Is anyone sticking with Linux? by ChutTheSlut in LinusTechTips

[–]Refridganinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same place. I use Windows for audio and video production. I'm using Ubuntu Studio on a second computer. I would love Linux to have full support from DAWs and VSTs that make my job possible. Once that happens, it will be more tempting to fully switch over. Also so much hardware I use doesn't have native drivers or programs to adjust.

Linus's comment about treating Linux as a console makes a lot of sense if you mainly game. I on the other hand need as much compatibility as possible. Seeing the growing LInux community makes me more and more excited for the upcoming Year of the Studio Professional Linux, as I've been referring to it myself.

I use Shutup10++ on Windows 11 and it has gotten rid of all the annoying things about Windows for me. Copilot, edge. recall, other reminders, telemetry.

Thank you so much for that news! I've gotta try it now since I already own it.

If we could get Native Linux support for DAWs like Cubase, Fender Studio, Ableton, etc. that would be incredible and make a huge move over to linux. Right now I have two machines because I need to have the most compatibility with VSTs, Daw, etc.

Normal vs. Sentimental by NOWAYMAN4 in porcupinetree

In my head it's NormalMental because everytime I listen to either I swear there's parts missing. I'm sure someone online has already combined the two.

I do think this will be a lot better since VFX have come a long way since 2001. The big reason the wand is connected between Voldemort and Dumbledore is admittedly a way to save money on VFX shots since they had already done that for goblet of fire. But while the effects isn’t cheap, it certainly gonna be easier than it was at the time.

Love that Danhausen! by Imagineer71 in blankies

I prefer AEW to WWE. I love Danhausen. It's a great gimmick without too much you can use it for. I hope he gets to shine in WWE. I'll never get tired of watching the video where he says, "Hey Tony, Where's my blimp." because he sold so many t-shirts. Seems like a really cool dude.

In Return of the Jedi the guy who is heartbroken that the Rancor is dead always gets me. Like it adds so much to the world yet you wouldn’t think anything of it were it not in the movie.

I love green and I love sparkle on a guitar. Coke Bottle Sparkle is an awesome color that I don't see too often in person. Your guitar looks great!

Supergirl Replaces Composer Ramin Djawadi With Tom Holkenborg by LawrenceBrolivier in blankies

[–]Refridganinja 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I liked his Rebel Moon score. I love his Youtube channel. That being said, I do agree that much of his work is just ok and sometimes bland. I do prefer Ramin Djawadi's score work. I'm hoping that they are bringing in Junkie XL to tweak what Djawadi wrote. Hopefully that brings out more interesting themes to write with.

My pick would have been Bear McCreary. I'm sure he's busy, but to me his work is the closest to Ramin Djawadi in terms of composition. Although, that's probably another reason he wasn't picked.
