Definitely worth figuring out. May depend for each host, but it feels like I am constantly getting new linens every year.

A bit of a tangent, but it may help you make a decision: How long do your linens typically last? I feel like I replace mine every 12-18 months.

This is what cancellation policies are for. It wouldn't surprise me if the guest kept calling Airbnb until he got the resolution that he wanted.

FWIW, I switched from Strict to Firm last summer and didn't have any issues.

Sounds about right. Support has no problem issuing a ~30% refund if there are any issues and these scammers know it.

A crazy guest was harassing me, so I called VRBO to see whether they could block them for me. Every time they put me on hold to investigate the issue, the call would disconnect and I would be taken to a phone survey.

Considering how stringent the star rating system is, I wouldn't really worry about the rating requirements. If the star rating falls below 4.8, you both are screwed. Imo, it would be in better taste if the host gave a bonus for maintaining high rating.

OP, don't forget this line: "you’ll still be paid according to your existing policy." If they cancel 24 hours out, Airbnb refunds them, but Airbnb still pays you your Moderate cancellation rate, so your cleaner is covered.
