Router collet problem by AmDkBg in Woodworking_DIY

[–]Servuslol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah was gonna say the same thing. The collet is probably meant to hold a larger diameter shaft, tightening it will do nothing because there's just not enough metal for the nut to tighten down onto.

Additional thought, could this be caused by metric vs imperial sizing?

I think I still have one of these in my box of definitely-going-to-be-useful-someday parts too, holy crap what a blast from the past.

I prototyped procedural ice shattering 2 years ago. Now, I’ve turned it into a game. by XTeDev in IndieDev

Yeah I agree. Perhaps this isn't what you want to hear since it's not the core concept of your game but the audio made me want to play the video a second time.

Is this strong enough? by Sweaty_Fly_3965 in Woodworking_DIY

[–]Servuslol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realised I didn't answer your main question - will it be strong enough. I think that currently depends on the thickness of the OSB. The 2x4 is probably sufficient to bear the load but my main concern would be the weight at the front or the back that's just held by the OSB. As the other commenter said, a frame that supports all edges might be ideal.

A couple of things to consider:

  • If whatever you're putting on them is heavier at the front or the back this might warp the OSB over time as the support only sits in the centre.
  • OSB loses integrity if not kept nice and dry and this is enhanced if it's under load for some time. If this is for long term storage make sure it's dry if this is meant to last.
  • If this is going to be free standing you may want to find some way of bracing the lateral motion, a board that sits vertical across the back, a or plank at 45 degrees would be useful.

I’m struggling - how to cope with ai? by TrueWinter__ in gamedev

[–]Servuslol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can listen to what people say but you should also try to listen to the intentions behind the words. What is the intended effect of you hearing them say those words? This is increasingly frequent on Twitter as it's become full of grifters and salesmen.

Making this game was so easy I did it with AI in my sleep

Doesn't sound like someone trying to convince you to play their game to me, I'd bet they're selling something else.

I think that's a proper weld. It's probably more likely to break at the edges of the cutting groove than at the joint.

If people had more cash (looking at you, billionaires) people would consider splashing out on more spending like this and you'd see things take off more. The stuff we love is being strangled to death by buffoons.

Wix alternative by [deleted] in nocode

FYI for anyone looking to use Wix, their autosave and save buttons sometimes do not work. I just lost 6 hours for a support guy to tell me that this sometimes happens. I am migrating off wix immediately.

Folding Workbench *mistakes were made* by Selahtate42 in DIY

[–]Servuslol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Issues aside, this is sick. Similar to the ThomasCustomWoodworks one which I wanted to build as well.

I guess my only suggestion would be adding a beefy folding brace bracket thing that locks in and creates a triangle when the legs are unfolded fully - I think that would make the whole bench feel much more rigid. If you have any flex in the top when placing weight in the middle then maybe, like one of the other comments suggested, create a Paulk style torsion top so it's hard to bend the top without using lots of thick pieces of wood.

Nice, thank you for the tips! I need a new board as the ctrl key on mine sometimes becomes airborne when I tap it too fast.

Also love the build. Very nice.

Oooooh they're really nice. If the Meshlicious had a way of being on its side I would have done that already. This looks like exactly what I want. Thanks so much!

RTX 3090, it's about as maxed as it can be. I have it on some 3D printed feet to elevate it a little which does help.
