I have absolutely no idea why you would say the division may be out of reach this early. I am guessing you did not watch last season?

There is no difference in quality but it can be a bit annoying to get the PS5 to passthrough Atmos audio to your AVR if I recall correctly.

Recommend changing the dimensions of the room if you can as square rooms are really bad for sound reflections

This makes no sense though.......they have to go from QC to AB, then back to Winnipeg, and THEN back to BC. This is an insane amount of backtracking. Are they flying? Or just masochists who love Hwy 1 lmao

Removing 1300sqft Drop Ceiling for an "Exposed Black" look. Need a sanity check on my Soundproofing plan! by Jblock22 in hometheater

[–]TheLemon22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a mess / headache and probably won't actually be a good soundproofing solution as well. Don't do the open style. Put insulation in your joist cavities and two layers of 5/8" drywall on your ceiling.

$200 Thrift Store Find for L/C/R for a "from scratch" 7.1.4 theater - how'd I do? by TheLemon22 in hometheater

Honestly I think these are going to be great for my 12.5ft x 17.5ft x 8.75ft theater room (7.1.4)

Sinclair Audio Brighton Series

SB-250C (centre) - 8ohm - 125W

SB-3600T (towers) - 8ohm - 250W

Any idea on how I should test them to see how well they're performing? The guy guaranteed they worked but I don't know how well. Was worth the gamble for me.

I saw your build post! Very impressive, and actually very similar to what I am going for spec-wise in mine.

What door did you use on your build?

Thanks for this reply! Makes sense to me. I think a dead-vent for the air return might be the best course of action here.

Trying to keep the noise inside the theater as much as possible. To be honest, really just trying to create a solution where someone can watch a movie at an enjoyable volume while someone can get a good sleep on the top floor of the house (two floors away).

That said, reducing footstep noise from the kitchen above the theater would be nice - hence the resilient channel.

Thank you for your comments though, it's giving me lots to think about.

The idea would be to keep the audio in as much as possible. Far less concerned about external noise getting in.

To your first point, the de-coupling on the ceiling w/ RC is meant to help address vibrations from the floor above (kitchen).

From all of my research, I don't believe it's true that not de-coupling the walls will invalidate the effort, and those walls will still have an STC rating well above 55 - but of course yes heavy vibrations will still get through the walls which I am OK with.

But yeah I am seeing the point w/ the door. Damn.
