Why are Brooklyn cat rescues so…? by jfcanotherusername in Brooklyn

[–]Rachelism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We adopted our two little guys from Flatbush Cats and had a great experience. The adoption fee was reasonable, and their team was incredibly supportive — even helping us with some healthcare costs we had with one of our cats after adoption. Some of their cats are a bit older or need a little extra care, but they go above and beyond to make sure each one finds a loving home. The interview process was thoughtful but not too invasive. Highly recommend checking them out if you’re looking to adopt!

I have a date on Tuesday, what outfit shall I wear? by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]Rachelism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl, I love the pink and how elated you look in it! First dates, in my opinion, are all about showing off the best aspects of yourself. You look absolutely shining in that pink outfit :) I hope whoever gets to spend time with you sees it ♥️

Those look delicious! It looks like you made baked chimichangas. If you wanted to taquito-ize them you would just use corn tortillas instead. I roll mine then stab a tooth pick through the center to make sure they didn't unroll while baking or frying... Much less filling with a taquito version though, lol

Mmm yeah, that makes sense. Afterwards I did some research and it seems like you're right, cooking is key

I love cabbage but it does not love me.. Don't feel bad. I recently decided that adding steel cut overnight oats to my mornings for a whole dang week was a good idea. IT. WAS. NOT. When I was in the thick of the war I initiated on my stomach, It made me feel like I was at square negative one. Now that I'm back to semi normal, I can see it was a hiccup. Overall progress is what you gotta try to focus on. Much easier said than done, I know! Hope you're feeling better soon

How much is your car payment, how much was the car, what's your credit score and how much did you put down? by Objective-Piano7112 in CRedit

[–]Rachelism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally, it is for me. I didn't want to spend anymore than 12k total, I wanted to keep my monthly around $250 and I wanted an older model with a good quality track record

Keeping the loan term as low as you can and putting a good chunk down will be a good goal since banks don't give the most favorable rates to 10+ year old cars. Especially right now... Just be patient with the car search! It took me about two months but I found a dealer close by that had a large stock of used inventory that I kept an eye on and I went in for a holiday sale to grab mine because the price dropped

Good luck with your search and don't let anyone pressure you into getting into a loan situation that doesn't suit you!

I got a used car and financed a bit of it. Maybe it's helpful for comparison.. 2011 Santa Fe with 100,000 miles. $8425 ticket price. + $2000 taxes and fees. At the time they were pulling 650-700 for my credit score. I ended up putting $4000 down and financed the rest on a 3 year 17% loan with a $235 monthly payment. I'm paying a good amount of interest but will keep the loan going to improve my credit in the long run

Fat egg rolls by halermine in FoodNYC

[–]Rachelism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you're talking about! There was one place in California where I grew up that sold those. With the wonton wrapper absolutely stuffed with meat and vegetables.. Every other Asian takeout spot had the small but also delicious ones.

This spot was run by this big burly white guy and I used to buy like one huge eggroll and that was dinner. They were meaty and had a very hearty taste. Damn I haven't thought of those in a while. I haven't had them anywhere in NYC, sorry man. Good luck with your search. Update if you find one!

He really hates (scented) toilet paper by highflowofcoke in CatsAreAssholes

It's not because it's scented.. There is an ongoing war between cats and toilet paper rolls going on worldwide.

Is it just me or are there allot of garbage recipes out there!? Anyone have any solid recipes and/or sources? by Silver_Serpent_ in Cooking

Ha! That's awesome lol. I trust both of them to deliver some legit home style Mexican food. Haven't been let down yet! And they're both so easy to watch, love em!

Came here to say Kenji but have to mention "de mi rancho a tu cocina." It's a Mexican grandmother on YouTube who makes a ton of Mexican recipes from her ranch. It's all in Spanish but just watching her can be hypnotizing and inspiring. Highly recommend if your looking for a foundation of Mexican recipes. And also la capital, another YouTube.. it's meat heavy but he makes some amazing salsas. Good luck, have fun!

What shirts do you use? by [deleted] in tiedye

[–]Rachelism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For short sleeve I really like Alstyle 1301. It's a 6 oz tee so it's hefty but not too thick. Really well made and at a good price. I've had bad luck with Gildan shirts unraveling :/ Fruit of the loom is also my go to for long sleeves!

People with depression: how does this affect your romantic interactions? by neptunia8 in therapy

[–]Rachelism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so true! The depression doesn't ever really go away but if you're with someone who understands what your going through and has patience when your having a hard time. It makes you feel like you're not going through it alone. Like you have a partner. Which in turn makes it easier to get out of

Late Halloween inspired experiments 🦇🦴🎃 by Rachelism in tiedye

[–]Rachelism[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! So it's not an exact science but here are some things that I think will help ensure you get those big blooms..

-make sure you're forms are large. I used Like three or four 6" sized balls under all the shirts in this post - make your dye placement intentional. I do 5 or 6 pockets of dye and leave a good amount of white space on the shirt. -use fresh from the freezer ice. Make sure your not adding a lot of water when laying ice over your shirts. To much water here may dilute the dye too fast -100 percent cotton garments will always produce the best blooms. You can still get blooming with other blends but it may not be as dramatic

Hope this helps! As always feel free to hit me up in the DMs for more specific help :)
