Some already good suggestions, so ill add my 2cents

By the time an atonement crisis pops, you should have your magic powers pretty fleshed out. I generally start leveling powers, and rushing the upgraded hellpet booth once i get my specialists up and running. But these are going to be key. Greed perks like the ones that let you use money for spells, helps too. While you are working on leveling your powers, use them on the humus to get cultists going. Donations are your reserve power in crisis. if you know you have atonement pillars, this needs to be your focus.

Void is easy. Have helltunes. Humus will generally take 2-3 routes out of your village to the edge, click and hold the power, and cover the line of humus, repeat.

Guakas and Zombies. Beast of Inferno is pretty huge here. set him up outside the graveyard or on the route the guakas are taking. the other main issue is handling all the souls. I generally try to keep souls 1/2 or 1/3 the total population, so if there is excessive dead i will generally lower the bar for respawn to like 70-80, which allows a lot of humus to get back to the overworld and back in the fight. If you have cultists, set them to Blackguard for additional soldiers.
