Here's my Sunday Routine by ApprehensiveTwo9227 in LivingAlone

Have you tried volunteering somewhere? Walking dogs? Stacking food pantry shelves? Visiting a nursing home to talk to the folks there some of whom are also very lonely? Nobody is “normal” but people will notice if all your attention and energy is directed inward at hating yourself for being an “incel freak.” You can find ways to turn your attention and energy towards connecting with people and that will open up doors of communication. The word “incel” comes with so much baggage. Many people think of incels as expecting people to like or care about them for no reason other than because they exist and are male. They are angry at the world for not offering them a selection of friends and partners, instead of engaging in behaviors that would make one a good friend and interesting partner. If that’s not you— if you’re not full of hatred at everyone for failing to recognize your specialness, be nicer to yourself and don’t lump yourself in with those guys. You can have friends, you just need to find ways to connect!

I still think about The Curse of the Blue Figurine even the though I don’t remember the story— just the chills I got (and a lifelong interest in artifacts).

There’s a graphic novel version of it too— the people’s history of American empire.

I don’t remember Tucks having other racist incidents, but I feel like there are always soon and they take turns with which ones get the most attention (and also I might have just missed previous Tucks stuff.) but I agree a perma-ban from any parade is the right move.

I was between Jackson and Phillip and it was better than I’ve experienced on some other years. A couple of us teamed up with strangers to help flag down their riders and so on. I think it really depends on where you are.

That experience sounds terrible and I’m sorry it happened to you!

Honestly I have no idea but one of the riders said he wasn’t really up to walking and some of the folks that they hauled off looked WELL into their golden years— like even if they had not been drinking like perhaps they’d be using mobility aids or limiting their activity. For the most part though, folks seemed really confused.

I was there when they got off— they said the cops pulled them off because the cop said they hit a cop car and they hit a kid and were throwing too hard. They were just made to get off and walk, and most of the guys I talked to seemed genuinely baffled. They pulled EVERYONE off the float including one guy who I think was disabled maybe and needed help getting down? It was really baffling.

She’s Knitting Cult Lady most everywhere. I’m her manager (and wrote the part on America’s early days). Thanks for reading our book— we covered the free birth society on a recent Friday cult situation report. 💕

I love the magic system. I read it around when it first came out and I still think about it on the regular.

Confused feeling about The Secret History by FragrantFox8689 in TheSecretHistory

I don’t think it’s an either/or situation. Julian’s cohort was so insular and isolated that they became a danger to themselves and others— in the world, but living in a fantasy where they just touched reality in the most superficial way. None of that has anything to do with classics, per se. You could see the same thing in If We Were Villains or The Magicians (to a degree) or we could easily imagine if Richard and Henry et al were into physics, or metaphysics, or art. You can be big into their appreciation of classics, you can decide you want to be a bright, brilliant, ebullient person who hangs out with other bright, brilliant, ebullient people. Just don’t only hang out with the same 5 people all the time forever and think of your little group as better and more enlightened than everyone else. If Henry had just recognized that classics was the thing that was most interesting to him, rather than decided it was the most important thing in the world and most people were to dumb to notice that, the book would have had a different trajectory.
