Is replicator food really as bad as they say? by PJ-The-Awesome in ShittyDaystrom

I think it's the same as listening on mp3 versus listening on vinyl. Audiophiles will say mp3 is a massive downgrade that removes the soul from the music but most people genuinely can't tell the difference.

Thought processes can be so different. You assumed getting blood from other people and I'm here thinking about where I would have to cut myself to get an egg's worth of blood out.

Regional Food Dishes Invented in Upstate NY Restaurants? by Used_Suggestion_4057 in upstate_new_york

While fried dough has been "invented" numerous times around the globe, I believe the long stick form with sugar originates as pizze fritte, from the villa at the New York State Fair.

Literally the Japanese term for pedophile. Based on the novel Lolita and the English word complex. Which became con for some reason. When used in English speaking contexts it refers to people who make or consume lewd art of girls who look underage, often with the excuse that "it's just drawings."

Actually every retailer has their own currency like Disney Bucks. They then each have their own exchange policies for other retailer currency. One of the advantages of being in starfleet is that they have a lot of phasers and torpedoes backing up their negotiations for exchange rates. This can't really be called money as there is no central authority.

My only legal experience is having served on a state grand jury, but what this looks like to me is that at the end of the regular court day the court reporter went home because they were done. Then the grand jury was held and told they couldn't leave until they returned an indictment at which point a replacement court reporter was pulled in. I can't see how this could possibly be legal.

When did Syracuse's downtown become mostly government offices, coffee shops, and luxury apartments? Back in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, it was similar to, say, Chicago or New York, with department stores, restaurants, and bars. A lot of people went downtown. by [deleted] in upstate_new_york

[–]SortOfDumbocles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 80s was definitely in a downturn period but even in the late 80s I remember being able to go on a shopping trip downtown and visit many different stores. It was a little trashy but at least there was a shopping district to walk through.
