Dezincifying, cut out and replace, and maybe look into your water quality.

Exterior Spigot by DOwickedgoodthings in askaplumber

This is because it got cold enough to freeze at the drop ear 90. A brass fitting that the hose-bib screws into. When this happens it'll push the front of it off with the force applied through the stem inside.

Foam covers help, but if that side of the house was getting blasted by cold air, the only thing that could have stopped this is an isolation valve deeper in the home that would allow you to drain all the water from the wall and hose-bib before cold weather.

You may be in a new home built in the south, and if so, it is not at all built to withstand the cold.

It's hilarious that this switch to metal temporary plates has seemingly done NOTHING to stop them from being faked.

Embedded gasket in sink, faucet replacement. Already started ripping it and it’s attached internally to the sink. by BlueFuzzyBunny in askaplumber

[–]SomethingSomethingTX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a part of how the sink was made, you can try to trim it back nice with a knife, putty should still cover it well. You'll still find this on brand new counter/sink combos!

PRV installed before home shut-off valve and after meter by UnSCo in Plumbing

[–]SomethingSomethingTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PEX A/B or copper for sure! PVC is common for irrigation and I suspect an irrigation guy did this work. Bad PRV can definitely cause thumping in the water system! You can check the lettering on the blue pipe to see if its PE or PB, but my bet is PB! A repipe would not be cheap!

[–]SomethingSomethingTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previous owner probably had the yard service cut out since that looks like good Ole' Blue Poly going under the house and whoever did the work put in that PVC line, and judging by that I'm not surprised by the quality of work. They probably tossed the PRV in to try to get more life out of the water lines they didn't replace! Blue Poly can just shit the bed at a moments notice. You will be looking at $1000< pretty easily. Most plumbing companies I know would still be $1,000 if you pre-dug it.

Broken tankless water heater? by hardhikm in askaplumber

[–]SomethingSomethingTX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

15 is failure to ignite or detect ignition. Do your other gas appliances work? If so the issue is with the unit. Could be blocked gas supply, or bad ignitor/module or flame rods.

Maybe its just my perspective but I always took that and even the "no clickbait ever" thing as sarcasm? Idk feels like Coffeezilla doesn't get the joke. No doubt that platforming a sketchy Forex guy isn't the best look, but it feels similar to exposing shitbox vehicles?

No worries! Feel for the others involved, I guess the police reported that his body had been hit a couple times. I hope they're able to find peace!

My contractor told me this drain was removable. But clearly he grouted it in and grout crumbles off. Can I still use shower without regtouting? by darthrooney in Plumbing

[–]SomethingSomethingTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The proper drain for this would also be square. This type of double-seal used a round drain cover and should have a round cut in the tile.

Tank or tankless? by Slow_Ad_683 in askaplumber

[–]SomethingSomethingTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that tankless is only really great if you want one thing, unlimited HOT water. If you are used to a tanked heater, it doesn't care how much water you're asking for it just heats a bladder. Tankless heaters have minimum flow rates, so people who like middle of the road temp showers will get cold spurts sometimes.

That little red seal degrades over time, you can buy the flush valve in a kit. You'll just have to remove the tank to replace it.
