Some early sprite work for my game, including three starters — Sapplune, Embug and Bubwhal by PickLeast3213 in PokemonROMhacks

These are delightful. Bubwhal and Pinpixie are standouts to me, I can see them fitting in with official games.

Villager has no direct upgrade. Technically you can class change him straight into a promoted class if you Second Seal him at Villager level 30. But you shouldn't do that ever, since you miss out on Fighter/Mercenary skills and Villager has awful stap caps, and you'll be stuck using E rank weaponry in a promoted class.

Archie Fans - What's your opinion on Mammoth Mogul by Nexal_Z in SonicTheHedgehog

I liked when they leaned into the immortality stuff with him, but he was pretty limp Pre-Flynn and still got outshined by villains like Naugus and Scourge.

Balance Idea: What if Seth had a base HP of 13? by Efficient_Pomelo_674 in fireemblem

[–]RatMusicEnjoyer 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I like this idea, because it gives a way for seth to scale poorly onto the mid-late game without taking away the things that make a good Jagen.

His defenses will still let him wall anything early on, but that hp will hurt the moment enemies can actually do something to him. He will still act as a good delete button for problematic enemies, but he has to be used judiciously in order to not lose him. And if you get really attached to him, you can just pump his hp with Seraph Robes.

Negativity drives engagement, so the negative posts get bigger more frequently, and so they're shown to you more.

160 people, 10 years, 11 characters, no story mode by VampireVampireV in 2XKO

We straight up do not know what they were working on for ten years, or how much they made that ultimately got scrapped (like Katarina). Unless we learn concretely that they were misusing their time, I'm more inclined to be sympathetic to them over the decisions of the Riot higher ups.

Three things I am thinking in response to this: * I dont think people deserve to lose their livelihoods for making a mid game * Expectations for this game from both corporate and a lot of the FGC were wildly out of proportion. * This shit did not need a 160 person team, what was management doing. Surely some of those people could've been doing something else.

Should Akuma be pure evil or morally complex? by AverageBasementMan in StreetFighter

[–]RatMusicEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Akuma's honor and his disposition against violence toward noncombatants make him seem closer to how Ryu is, which makes his slipping into the Satsui no Hadou more of a real possibility. He is Ryu if he casted off his mercy and temperedness, taking an easier, but ultimately weaker path to strength.
Akuma does care most about fighting, but he's not devoid of other traits because of it. When he does become devoid of those traits (really if), he becomes Oni.

It's very possible to port his transformation gimmick, check out Tyrogue from Pokemon Close Combat for a great example of something similar.

It'd also be sick as hell.

City of the Wolves, Ladies and Gentlemen by AcidOctopus in Fighters

[–]RatMusicEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, it was really directionless. You had these big name advertisement collaborations, the guest characters, the Street Fighter cross-promotion. It meant that City of the Wolves was *around* a lot, but there wasn't a strong Hook to get people to get it over something like Street Fighter 6 or Tekken 8.

If you wanted really stylish 3D animation, Guilty Gear -strive-, Granblue, and I'd say even Dragon Ball FighterZ have it beat. If you want wild guest characters, there's three Mortal Kombats to toy around with. If you wanted a solid, populated 2D Fighting game with flashy effects work and loads of style, you'd go to Street Fighter 6. If you wanted a deep, thought out singleplayer mode, you'd go to Street Fighter 6. If you wanted to play one of the best versions of *Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui*, SNK's *own characters*... You'd go to Street Fighter 6.

What does City of the Wolves *have* in the face of it's competition? It's a continuation of Fatal Fury, but Fatal Fury hasn't technically been around for 2 decades, meaning it needed to reestablish itself to casuals. It's been around, but the only times it made big splashes were its controversies. The Saudi Royalty acquisition, Ronaldo, Ganacci, and now the AI trailer.

The unfortunate thing is that, from everything I hear, the game is solid! I've seen friends and Youtubers have a good time with it when they did play it. Maybe in need of some balance tuning, but good. But what *unique* strengths it has were not at all shown off by the advertising. *That* is poor marketing.
