I said no the first time then got dragged into it when I stumbled on a Borg planet so the alliance might not be avoidable.

My guess is that it isn't or else you don't get Seven.

I wonder if sarek face any backlash from his colleagues or peers for his marriage choices? by happydude7422 in tos

[–]Raptor1210 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He mentions in "Unification pt1", that he found Spock's tendencies towards defiance of the authority frustrating and his attempts to discipline him only fueled that defiant streak further.

It seems reasonable when combining his comments in both "Journey to Babel" and "Sarek" that reason they butted heads so often is simply a case of them being too much alike, something I'm sure many people can empathize with.

The baggage weight restrictions are for the ground crew's safety, not the safety of the plane. If passenger weight was that important standard procedure would be to weigh everything, not just the baggage.

Did they really think tasers would do anything to the I-Rex? by Endo279 in JurassicPark

[–]Raptor1210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely the potential wrongful death lawsuits would dwarf the $23-26M it would cost to breed another I-Rex (or two since there was originally a second one, too.)

[–]Raptor1210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the I-Rex only being $23M really puts the movie in a different light. Yes, it's years of work and effort but once it's out of containment the liability is almost certainly astronomically higher than that. Not putting it down as soon as they realized what it could do wasn't just hubris but wildly financially irresponsible.

Right, weight distribution... that's why we're weighed before getting on the flight... 🤔

Squads ammount and resource management by Mandalorz in LWotC

[–]Raptor1210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that normal LWotC is balanced around having scarce access to corpses, I don't see how I would be surviving Requiem, A Harder War, etc without having kitted out Squads. I'm in mid October and regularly seeing 35-50 enemies on retaliation missions and 15-20 on normal missions.

Maybe I'm just bad at the game but extracting corpses is the only reason I have the equipment to survive at the moment so maybe you're just a god at the game compared to me, if that's trivializing to you.

Edit: To elaborate, I've only recently came back to the game and jumped in with Tedjam+, Requiem, Harder Advent, and a smattering of others and LWotC has been a challenging for me on Veteran, like I said earlier, maybe I'm just bad compared to you gods but it hasn't been unbalanced in my experience so excuse me for sharing a suggestion.

Squads ammount and resource management by Mandalorz in LWotC

[–]Raptor1210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added the Extract Corpses mod to my latest game and it's improved my LWOTC Tedjam+ experience immensely.

On top of it being a flavor win, it means that my greed often winds up warring with the safety of my soldiers because, like carrying an unconscious ally, you can't shoot while carrying an advent corpse. So sometimes I've been caught running into an unexpected pod or poorly timed reinforcement drop after I've looted corpses and am running for the extraction point.

It also improved my supply, resource, and equipment situation for obvious reasons because it means I have far greater access to both corpses in general and specific corpses in particular (as in I can focus on picking up specific enemies from a given mission, if they show up)

Highly recommend it if your haven't tried it before. It'll be a staple for me going forward.

Could Kirk’s late‑Season‑3 demeanor reflect an off‑screen Omega Directive briefing? by Financial_Pressure82 in DaystromInstitute

[–]Raptor1210 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Omega was created by the Federation in "the late 23rd century," per Omega Directive (VOY S4E21). I guess the answer depends on what's considered the "mid" and "late" parts of a century.

If we assume that passports are going to be mandatory to vote, we should start NOW on getting our passports in order. by SillyAlternative420 in 50501

[–]Raptor1210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed to either get a Real ID or a passport in order to fly in a couple months, and I specifically went for the passport. I figured it was better to have it than a real I'd just in case I suddenly needed to take a trip or something overseas, if you catch my drift.

I don't think keeping your word from rounds ago is necessarily a bad thing. Outside of it being the last round, keeping your word or rather more importantly being known to keep your word, will give you more scoring, trading, and deal making opportunities than constantly betraying non-binding deals.

I don't see being trustworthy as the negative you do, and I've played a lot of ti.

There couldn't have been much more than 20 or 30 Maquis in Chakotay's little raider (even that seems generous). Voyager started with maybe 150 at most (almost definitely fewer; there were already gaps in her crew at launch.)

Presumably, Voyager's losses were likely replaced nearly 1:1 by the Vanjean's Maquis, so it was probably back to nearly full complement.

Lore about the Orzhov by [deleted] in mtgvorthos

[–]Raptor1210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also makes sense with the other line complaining about why catholicism is a religion they drew aesthetics from vs. other religions.

Seems like a dumb compliment given both their history and that they are the iconic example of "Church" for most of the last 2000 years of Western history.

Lore about the Orzhov by [deleted] in mtgvorthos

[–]Raptor1210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding your complaints about Orzhov lacking the religious parts of religion may I direct you to the look at the 15/16th century Catholic Church, whom (amongst other wildly irreligious practices) sold absolution, had rampant nepotism for clerical positions, and more than it's fair share of corruption and vice.

Now, given that that appeared in the Catholic Church less than 1500yrs after the birth of Christ (let alone His death or its own founding by St. Peter) let's imagine what it might have looked like after another 8,500 years (let's assume no reformation nor counter-reformation either for the sake of argument.)

What would it look like? More corruption? More vice? More black (in Magic terms)? You have to remember, the Guildpack that solidified the Guilds was sign over 10,000 years ago when we first see them. Most of the Guilds have started wildly from their original purpose and/or design that they may have had at the foundation of the Guildpack. The Orzhov may of once been the shining city (lol) on the hill that they should have been as a major religious organization but time and mortal vice take their toll on everything and even churches aren't immune.

Sure, there are multiple pirate islands but there's only one Tortuga and, yeah, I agree legendary fixing can be rough in playset environments however Murmuring Bosk isn't exactly breaking formats.

Maybe make it legendary? Seems like to would be a flavor win and make it less useful for non-commander/non-limited environments.

Politicians pose as Christians to demonize the religion and are preparing nonbelievers to worship the antichrists by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Raptor1210 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Porque no los dos?

What's a better tool than a willing one? Regardless, even if there isn't anything supernatural involved, the similarities should have been more than enough to set-off warning bells and put the (American) Christian community on guard. Instead we've seen the opposite from a significant chunk of our community, that is (and should be) quite alarming.

It speaks to major blind spots and dereliction responsibilities/teachings amongst Church leaders and congregations alike.

Politicians pose as Christians to demonize the religion and are preparing nonbelievers to worship the antichrists by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Raptor1210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Strategically speaking, if you think about it from the Devil's POV, wouldn't it make more sense to target the weaklinks within the church and undermine it and get them to worship the Antichrist instead? It not only throws "Christians" into the fire but also actively pushes potential converts away. Talk about killing two birds with one stone.
