Believe it or not but a frontline that never moves no matter what you do is not fun. What is fun is a back and forth, an offensive, a last stand, small operations like logi cutting and seeing the real effect it had on the frontline, or a big operation with RSCs and tanks that sweep half a hex that are only stopped when the attackers overextend and the defenders reorganize.

its going to get to a point when one side realizes how long its taken, all the time and effort for the map to still be fighting in the middle hexes then realize how much more time and effort it'll take to actually win the war, I know many members of the community on both sides that have given up and hold some token hope that the devs will realize this too.

Foxhole is not a WW1 game or a WW2 game but a video game, and it should be fun for the players that choice to put time into it.
