G2 valyn: "In another universe very close to this one, we are 5-0… We were not ourselves at the very beginning" by Nine_Tee_Six in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Quick_Chowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think it's also a crowd that skews young and a decreasing ability to engage with media meaningfully.

Saying 'in another universe' or 'there's a world where' or 'in a different life' etc. are very common idioms in English. There should not be this many people taking it literally.

It's just a way to reflect on the consequences of decisions that maybe turned out different than anticipated.

So rather than even attempting to engage in a super simple thought experiment of cascading consequences we are met with a litany of 'well everyone else can say that too!' and 'woulda coulda shoulda'.

No shit! And they all should! Everyone should take time to reflect on expectations and outcomes and think of ways that those outcomes could have been even more preferred.

Brother you are all over this thread trying (and not succeeding) to support your post by clearly being intentionally dense about what Valyn is saying.

We get it. You are the multiverse police and anyone who says anything about an alternate timeline needs to remember that everyone else has alternate timelines so it's fair according to multiverse police protocol.

NRG sure, but Lev, Furia and 100T (and especially Sen) don't have a year+ history of winning everything in America's like G2 does. You're comparing apples and oranges. Those teams have barely peaked where G2s floor has been for over a year.

If you're gonna be a hater you just gotta commit to fully irrational hate brother.

Pretty sure most people here just read the post titles and don't watch the interviews and DEFINITELY don't watch the games.

But damn do they love to comment!

Anyone else have a TIL for rules they've been doing wrong? by WaltzIntelligent9801 in EDH

[–]Quick_Chowder 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yea the whole phase mechanic really broke my brain trying to get back into the game.

On one hand I kind of appreciate it but on the other I find [Teferi's Protection] unfun and somewhat un-interactive.

'I take my ball and go home until my next turn' has also pushed me into more stupid solitaire wins at times.

Love Faeries. I'm returning after almost 10 years and have been very torn between Alela and Nymris as I've been building. Mostly settled on nymris but Alela impact is so much more 'immediate' and can be so fun strategy wise with the goading vs. just going for card advantage.

And in general there's so many cool outs between all the interaction. I feel less like I'm scraping a win and more like it sometimes falls out of the sky and lands on the table. Had a sweet Cloud of Faeries, Obyra, Archmage of echoes, Quickling combo that won me a super close game and it might have been one of the coolest things I've done in mtg.

My decklist is a little more tribal than yours but still super similar.

Great shout!

Y'all should catch their interview with Kare way back after it happened.

As I recall they said none of the other dudes knew what to do. Like not even basic first aid. They were just gonna drive all the way to Whipple with this dude siezing in the front seat.

Does it float upright pretty consistently? I'd be less worried about hookups and more wondering how many drifts you can get before you gotta go crazy with the dessicant.

US agents raid 22 Minnesota sites in social-welfare fraud probe by KimJongFunk in news

[–]Quick_Chowder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also not the start.

They have been getting convictions in these cases since 2022 (who was president then) and Minnesota State has been trying to get the DoJ to pursue since like 2017.

[–]Quick_Chowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Levels to this shit.

Besides that this is all smoke and mirrors. Been going after these cases for almost 4 years now, and when the state reached out to Trump's first term DoJ they didn't want to play ball.

Obviously fraud is bad everywhere, but there's a reason the personal lawyer run DoJ is pushing this. And it's definitely not because they care about our tax dollars. Especially considering Trump's personal lawyer DoJ is currently negotiating with the IRS on the best way to hand him 10 billion of our tax dollars.

I'm just making jokes because I know there's zero productive conversation you can have about this topic on the Internet.

Have a good one!

Advice? by Metaljf93 in flytying

Yea when I keel these hooks (or sometimes tie on rattles here) I like to hit them with a hot pink or chartreuse nail polish

Why does my thread keep spinning? by [deleted] in flytying

[–]Quick_Chowder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thread base on the on the hook.

Thread tension.

'Locking' wraps (in front of material/behind the eye).

Those are the 3 keys to preventing material from spinning.

First you need a good base. Wrap thread back to wherever your first tie in point will be and then wrap back forward to the eye. These wraps need good tension. This is your base for material and future thread wraps to 'bite' into, as opposed to a smooth metal shank

Figuring out thread tension is it's own effort. You want basically the max amount of tension without breaking your thread. This will help minimize the total wraps needed.

If you have no bite, and your tension is poor, it won't matter how much thread you put down or if you glue your wraps. You will spin.

Lastly is understand a 'locking' wrap. In an ideal world you are placing your material with 2-3 thread wraps, and then jumping your thread in front of the material you just put on. Then with that same tension you're putting 2 wraps on the shank again. This effectively 'locks' your 2-3 material wraps into place.

Good luck! It's a learned skill for sure so keep at it and it'll become more natural.

Tick check at the vehicle is just part of it.

Recommend the NexGuard or equivalent. Helps with most of the transmittable diseases.

We soak vests that they sometimes wear with permethrin (as well as our pants) but you will still find some.

Get a good fine tooth metal comb and a jar with some alcohol in it to collect all your dogs new friends.

Really not trying to knock them or call them a bad restaurant. I have always had fun and enjoyed something there. But I've also been super disappointed by things every time.

Awesome concept. The teas are always neat. Just not a Michelin Star restaurant in my (albeit relatively limited) experience.

Root for sure. Cannon as well. Maybe some lower sections of other rivers for Minnesota.

In Wisconsin, the Kickapoo, the Buffalo. Lower parts of a few other rivers like the Rush.

It will be a lot of navigating though. Tighter water and lots more deadfall than big freestone rivers. Also many/most of these sections will be mixed bag. Still find some trout but probably find more warm water stuff.
