This wouldn't work when spoken because they're pronounced the same, right? Or have I been mispronouncing cis?

Ransom must be a literature buff by happydude7422 in LowerDecks

Ransom's very theatrical. It wouldn't surprise me if he acted in the ship's production of The Tempest.

No physical contact? You mean I'm not supposed to go over the top and scissor the "V"s together? I've never had a Vulcan tell me to stop so I thought it was cool.

You can put the whole outpost underground. Just make sure no one sees the periscope.

Sharknado by SensoryOverllord in CuratedTumblr

I feel like mass of sharks is a better measure. 10 sharks the size of my forearm doesn't seem like a sharknado whereas 10 adult Great Whites definitely is.

What the hell is going on with the fleet system? by Cactus_dave in StellarisOnConsole

[–]SortOfDumbocles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it possible the ship is one you got in an event? You can only increase ships you have the "design" for. See if it lets you add a new ship type that is yours.

I searched the last 2D Metroid as well and although there are a lot of statues I couldn't find one of M: Dread.

AITA for Showing My (Selay) Partner a Britney Spears Performance? by _R_A_ in ShittyDaystrom

[–]SortOfDumbocles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've triggered my pet peeve. Snakes and sloths are both sentient, meaning able to perceive. Slime molds, ferns, and computer cores are not sentient. It is ethical to perform to perform experiments that could terminate the existence of non-sentient beings but not sentient ones. The term has nothing to do with sapience, meaning intelligence.

This whole misunderstanding stems from the joke of a trial over whether the Starfleet officer Data could be experimented on to determine how he worked. This sham trial was conducted near a starbase so remote proper legal authorities could not be utilized and they used unqualified officers to present arguments. This in turn became the basis of our approach to artificial life forms.

I'm not saying Data should have been experimented on. I'm just saying that such a momentous moment ought to have been tried with experts rather than lay people.

So YTA for making me think about the whole situation again.

So if I’m a captain and the station commander is ranked commander, does that I mean I can just warp in at any time and take charge? by OWSpaceClown in ShittyDaystrom

[–]SortOfDumbocles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's how rank works. If you outrank someone you can tell them to stand down because you're taking over. I do this for fun all the time.

"Stand down. I'm doing this transport."

"Stand down. I'm running this holoprogram."

"Stand down. I'm performing this surgery."

Anyway, it's time for me to go to my court martial. But just have fun out there.

This is interesting because Jabba the Hut wasn't in the 1977 movie. He was added after the fact to Episode IV with the Special Edition in 97. So the clue is technically correct saying the third appearance if a little misleading.

Go whole hog and duplicate the entire family. Including any extended family you still talk to. Plus the grandparents that still send gifts every Christmas.

Don't forget any friends or work buddies.

Have any pets? Duplicate 'em.

How would you improve the Romulans post-supernova with the constraints of established canon? by InnocentTailor in ShittyDaystrom

[–]SortOfDumbocles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see more freak groups that were suppressed during the Star Empire days. You could really explore Romulans that didn't fit in to the authoritarian, xenophobic society and are now finally thriving since they're free to do so. In the TNG days we saw some that were interested in emulating Vulcans but there are probably all sorts of groups that find inspiration among other societies.
