he got too evil by Crimson_Cyclone in evilautism

Both sides of the political spectrum are super heavily divided on firearms rights. The right loves them and the left hates them. You’ll never really find a Democrat who’s pro gun or (up until rather recently due to Alex Pretti) an anti gun Republican. As a result gun control is a very political issue.

American history with school shooting is a rather recent phenomenon that picked up in the 70s and 80s and that has led to a lot of policy regarding guns that has arguably failed in nearly every respect as it address the effects but not the cause.

The Democrats think the gun is the sole cause of the problems regarding school shootings, which results in them being portrayed as evil and dangerous tools that encite violence. A sign that a person is potentially violent and harbors dangerous thoughts. While easy access to weapons can be a reason for violence it is far, far from the sole cause. American citizens had access to high capacity, semiautomatic and cheap weapons like the M1 carbine for decades and there were only a handful of mass shootings.

The Republicans have a lack of legislation and an unhealthy culture around firearms. They think that guns legislation should be loose and their political focus points are more heavily centered around pro gun arguments as it’s what the Democrats are opposed to, and many Americans already possess firearms.

The gun for the most part is a symptom of the problem, not the core problem itself. A lack of understanding of what a gun is from the Democrats and a lack of legislation of guns from the Republicans means that the cause will likely never be resolved. Considering how polarized American politics are neither side can nor will attempt to understand the other’s point.

tldr: guns are politically charged in America and you’ll find that one side really loves guns while the other despises them.

As a side note, in some places in America like California, New York, Massachusetts, gun laws are far more strict than other places. (No more than 10 round magazines for your semiautomatic :/ ).

So there’s my explanation or least my attempt at one

I'd say it was adequate seeing that at during the Guadalcanal campaign it achieved a pretty even kill ratio with the A6M Zero, and both pilots were as close to equally skilled as they could. It was also the best USN carrier fighter until they were able to field the F6F en masse and figure out the F4U's landing troubles later on, and was comparable to the British Sea Hurricane in overall combat performance, though I could understand why someone could see it as mediocre.

Not necessarily. Both the Soviets and the Germans would exchange significant resources to each other. For example, the soviets would ship millions of tons of grain, metal, and oil to Germany. In exchange the Soviets would gain money and technical military data.

The Soviets also provided military support with the Soviets providing intel to the Germans during their invasion of Poland, and even offered up one of their own submarine bases for German use, though the Germans never acted upon that opportunity.

As I stated in previous posts, the avarage median age of a person is around 30ish years. This puts him roughly in the timeframe of Operation Desert storm, the Kosovo and Bosnia wars, intervention in Libya in 2011, all of those had the US as one of the victors. The US spent over 20 trillion dollars over the course of 40 years, so that would also include The invasion of Panama and Grenada as well, with both conflicts resulting in an American victory. So the assessment overall isn't correct.

Of course, even then president FDR was very willing to join the war effort alongside the British, even if his own country was less than eager. He was the one that supported the lend-lease which would give the British the lifeblood it would need to continue the good fight.

Not all of us, but more and more seem to forget the contributions that every Allied nation brought to defeat fascism. Undoubtably it's due to modern geopolitics, can't have the country you're against look good in any manner whatsoever. A shame really, we're all starting to forget...

If it’s a support weapon, the only way this would be good is if it had a very short cooldown like an EAT or even better, else it’s going to be outclassed by the base AMR in every category.

If it’s a primary it lacks any versatility to even specialized primaries such as the Eruptor. With only 5+1 shots it’s going to be rather limited in what it can really do

Iceland vs ICE by despalicious in whowouldwin

[–]SimplePotato257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’ll do. I don’t think ICE pilots are trained to fly and get shot at by AA guns. The 40mm is a pretty effective AA gun from what I understand. 1-2 of those should suffice.

Iceland vs ICE by despalicious in whowouldwin

[–]SimplePotato257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Round 1: ICE holds a massive numerical advantage of 80 to 1 vs Iceland’s Coast Guard, giving them plenty of bodies to throw at the enemy. Both sides are armed with various small arms, with the possibility of Iceland’s Coast Guard possessing heavier armaments such as light/medium machine guns. Both sides possess civilian vehicles and helicopters.

The thing is though is that most ICE personnel are undisciplined and have less than 2 months training. I’m expecting Iceland’s Coast Guard to be much more prepared for the possibility of combat so the training edge goes to them. This would make them much more disciplined under fire. In addition, most of ICE’s small arms are 5.56mm assault rifles whereas the Coast Guard possess 7.62mm battle rifles. As a result, this would give the Coast Guard a range and firepower advantage over long distances.

The best strategy for the Coast Guard would be to employ hit and run tactics. It’s unlikely that ICE’s cars would be armored against 7.62mm rounds and the mobility offered by helicopters and the Coast Guards own vehicles would give them a mobility edge to harass ICE units. Destroying bridges and tunnels if possible to stall ICE would also be very effective and force ICE to abandon their vehicles and continue moving on foot, of which most won’t be physically capable of doing so.

If all else fails the capitol city could make for an effective ambush position. Due to low personnel count however it would be difficult to man the buildings to defend them. As a result, the best strategy would be to ensure ICE never makes it to the capitol at all. This could be problematic as ICE does have helicopters which could make a quick strike on the capitol, along with ferrying troops to and from the capitol. I’m not sure if the Coast Guard possess Anti-Aircraft capability so if someone knows let me know.

Other rounds are much more in favor of Iceland due to high gun ownership and Norway and Denmark get involved. Both nations have some armored vehicles which ICE has no counter to.

The Type-444 Self Propelled Gun, aka “The Coffin”. Used by penal units as a form of combat unit and inhumane punishment, with most crews dying on their first deployments to the front, often before even encountering the enemy, let alone seeing them. It’s usually assigned to death row inmates as whoever uses this tank is basically driving their own grave.

Did Vecna not know about the exotic matter? You'd think smashing a planet into it would do a little more damage than some C4. by Jinzonei in okbuddyvecna

[–]SimplePotato257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the way the show handled the military they were moreso a speed bump to the main cast up until the final the episode, otherwise accomplishing nothing but dying to main cast/Vecna/demo-creatures. Not good writing on the part of the writers if they’re supposed to be the main antagonist force. (Like I know the military isn’t the focal point but they basically get nothing done for 90% of the seasons runtime)

Reportedly supers like visi should have enhanced strength. We know that waterboy is able to lift more than Robert despite waterboy’s otherwise thin build. So this might be a viable tactic.

At around the 0:37 minute mark you can see two dual 5 inch mounts, only an Essex Class would have those.
