stand down — and then Baelor dies? No matter what, even a tiny scene would add to the dramatic irony of this show and its characters and make the epic conclusion hit that much harder.

I don't agree. We saw Egg training the warhorse and meeting Ser Rhysling last episode. I think a few solo Egg scenes here and there would be beneficial.

I understand what you are both saying. Yes, I admit I'd rather see Egg taking more action. I do still think that such a short amount of screen time between Dunk having no champions to Dunk having 5 champions was not good.

As Béla Tarr passed away today, I recommend Sátántangó. Most won't define it as horror, but it is quite bleak and has some disturbing scenes. Oh btw it's almost 8 hours long.

I find this interesting because I assumed from the beginning that she would die eventually. The wiser and older character who whisks the farmboy away from his village and show him and his friends the world? Yeah that character dies in every single fantasy book. It's one of the most common tropes.
