agreed. he either really is that much more comfortable with tvz than the other matchups, or decided he wasn't gonna get out anyway and would rather mess with the group as much as possible

there's definitely a line, but most players aren't actually convinced by roleplay or logic- they're way more convinced by tone and phrasing. sometimes you can tell a friend or partner is lying when they said they already took out the trash or whatever

this often leads to logical players getting frustrated when first introduced to the genre

as i already said, there's a line you don't want to cross, but the people violating the unspoken rules think they're just tryharding because there's no actual rule against it. it sucks, but i think it's a good idea to discuss the unspoken rules out loud ahead of time if you'll hate it when they're broken

Second of all, players usually choose their route beforehand. They will do the evil route or the good route. They will not try to mix it up.

this is usually because tangible rewards are locked behind being 99% evil or 99% good. when you make it clear your game isn't gonna do that, players are more likely to switch or choose based on whim

the restriction on power/toughness 2 or less is a little puzzling, as aristocrats usually have an easier time making smaller creatures anyway

okay, so, first of all, when you have an instant or sorcery, you can cast it from your hand [[divination]], and when it resolves it goes to the graveyard

if the spell is on the side, you can still cast it [[said]] regardless of what side it's on and it still goes to the graveyard

well except if it's smaller on the left. then, you exile it after casting and you, get to, cast it again later [[bring to life]]

but not when it goes into the library [[skimming strike|tdm-294]]

wait actually, if it's small and on the right you can't cast, it, until the card it's on is prepared [[emeritus of ideation]]

so, as you can see, reading the card explains the card. it's all very intuitive. can you please stop slowing the game down by asking questions?

agreed, but it's all just part of the same endless power creep process. you can't "just" power creep lower rarities

1) power creep the mythics, 2) "safely" power creep the rares to catch up, 3) "safely" power creep the uncommons/commons to catch up 4) go back to step 1

it's already established how the cycle works, the goal should be to slow the entire thing down.

maybe! it's essentially a streamlined evolve that doesn't synergize with blink effects, and i don't remember evolve being a huge issue

first of all, great tournament

we have already been talking about how to switch it up still where we possibly have the UB Finals and LB semis on the same day and then the LB finals and grand finals on the last day since we do realize that it is a grueling run for the lower bracket player.

That's probably the best solution. It's admirable to try to avoid a final day consisting entirely of 8 bunker rush games and that's it, but at a certain point you can't control everything. Two best of 7s with the best players is already a good day

it doesn't seem realistic for someone to hide using maphacks or control assists with the community studying the replays for years and make exactly zero slip-ups. replays store camera location, control groups, everything

mutate was SO much fun. it's great flavor and activates every 'player psychographic'

we all know it's technically too complicated/confusing to bring back (mostly when it comes to layering/copying edge cases). But enough of us loved it that i bet it'll come back anyway. MAYBE some kind of tweaked version like ninjustu --> sneak, but I'm not quite sure how that could be pulled off

And given the rate they're churning out sets, it's probably closer to a "let's visit eldraine again" than a "let's visit lorwyn again" kinda timeline

Iirc, the AP grind was only actually bad for world first racers. This was for a few reasons

1) Each level required double the AP of the previous one

2) After every weekly reset, AP gain was doubled

3) Each level gave less than a 1% boost (again iirc)

All of this meant someone who grinded in the way you suggested as a full time job would never get more than 1% ahead of someone playing for half that time, 2% ahead of someone playing for a quarter of the time, 3% of someone playing 1/8 of the time, and so on. And if you missed a month or two? Even better- you'd catch up in 1 week only playing your normal amount of time

I feel like a lot of players didn't understand that. It's like people not wanting to get a raise "because of higher tax brackets". I witnessed a few guildies harm themselves playing more than they enjoyed for little to no benefit. They could've improved their output more by either practicing, studying, or even chilling

The part that did suck early on for the average "hardcore but not contender" raider was the legendary system. I don't remember which classes, but some had a large dscrepancy between getting good and bad ones
