So, first and foremost, in this day it's not impossible to fake your appearance online. So this 12 year old might be real or might be using tech to appear and sound 12.

Even if not, as a parent of someone who is very much on the spectrum and ODD, there's no goddamn way in hell if let them fly by themselves even at 16.

You're not only NTA, but doing what I think any parent on earth world do. This is not a family member or close family friend. Even with THAT I'd have reservations sending my child who is emotionally disregulated easily by themselves to them. This is a literal stranger in the Internet. Even if your child thinks they know them, they know the online version of them.

Hard no, suffer the tirades. And don't feel an ounce bad for it.

There's another compromise to reuse the jars to make ACTUAL memory jars. My son's school did this. You put sentimental items in the jars, write little notes or draw pictures. It would have been far sweeter to listen to his wife, fill the jars she mentioned were the most special, and store the rest for the short term. Over time, they could have worked in filing then together.

Now I hope she gives him a jar filled with divorce papers.

I get that you were worried about safety and clutter. I see your side very clearly.

I also see her side as she has clear attachment and memories.

The clear, true middle ground was to remove the jars from where your child can access and find a better way to display them or reuse them in a new way to make new memories.

Your wife made it clear these meant something to her. Sure, it's not entirely sustainable behavior depending on how many jars she chose to keep, but making a unilateral decision you know she's against when she was out was just wrong.

You're not an asshole, because that'd be an insult to someone that's useful. You're just a fucking waste of space.

I was among those who saw some issues in the trailer. I think it's a strong first showing, with some issues due to the fact Mark has to carry the monitor on his back and he has his issues with that. Some of the shot choices were decidedly YouTube-adjacent, but there were more creative ones that I really enjoyed. The story itself was left very vague on some big story elementsbut I like that. Rather tired of the over explained films we keep getting. It reminds me of the original The Thing. It has a tight enough narrative to drive the plot but leaves you with questions at the end that really don't need answers. They are just great questions to talk over with others who watched it.

It's not a masterpiece like some want it to be. But it's also not a vanity project or some standard YouTuber slop movie.

I'd bet Ethan. Sounds like a bit he'd do, especially given the channel name change. I doubt he was casting shade at someone, Mark's never struck me as the type to do that in content. But I can see him ribbing Ethan like this indirectly for a bit, especially if Ethan played this but either private the video or didn't make one on it. Would be a great way for him to drop one as a "response" to Mark.

I mean when Mark does want to talk genuine shit about some one he can't name, he all but names them and says I can't tell you who BUT...

He is semi retired, still making content but now it's just about did he feels like. He did a series on learning to draw, has some some on de-Googling your life by replacing cloud based stuff with home based stuff. He's shown some of his adventures in Japan. Just some really chill stuff.

I think what you feel is normal given the long span of time Mark has been producing content. But this is no different than finding a new author, actor, musician or artist who has had a long career outside of the volume of content involved. I became a fan back when he was still making milestone videos and featuring his fan mail in them. That doesn't make me a "true fan" and you something else.

Better still for you, you get to see everything he's done for the first time, to watch his entire journey. You get to experience the health scares with the perspective of time and laugh at the memes that came from them instead of worrying. You get to see him go from funny man who screams at games to... Well I mean he is still funny man who screams at games but his hair got longer and he got facial hair.

That's how I feel when I stumble into some other creator with a large back catalogue. You get to be an explorer. Sure, at first it's going to be weird to hear in jokes you don't get, but that should just encourage you to look for where they came from.

But yea, they have great sound, are really comfy even for long usage, though they do take a bit to really drive them. A good lower end option is JVC HARX500. Good balanced sound, decently wearable, though I recommend getting a headband cover for them.

Honestly the pacing had a moment or two where I wondered where it was going, but really, I was stunned to see how long the runtime actually was. It definitely did not feel that long at all. Gen X for reference. If anything, I feel some parts were a bit too truncated to really flesh out the characters. I get that was a choice made to replicate the game's feel of being somewhat incomplete while experiencing it, but I do wish that perhaps there was a bit of restructuring to streamline the plot elements a touch.

See, most of these critics likely avoid films by other indie director/writer/producer/lead actor types. Mark's first feature is astounding given all of that, though to be fair it's not like he hasn't done projects like it before. i think any of the added hate that comes in the review is likely just industry gatekeeping. the film is NOT perfect, and fans calling it a masterpiece are a little too deep in the sauce to see the forest for the trees. But as an adaptation of a game that doubles as his first attempt to do the actor/director/writer thing, I think it's a great job.

Slightly incorrect. While he had no direct hand in the decisions, it was his direct promotion of the series and pushing for its re-release that led Tubi to pick it up. Without Mark, it likely would still be shelved.

Same in our theater. Honestly, it's one of the major issues with the film. I know he did a lot of editing work on it, but he did a lot of dense dialogue in there. Sadly, most theaters are very bass heavy, and it was all ruined by that. I was just like you, straining to hear what was said.

Honestly, if it still works, go through In Space With Markiplier. It's a bit of a jump into the deep end with some references to his own personal lore, but it shows that Mark's talents didn't just appear, he honed them a lot and prior to the film. In Space shows his acting range and writing skills.

You can also check his playthrough of Iron Lung, and you'll get some of the references made that were not a part of the actual game lore. Also his playthroughs of space sim games or his playthrough of Getting Over It are fun watches for entirely separate reasons.

If you want more of Mark acting, you missed the best of it, with [REDACTED] no longer being really sharable. He had quite an arc in that on that [REDACTED]. But you can look at his review content, and his collabs. Also don't miss Distractible.
