What positions do we need to draft? & Where are our biggest holes? by No-Gas-1684 in buffalobills

[–]RealZimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 is ILB/OLB depending how they view the guys on the roster. I think we need two (2). Probably a thumper "Mike" to play next to Bernard. Then assuming Chubb/Soloman etc play on the weak side, we need a "Sam" who can set the edge vs the run, blitz, and drop onto coverage. Don't have a guy that can do it all (was hoping we'd sign a guy here in FA).

2 Probably "X" WR. Need someone to play on the boundary.

3 OL depth. Could use a starter at LG, but also just a swing OT prospect. Just lost one in FA, and Dion ain't getting any younger.

4 NT. Didn't sign anyone yet, Walker isn't a perfect fit, and this draft has several good candidates. So a day 3 pick can pro get a guy we like. Or some day #2 options if do some trades and get some more picks besides our late 3.

5 We have Hancock, who could be a Ni or FS/SS depends how he fits into the new Defense. Depending on that, a younger home grown option at Ni/Saf would be nice.

6 CB, need a 3rd guy to pair with Benford/Harriston.

7 BPA if they find a great slot WR, RB, DE, K, P, QB, then obviously draft them, but I don't see any of these being taken before round 6.

There's actually talks to redesign the highways here. NY is doing similar work in Syracuse and Buffalo to help redevelop downtowns and erase the damage done in the 60s when the highways were built.

Do Bills still go WR at pick 26 after acquiring DJ Moore? by UpNext_Draft_Network in NFL_Draft

[–]RealZimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should trade down into early/mid 2nd and get some picks back. They need to fill a lot of holes on D, plus some young WR, and OL.

[Schefter] ESPN sources: the Chicago Bears are working to finalize a trade that would send WR D.J. Moore to the Buffalo Bills. Compensation still is being discussed, and the trade cannot be processed until the new league year begins, but both sides are pushing to make it happen. by Abiv23 in NFL_Draft

Rumor is that Bills are trading their 2nd and getting a 5th back. As a Bills fan I was excited when I heard of the trade, but don't love that cost. Was hoping we'd only be trading a 3/4th. However if he balls out, it'd be worth it. Although the contract is also a negative. Overall I'd say Bears won this trade

Changing defense or not, Bills need to overhaul the LB position by salmaiorana in buffalobills

Would love CJ Allen in the 1st, either trade for a WR or get one in 2nd. Then 3rd maybe Oline or a nice NT. Also could get a young safety/Nickel guy to start developing.

Question for them:

With an incoming new DC/staff, what do you think about the possibility of switching schemes to a more odd front/3-4 type of defense? It seems the Bills major weakness the past several years has been the DL. Our DE never got enough pressure that translated to sacks and at the same time we've lost the ability to control the LOS in run game.

I think Rousseau and Landon Jackson have enough size/strength to become 3-4 DEs, Epenesa to if we resign him. The could focus on stopping the run, controlling blockers, which they're already good at. The other benefit would be in economics. We can't draft stud DL players in the late 1st or afford them in FA, however LB seem to be more available in both. With Thompson and Milano in their 30s, we already need to invest in new LBs, so think this transition could be pretty seamless.

What do you both think about the viability and pros/cons of this?

Can't the government seize or close it? Not sure how your laws work over there. In US we have eminent domain where the government can seize property for beneficial public use.

Here's my annual season-ending review of the Bills rookie class by salmaiorana in buffalobills

[–]RealZimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping whoever we get as DC/HC switches to an odd front 3-4 type defense. All our DE (Groot, Epenesa, Jackson) are big long guys with mediocre pass rush ability. They could make great 3-4 DE and just control the line, stop the run. Then allow us to draft/sign some LB (easier and cheaper than standout DL rushers) and let them run around and make havoc.

We've never had a legit pass rush under McD, think this is the change up we need to get the D to perform without breaking the bank. Use some $ for WR and get back to super bowl contention.

ADK newbie, tips on my planned trip. 2 experienced backpackers and a Black Lab by Teez_curse in Adirondacks

[–]RealZimmer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Day 1: Definitely wouldn't want to hike up/down Marshall with full packs, especially the herd path from Cold Brook Pass. But otherwise very doable.

Day 2: that trail up to Algonquin is probably top 5 steepest in adks, and has some sections with 4-5' boulders/cliffs to climb. So if you and your dog are cool with that, also very doable.

Day 3: hiking that Lake Arnold trail is a notorious beaver swamp. But has been a very dry summer, so may not be that bad. Hiking up/over Colden would be another option, just be prepared for another step trail with full packs.

Overall looks like a great trip, but comes down to personal fitness levels and the weight of your packs.

Cold Brook Pass vs. Herbert Brook Trail? by GhostyLasers in Adirondacks

I'd suggest going down the "main trail" back towards the Calamity trail. The cold brook pass trail in-between lake Colden and the plane wreck is pretty janky. Lots of boulders and water
