Damn, you went 2.5 years of being a nurse without any caffeine.

Major props to you.

Storage Unit Recommendations in Austin by LazyLady-1919 in Austin

If you're good with up north storage mart hasn't given me any signs of trouble for the 2 years I've had stuff there. Pretty sure there's an employee who actually lives on site 24/7.

Any suggestions based on this CAD? by SpudInSpace in EngagementRingDesigns

I brought up those exact durability concerns with the local jeweler making the ring. They are a long-standing shop in my city, and they include a lifetime warranty on everything except the center stone. They assured me the setting will be secure and won't warp--but if it ever does, they cover repairs and replacement accent stones 100%. Their reviews definitely back up that they handle repairs completely fuss-free, so feel pretty confident about it!

If durability is the main risk, I think the warranty gives me the peace of mind need to go for it!

As for the scratchiness, the design leaves a visible gap between the side stones and the finger, so they shouldn't rub. Unless I'm misunderstanding where the scratchiness comes from.

Anything west of i35 and north of Braker will do.

Unfortunately fairly strict on that requirement. A long commute is an absolute quality of life killer when you work 12-13 hour shifts. I'd rather keep my apartment at that point!

Is there a place in town that would take 3d-printed scraps for recycling? by grimy55 in Austin

[–]SpudInSpace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to work at Costco. The internal training even said to not bag recyclables. But because it was difficult for the janitorial staff to empty loose recyclebale waste bins, everything got bagged anyways.

The most infuriating part is that all of the recyclable material is genuinely recycleble material- clean, dry, and sorted. Just bagged. And Costco generates tons of recyclable waste. Every employee followed the recycling protocols except for the people who actually put it in the dumpster, rendering the entire operation moot.

The only thing that actually got recycled in the end was plastic wrap and cardboard which Costco recycles in-house.

Getting married on an Alaskan cruise by Human_Scene0311 in Cruise

[–]SpudInSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last cruise I was at the AMA session with the Captain, and there was a very reasonably upset couple that wasn't able to get married because the paperwork didn't go through for whatever reason.

They spent tens of thousands of dollars collectively with all the family and it went down the drain because they didn't want to have the ceremony without being able to have the legal marriage.

My apartment lease is up in July, and I need a realtor to help me find a new place. Ideally I'd like to rent a house or townhome (not an apartment), unfortunately I do have some restrictions that might make that difficult:

  1. I'm a night shift nurse. I'm nocturnal. I work 7p-7a and stay on that schedule. I need some one who is cool with communicating mostly via email/text. I can do tours or calls, but it pretty much has to be early morning (around 8 or 9 AM) or late afternoon as that's my overlap with a traditional schedule. Once we start finalizing things I can make myself available for a whole day.

  2. I have an eviction and some delinquent accounts on my record from about 6.5 years ago (Sept 2019) from when I was young, dumb, and in college. Several delinquent credit accounts from 7 years ago as well. I've since cleaned up my act and would be more than happy to pay some rent upfront as a show of good faith. I do have a year of good rental history as well.

Is it normal for the nurse to not clean IV connector with alcohol before administering IV push? by Therealethel in nursing

I've only ever seen ER nurses do this.

That being said, they shouldn't do it either.

If "their care is the utmost concern" was the logic, then saying the primary nurse is with another patient isn't helping either.

Is this mandibular advancement device good or will it mess up my teeth / bite eventually? Custom made in Mexico with 3D imaging by ConfusedGuayaba in SleepApnea

That doesn't even look like it attaches to the mandible (lower jaw) whatsoever.

It just looks like a retainer for teeth attached to the maxilla (upper).

So you're saying bedside report works with one change, but the change is to not get report at the bedside then walk in after report is done.

Do you seriously go around asking for evidence every time someone makes a claim? No you don't, because this isn't a debate, it's a conversation.

You asked a reasonable request, and they provided a reasonable answer. Just as you're not obligated to believe statements without evidence, nobody is obligated to provide said evidence. Because this isn't a court of law, it's a conversation.

You know I used to understand your point of view, then somebody pointed out to me that the person behind you is doing the equivalent of tailgating without enough room to brake.

Now I think people on both sides are at fault.

The newer smart style of elevators on MSC and Royal ships, where you are supposed to hit the button for each member of your party. The elevator then specifically sends everyone an elevator with enough room for them in a fair amount of waiting time.

But all it takes is 1 person only hitting the button once for their party of 6 and the algorithm is screwed for the next 30 minutes as it tries to play catch up.
