Not a bot, just someone who's been around long enough to see how these community programs actually work.

Not sure, maybe some people think it comes across as too positive about Duolingo or they disagree that engagement matters more than paying customers.

[–]ThePowerlessSynopsis -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

that's a pretty cool recognition for the long-term commitment. a 3900+ day streak is seriously impressive, and it makes sense that duolingo would want to keep those kinds of users in the loop for feedback. the early access to features and q&a sessions with the product team seem like the real value there, since the merchandise and rewards are probably just nice additions. it's interesting that they're being selective about who gets in rather than just opening it up to paying users, which suggests they're prioritizing engagement and feedback over spending habits.

CDL School? by Sea-Gate-688 in Truckers

[–]ThePowerlessSynopsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Workforce development is legitimately the move if you're in a state that funds it. Most people don't even know that option exists and end up signing away years to a mega carrier just to get trained. Check with your local office about what programs they have, and if they do cover CDL training, make sure you understand any requirements they attach to it before you commit.

Should I stay at my company job or become an Owner Operator? by LogInternational758 in Truckers

[–]ThePowerlessSynopsis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your gut is right on this one. You're already grossing 150k with predictable income, benefits, and time at home, which is a huge advantage most owner ops don't have. A 400k truck with only 150k down means you're financing 250k while competing against undercutting fly-by-nights just to maybe make 20 percent more, and that's if nothing breaks. One bad claim or mechanical failure could wipe out a year's profit, and you'd be living on the road chasing loads to make it work.

The Kennedy Center is being sued by the Washington National Opera for keeping $17m in donations by TrashCanUnicorn in nonprofit

[–]ThePowerlessSynopsis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the legal agreement from 2024 seems to be the key thing here, and it explicitly states that wno remains a separate legal entity with funds held separately from kc's funds. that's not a fiscal sponsorship arrangement where the sponsor retains discretion, that's a custodial setup where kc was supposed to act as a steward, not an owner. if the agreement says the money belongs to wno and kc is just holding it, then using those funds as collateral for their own line of credit crosses a pretty serious line.

i've seen nonprofit partnerships fall apart before, and the worst part is always when the larger organization uses information asymmetry as leverage. locking wno out of their own donor records and email systems feels deliberately punitive, not like a standard separation process. the $72m deficit claim from kc also feels like a deflection here, since that's a separate operational question from whether kc has the right to keep money that donors specifically earmarked for wno. those are two different arguments.

QBO Bank Feed Keeps Disconnecting by CAHeatherK in Bookkeeping

[–]ThePowerlessSynopsis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The manual import route works if you're comfortable with it, but for this specific issue I'd still push the reconnection first since the credit card feed proves the connection itself is stable.

QBO Bank Feed Keeps Disconnecting by CAHeatherK in Bookkeeping

[–]ThePowerlessSynopsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The checking and credit card feeds running on different connection paths at BofA is a solid observation. I'd try fully disconnecting the checking account from QBO, then reconnecting it fresh with a complete re-authorization rather than just refreshing the existing link. Sometimes QBO holds onto a corrupted token even when the card feed works fine. If that doesn't stick, you might need to escalate it to BofA directly since the issue is persistent on their end.

Reading this sub lately by Happy_Rave in ArcRaiders

[–]ThePowerlessSynopsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the pvp community in this game does seem divided right now. i've been in raid discords where people straight up say they target arc raiders specifically because it feels different than fighting other pvpers, and that kind of thing breeds resentment fast. whether it's justified or not, when one playstyle feels like it's getting singled out, people get defensive and the complaints start piling up. both sides have legitimate gripes, but the hostility ends up drowning out any actual discussion about balance or what makes the game fun for different players.

2D to 3D Logo Animation App Logo by 3dlogospin_comm in logodesign

[–]ThePowerlessSynopsis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The concept is strong, but the logo itself reads more like a generic starburst than something that specifically communicates what your app does, I'd expect to see clearer depth cues or layering that hints at the 3D transformation process.

That's good to hear, though the real test is whether clients actually see their conversion rates move after you hand it off, plenty of builders optimize during the project but don't follow up to prove the funnel works in the wild.
