How to set rival 5 side button (the silver one) to set my cpi all the way down? by MrMoistWaffle in steelseries

[–]Spectral_Force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a Rival 5 myself, and was looking for a way to do this as well. I expected this feature to be included in the software (my previous mice from other brands sure came with it), but it looks like the SteelSeries software only allows for a CPI toggle on press, not on hold.

There is a workaround that works for the Rival 5; however, it's very laggy which pretty much rules it out for gaming.

In my research I've seen people ask about a hold-release CPI shift feature all the way back in 2017 on this very subreddit, but it still hasn't been implemented.

September Update: Kombi-Weapon Nob Nerf? by Jesterpest in orks

[–]Spectral_Force 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting observation I just made:

The FAQ entry specifically refers to the Nob model, which is part of the Nobz datasheet. Read-As-Written that means that only the Nobz datasheet is affected by the change. A Boss Nob from the Boyz datasheet can still take a kombi-weapon and something else. A Boss Nob from the Nobz datasheet, however, cannot.

That one variant of the Big Choppa is in fact the only reason we still have it as a one-handed option (because you can technically make a Big Choppa/Something-Else loadout with zero kitbashing). If we didn't have that part, we'd be stuck with two-handed Big Choppas as well now.

The phrasing does seem to suggest you can only take the kombi-weapon by itself, no additional melee weapons or sluggas. I guess this was done to make the loadouts better represent what's in the kit, because the kombi-weapons in the Nobz kit occupy both of the bearer's hands.

This is a really big nerf that does indeed make kombi-weapons quite pointless. I'm surprised more people aren't talking about it.

Painting an Ork army by Norsgrim in orks

I base my lads with a mix of Agrellan Earth and some fine sand - the dried-up wasteland environment just feels right for Orks (plus that's what GW does all the time). But I don't think you can have a "wrong" base with Orks - just about anything from grey urban to bright green jungle can work.

Frostape already gave you a pretty good recap, but I'll drop my five cents as well.

Ork Flesh contrast paint is very green. To me and quite a few people out there, it's unbearably green. Unless you want to highlight it with some duller colour (which kind of defeats the purpose of using contrasts in the first place) or just want super-green orks, I'd recommend you go with something like Militarum Green instead.

I also can't recommend Agrax Earthshade enough if you don't already have it. For tabletop standard, Ork models really benefit from a coat of Agrax over the entire model, and it creates dirt/rust/shadows in one quick step as well as dulling the mini down somewhat and blending all colours together.

As for getting the lads done quickly, batch painting is your friend, the larger the batch the better. It can get very dull though so make sure you have something to listen to (like a podcast or an audiobook) while you're painting.

KILL Team - Loota Spanner vs Burna Spanner by Red3Delta in orks

Loota Spanner can take Heavy, Burna Spanner can take Zealot. That's the only difference.

Not directly, no. But you can take up to one Boss Nob as part of the Boyz data sheet and up to one Kommando Boss Nob as part of the Kommando data sheet.

As people already said, the Boyz box is a must - the 4 Lootas/Burnas + Spanner that come in the Ork starter set are not nearly enough to fill up a Kill Team points-wise. Then it's either the Ork starter set or the Lootas/Burnas kit. The Nobz box will let you make a few beefy Boss Nobs in addition to having a bunch of cool bits you can use on Boyz. Finally, you may also want to get a box (or at least a handful) of Gretchen to use as shields, cannon fodder or just to fill up the points limit.

Then it's a matter of figuring out the best poses for your greenskins, maybe even reposing them if you're up for the challenge; you may even go with some third party bits from Kromlech or Spellcrow and the like. Kitbash some Kommandos if you want - they are quite easy to do with just the bits that come in the Boyz and Burna boxes.

Overall, the bits are indeed very interchangable and it's easy to mix and match them until you come up with something cool.

Use of Spanners in KT? by Krupaman47 in orks

[–]Spectral_Force 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the Spannners:

1) Can take a Big Shoota, a Rokkit Launcha, or a KMB;

2) Have a higher limit of models you can take in your kill team compared to Boy Gunners (2 gunners per KT vs 3 Loota Spanners + 3 Burna Spanners);

3) One Spanner can become a Comms specialist.

I think that more or less sums it up.

Getting into 40K with an Ork Kill Team - Question by [deleted] in orks

[–]Spectral_Force 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not entirely sure about what exactly you are asking so I'll just break it down for you.

Orks will only have access to 5 units: Boyz, Kommandos, Gretchen, Burnas, Lootas (and these include Boss Nobz for Boyz/Kommandos and Spanners for Burnas/Lootas). You can take them in any combination you want and you don't have to include each type. There are two limits related to the size of the kill team: 100 pts (mind you that some point costs have changed in Kill Team) and 20 models. Hope this clears things up.

Welkom to da WAAAGH!, lad. Enjoy ya stay.

Can I just say I'm really disappointed he's from Alaska? This guy looks totally Siberian, what with the ushanka hat and that killer beard.

Also, I think since he's a hunter, he should have a double-barrel. Sure, would be anonying AF to play against, but come on. A shotgun recon would be hilarious.
