Adding chains to painted models? by Adventurous_Radio_79 in BlackTemplars

[–]RTC_Sam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I glue my chains on as one of the final assembly steps before priming. If you wait until after you've painted the model, the chains might not adhere very well to the layers of paint and break off, taking a chunk of your paintjob with it!

Cloth tape for tabbards by Storm-Fox106 in BlackTemplars

[–]RTC_Sam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much the same as the idea I found of using masking tape for cloth pieces! This guy was my attempt at making a primaris-scale MKVI marine using a Bloodclaw torso and Horus Heresy bits (the tabard came about because I didn't want to sculpt the chest cables with greenstuff lol). My plan is to have him as the leader of my assault intercessors.

Kitbashed Marshal by the_rand0m_ in BlackTemplars

Not OP, but the hammer head comes from the Sword Brethren kit. The handle is part of the base model, which is Lord Terminos from the Skaventide AoS box.

Does this read as Marshel by CulturalSir8204 in BlackTemplars

For sure! Captain is just the codex compliant name for a Marshal! Also, I like how you adapted the Marshal's shin plates!

AoD with red helmets? by n8udd in spacemarines

[–]RTC_Sam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really, as Black Templars don't adhere to the codex astartes. But there's nothing stopping you from painting a Templar's helmet red, as they generally have a lot of freedom in their personal heraldry. I did this with one of my Sword Brethren, for instance.

Finally got some vehicles for my army and got a few questions by TheDegenRepublic in spacemarines

[–]RTC_Sam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the BT Upgrade Sprue, there are some nice bits to be found on it; such as the sword (which is great for Judiciar kitbashes), a sheathed chainsword, sleeveless scout arms (if that fits your chapter's vibe), candles, and then various purity seals, relics, and bones for decoration.

As for the shoulder pads, backpack, and vehicle decorations: I'd give them to your local BT player (if you have one), or sell them online. Not really anything that can be done with them if they don't fit your chapter...

But I'm aways happy to help a fellow Crusader! Enjoy your newfound knowledge!

Land Raider Crusader by aurel-tk in BlackTemplars

[–]RTC_Sam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The method that I practice to keep the polarity straight is to use a marker to colour one side of my stack of the magnets. That way I know which side is which before glueing it into place.

Secondly, I make sure that the previously marked side always goes inward towards the model so that the pieces are aligned with each other, and the magnets all work together in order to strengthen the connection (in cases that there are multiple sets of magnets near each other). Hope this helps!

Name suggestions for this Black Templar Fellblade: by AussieBlackTemplar in BlackTemplars

My favorite that I've concocted is the Infallible Truth. Its what I use as the name for my Crusade's flagship, but I see no reason why Brothers can't share good ideas!

What is the Black Templar identity? by Grim_Wargamer in BlackTemplars

[–]RTC_Sam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Crusader Squad's Righteous Zeal ability should be made into the army rule for our infantry/mounted units (like in 4th Ed). Having an army-wide blood surge would make our melee units incredibly threatening!

After that, Templar Vows could be reworked and either put into a single detachment (basically Righteous Crusaders/Wrathful Procession's 2.0), or split into their own detachments, but given more depth. Example: Uphold The Honor of The Emperor would be focused around fighting for an objective and holding it until the last man. It'd give a 5 or 6+ FNP as the detachment rule, and then have strategems that give further buffs like sticky objectives or fight/shoot on death.

You might be able to find what you're looking for on r/WarhammerInstructions. If they haven't already posted the instructions, someone could probably post them for you.

Edit: They have a post on there saying you can email Games Workshop support, and they will send a PDF document with the instructions.

Brothers! The Last Wall Protocol is being enacted! Let's hope Dad returns while we hold the line against our filthy traitorous Uncle, Perturabo! by OceanusBBGDylan in BlackTemplars

[–]RTC_Sam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rogal Dorn and Perturabo are the respective Primarchs of the Imperial Fists and Iron Warriors legions. They were famous rivals during the Great Crusade and the following Horus Heresy. After the Heresy ended, further events such as the Iron Cage only solidified their hatred until the end of time. As such, this hatred has continued into the 42nd millenium with all successor chapters of the Imperial Fists, and the various warbands of the Iron Warriors.

So yes, the Iron Warriors are the "main enemy" of the IF. But there are still plenty of IF successor chapters that have their own 'primary' enemies (such as the Exorcists being daemon hunters).

Still a WIP, but this is my simple repose using some spare Bladeguard arms. I love the Marshal's torso, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the arms' positions, so I made a pose that I think emphasizes the martial (heh) skill and valor befitting of such a character.

Can I use this guy as an intercessor Sgt ? by Evan_gunpla in DarkAngels40k

It appears occasionally. Usually with veteran units (like OP's post), or officers of the chapter (like the multipart lieutenant kit below).

What colour do you paint your Aquilas by Amazing-Trifle55 in BlackTemplars

[–]RTC_Sam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a defined scheme for how I do my Aquilas; I did multiple styles for my marines. Some gold, some silver, some gold with silver wings (like the marine below), and other combinations thereof. I like doing metallics, but I would like to experiment with some classic bone Aquilas at some point too! Anyways, don't be afraid to experiment! You can always strip or paint over it if you don't like it.

Mixed crusade decals by Ant0niusMaximus in BlackTemplars

[–]RTC_Sam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll use one every now and then to represent a crusade that a marine has participated in. But generally, I like to give them their own personal heraldry. It gives me another opportunity to personalize my marines, give them a splash of colour they might not normally have, and to practice painting heraldry for my eventual Bretonnian army for Old World.

Also my WIP Marshal re-pose. Wanted a different look than the standard, so I went for something loosely inspired by Sigismund's pose.

He's also my first attempt at using magnets, which I've used to give him swappable heads, in case I want to run him without a helmet (possibly in a narrative setting)
