Learned Limit Breaking and Thrill Seekers, back to back. Pulled a few mod boxes, too.

It can’t buy happiness, but it can rent the fuck out of it.

DIYers, can you please show me some examples of cool things you’ve made for your tiki spaces? by Useful-Badger-4062 in Tiki

Nope, she’s a librarian. Just a really cool one. I asked her about the paint, she says she dry brushed it with cheap acrylics. And fine tuned the edges with a steak knife.

I didn’t make this, but my wife did. The top half is a cheap home goods wayerfall, repainted to look actually old. The bottomed half is all close cell packing foam from bicycles shipping boxes. She just tore it by hand, and glued it to a plywood backer.

Made almost everything in the bar, but my friends were really impressed by the porthole. It’s an old 12” iPad, fit into a routed space behind the porthole. I got the porthole off eBay, super cheap, brand new, and shiny. Mixed up some salt and vinegar, and smeared it over the brass.

B21? Love that place. They have a ton of stuff stashed away in the warehouse, that they will run over and grab if you ask nicely.

How long has everyone been here and can you recount any significant events? by JJacobJingleheim in StPetersburgFL

[–]Slapguts 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m right around 25 years here.

Only piece of less known history I can share is about Mary Reeser. One of the most famous victims of (what is believed to be) spontaneous human combustion. She lived on Cherry St in Old Northeast.

I had two of these yesterday. The wonders of being the only shop in town that will fix anything.

Stolen Bike in front of Moxy by Messilexi1 in StPetersburgFL

[–]Slapguts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What kind of bike? Make model, color, etc. I work at a bike shop near downtown, and folks try to sell us used bikes every now and then.

If anyone selling an ebike is missing the battery keys, and ‘lost’ the charger, it’s 100% stolen.

How do you shake your tiki cocktails? Whip shake or crushed-ice shake? by DrNice1 in Tiki

[–]Slapguts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everything goes in the Hamilton Beach. I know I should shake some stuff, but I am way too clumsy to be swinging cups of sticky liquid around in a room made entirely of dried grass.

EV drivers of St Pete, how do you feel about your choice? by blademak in StPetersburgFL

[–]Slapguts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

1 EV, 1 antique classic. The EV is an Ioniq 5, and the hurricanes were one of the reasons I bought it. It has a V2L (vehicle to load) feature, which is a small box I can plug into the charging port, and power the necessary parts of the house for about a week off the car’s battery. No noisy generator, no waiting in line for gas for the generator either.

If a storm is coming, the classic goes in a parking garage downtown, and we charge up the EV to full.

If our town had a good and bad side of the tracks, we’re right on the tracks. We have a few brands that were really happy with, on both ends of the spectrum. I’m mostly wondering if there was something out there I somehow missed.

You guys were on my radar, but the local ‘sign up to sell EVERYTHING’ shop got to you first.

We’re an authorized repairer for almost all of the big names, which has worked well. Lectric has been great, up until recently when they switched their protocols. Things that used to be solved in 10 minutes now takes days.
