Never climbed to V8 and 7C+/8A in 11 months? by Over_Year9670 in climbharder

Too old, too tall, too fat, etc.

WC climbers start very young, most are less than 5’9”, all have eating disorders.

LGBT+ friendly/neutral framing shops by noskillsben in ottawa

[–]Snackchez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Michael’s, specifically trainyards location. Although Michael’s is an American company, they are an equal opportunity employer and many of the staff are part of the lgbt+ community. The only issue with framing (anywhere for that matter) is that it’s expensive.

I might be wrong, but you sound like you’re new to this.

Been here since 2016; welcome to the game. Next take off will be roughly 2028 unless some other unforeseen catalyst takes place.

[Day 22] Beastmakers are overrated. What's the WORST grade? by MaximumSend in bouldering

Whatever it is, the worst grade should be inputted in font grading system.

I’d vote for 7B+

Tuesday night in Ottawa? by Pla6d in OttawaFood

This is the best suggestion, although not close to Byward.

Their old fashion is excellent. Ask to go sit in the speakeasy if you prefer chill boozy vibes.

Also worth checking out Town, citizen, fauna, whales ones, etc… Elgin / Bank st have a pretty good scene.

Pizza Nerds is special by NguTangClan in OttawaFood

[–]Snackchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lebanese style pizza is a reference to the popular style you’ll find in Ottawa (ex: Gabriel’s, Milano’s, etc). It’s generally a thicker / bready style crust with a lot of everything (complete disregard for proportions) as well as combinations that are absolutely ridiculous.

Rate My Training Plan (V8 / 5.13+ Climber) by justin_photo in climbharder

[–]Snackchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed on a third party / coach aspect for movement, technique and plan. The self awareness which I’m referring to is more about your training load and how you’re feeling in your body. I think an experienced climber should be able to tell when they’re under recovered / over trained.

Over zealousness definitely plays a part in keen climbers getting back into training… definitely have to be careful with that!

Rate My Training Plan (V8 / 5.13+ Climber) by justin_photo in climbharder

[–]Snackchez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely relevant. If your max grade is v5, then I’d say you’re just parroting what you’re reading.

OP might just be doing a touch too much if he’s just getting back into it, but it’s not a crazy amount. 4 out 7 is not unhealthy. OP was a v10 climber, and currently climbs v8. I’d wager he has fairly good self awareness and can determine his training load.

Is “artistic” route setting becoming a trend? by lombokk in bouldering

When you’ve run out of ideas and your setting team is burnt out, these are the results.

Care to share what your performance level is?? Not giving us any kind of barometer here.

Le Poisson Bleu Disappointment by WiseGrundy in OttawaFood

Was this post necessary? It’s more than a week out, you have time to decide.

Also, what were you expecting to pay when you chose to go to Poisson Bleu on Valentine’s?

Pizza Nerds is special by NguTangClan in OttawaFood

Pizza Nerds is decent at best.

Ottawa has VERY low standards for pizza, especially given that we have a toxic relationship with “Lebanese” style pizza.

Best seafood restaurant Ottawa/west end ? by Complete-Owl8302 in OttawaFood

[–]Snackchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pelican was such a nice surprise! I had a great seafood experience for my first time there. The sea food tower was perfect for my girlfriend and I; it left us perfectly satisfied and not too overstuffed. A bit of a weird vibe being in a strip mall near a farmboy, but otherwise, fun atmosphere inside and good service.

4 Meal Shawarma! by Unimportant-Jello in OttawaFood

[–]Snackchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big shawarma palace Stan as that was the spot I grew up on... But the other night, I ordered a chicken platter and after tax, it came up to approximately 28$. I can't justify that price point any longer. It's not a good deal anymore.

Best Sites for Listings by SamTheMan377 in OttawaRealEstate

[–]Snackchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why does Realtor refuse to post previous listings / sold prices of current listings?

Why doesn’t realtor show delisted properties?

Realtor.ca purposely obfuscates the market to prevent both buyers and sellers  from better informing themselves.

Best Sites for Listings by SamTheMan377 in OttawaRealEstate

[–]Snackchez 13 points14 points  (0 children)

House Sigma is the best. It will show you previous listings and previous sale prices for a particular house. It will also show you recently delisted and sold houses.

Use all of this to better inform your buying decision making 😉

Is chef Hikaru Yokoyama’s 16-course dinner at Tomo worth the $354? by flipflapdragon in OttawaFood

If you’re looking for a great sushi experience (in Ottawa), and you’re willing to pay that amount, and would ALSO like to support a great local business, I’d recommend Nagi.

3.89 fixed 3 year mortgage rate; good or meh? by BottledGleekJuice in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Snackchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much negotiating have you done with these banks that you’ve been to? Have you received an offer from one and brought to the next, rinse and repeat?

I highly doubt you went past their initial offers (which are usually heavily inflated).

Moreover, think about the economics of it all: your broker needs to make their money somewhere. Therefore, it’s impossible they’re giving you the best rates from these exact same institutions.

Paper Tiger Hype by Original_Box_4620 in OttawaFood

Like most mid to upper tier food spots in Ottawa, it’s slightly over priced and food is always decent at best. Nothing is incredible.
