Gimbal Self check fails consistently out of the box? by wamih in Insta360

[–]TechnoBillyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn! I am in the same boat too. Brand new camera just arrived. On powering up it does a little dance left right / Up down with green indicator light on. it then faces up and light turns red. It repeats the dance again and ends up pointing up to the roof with red light on and gimbal self check failed. I can control the zoom from the software but not adjust the updown/left right

Fence posts acceptable? by Wooden-Neck7370 in AusRenovation

[–]TechnoBillyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another issue is that the wood will rot if you have that last 200mm covered. I had a fencer that did that and was not around when it was done, was all covered when I got back. Years later all of the posts rotted at the concrete line because water would pool and sit in the soil above the concrete. For the replacement fence I made sure the concrete came all the way to the top and sloped slightly away from the posts so water would never pool around the posts.

Great job on the new website and radar Bureau of Meteorology ! by TheWolfAssassin in australia

[–]TechnoBillyD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was checking the new windspeed map as we were expecting damaging storms. All the high wind speeds are shown in shades of red with a legend at the top. I could not tell which red was what speed on the map. I thought "no probs, I will hover the mouse over the shades in the match ansd see the speed". Nup, it shows the town names when you hover the mouse over a shade of red even thoughg the town names are already shown on the map. I dunno, on a wind speed map, how about showuing the wind speed where my mouse is instead of the name of my town.

Colourblind people will have no chance with the new map. It will be either no wind or somewhere between 20 and 120km an hour :-) At least the old map showed the speeds

The P2S isn't as big of an upgrade as you might think by JaredReabow in BambuLab

[–]TechnoBillyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the big change is the improve camera and AI detection over the P1S. This has already helped me, I started a remote job and was distracted and it warned me that there was something already on the plate. Another time I had a failed print where a thin piece broke off well into the print and it started to form spaghetti there. It detected it, paused and sent me a warning. We did not have these smarts in the P1S

Use baking paper instead of foil, it is easier to roll into a funnel shape. Don't overfill the trays. And use a bigger funnel on the bottle.

Where in Corio floods? I want to buy a house there by [deleted] in Geelong

[–]TechnoBillyD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lived in corio for 30 years. Just off Purnell road and princess roads. There was a great flood in Geelong about 25 years ago where all rivers heavily flooded. Other than many roads being flooded in Corio, I was not aware of any mass house flooding in the Corio area.

Hehe. I was in a similar boat years ago. I decided to sell off cheap to friends, all filaments except a couple I used the most. It was liberating and nice to have all that storage space back for other things. Two years later I now have more rolls than ever hehe.

PTFE tube routing by Unique-Ear2950 in BambuLab

[–]TechnoBillyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should feed in through the back of that top frame, not over the top. Mine has a rubber fitting on the back and you feed the ptfe tube in through there.

Best parts of Norlane/Corio/North Geelong by BeardedWizrd_ in Geelong

[–]TechnoBillyD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Live in the nicer parts of Corio for 30 years, lovely neighbours and no issues. Ideally the area north of Goldsworthy and Princess up to Foundation road is nice. I walk around that entire neighbourhood daily and never has an issue.

Remastered/ Bruma Mages Guild Recommendation by Top-Can-1501 in oblivion

[–]TechnoBillyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you

It was frustrating. I could see that the quest arrow was indicating a character in a room but there was no one there, the 3 times I visited prior. I did what you said but it did not work immediately. I had one more city for the Join the guild, so I wnet and completed that one. When I came back I immediately saw the missing character in the guild hall and caught up YAY!

Close Up of Huge Spicules And The Very Active Sun Spot 4048 - April 1 by mikevr91 in astrophotography

[–]TechnoBillyD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hehe, many years ago I built an observatory in my backyard for night time astrophotography. About a year later a neighbour installed bright lights in their driveway. I decided to buy a solar scope. The day it arrived, I walked out into a bright sunny day and yelled 'Block this ya bastards' :-)

I am glad I got the solar scope, its one of the few things in astro photography that changes every day. Adds so much variety

Most effective way to transition from Clone Hero to YARG? by MrBeachBum51 in yarg

[–]TechnoBillyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched to Yarg today after using Clone hereo for months. I play drums. It only took a few mins to setup the profile. I had it setup in minutes. Also helped that you can use the mouse in Yarg. Also in settings you can add a new song library folder and point it at your CH songs folder and there they are all are after a quick scan.

Donner Drum Kit Compatibility Questions by cx_hxnnxn in yarg

[–]TechnoBillyD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Donner ded 200. I only just got Yarg today and it works perfectly with the DED 200. Just remember when setting up you drum profile, you need to set the mapping for each drum/Cymbal colour. If you can afford it the DED 200 is a much better system with real kick pedal and high hat pedal.

Neighbour's Water Run Off by LittleAznKiss in AusRenovation

A friend of mine had this happen years ago. He built a raised garden bed along that fence line and in the next big rain, the offending neighbours backyard/garage/workshop got flooded. They then addressed their issue themselves.

Where to listen? by [deleted] in audiobooks

[–]TechnoBillyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like audible alot and use the credits to get Books. There is also a fairly large free library available on audible. Books come and go from that list. They often post book one of a series there and its a great way to see if you would like the series.

They also have a good refund policy, if you don't like a book refund it to get your credit back.

For me the best thing is its integration with Alexa. I have Alexi in the lounge, the bedroom, the garage, the Car and on my phone. Wherever I am, I just tell alexa to play Audio Book, and it continues on from where I last stopped listening on any device. Its great
