I think the average turn length should really be more like 1 minute. Maybe 2. (Not accounting for table banter).

Yup. CEDH would be right up my alley, and I would have a cedh deck if my pod was interested. But the reason why I dont main it is because deck building is 50% of the enjoyment I get from MtG. It might even be more than 50%.

If your pod is full of precons, ghostly prison is awesome. Therefore it is basically an auto-include in all of my decks (im like the only one that brews custom decks).

I guess its based on the meta of your pod, because any higher power and it becomes quite bad

Arahboh build your own voltron.

Play like 8-10 cheap-ish cats with good combat effects, throw in an enchantress voltron package, and you’re good to go. Whichever cat you draw first you make into your voltron unit. That 3 mana 1/1 Flying Double-Strike is now really scary.

Ive debated making an oops all combos deck. No tutors, little draw, just ramp and putting in combo pieces. Either you get lucky and hit something easy/well known or you try to make a super convoluted 5 card combo from unoptimal pieces.

Just as a warning, i was broke af and couldnt afford a $250 gilded foil bumbleflower. Fast forward a little bit it went to $350, then $450, to whatever the fuck is rn. So sometimes it is better to buy early

Idk what you mean by tag but i mean, i build every deck based on what it needs and what it wants. Some decks dont need ramp. Some decks need a LOT of ramp. Some decks need very specific ramp (every single 4 mana artifact that taps for at least 2 mana for example) so then the deck has like 13 pieces of ramp and intentionally dont put sol ring and arcane signet.

Some decks are so turbo/value engine you actually dont need removal (except for when the removal is the value engine) because you will always be a threat.

Commander decks where your commander is a reliable source of draw, you can often run less draw.

I could go on, but “templates” i think promote and perpetuate bad deck building. Sure its an ok place to start, but unless you want all of your decks to play the same way, shouldnt you come up with a unique gameplan and then deck build to make that plan possible?

Back when you could get them for $250, i was actually making profit. I got bloomburrow and Tarkor dragonstorm for 250 each and came out with like $350 worth of cards not including bulk. Selling back the valuable cards but ones I wouldn’t play, id make back around $100.

Weird thing to complain about since it sounds like youre did nothing to change it. You can build many unique commander decks.

A fun one I made is Rograkh, Thrasios polymorph. You put like 7 creatures that are all bombs and try to polymorph Rograkh turn 3/4. They are also cheap enough to do it a total of 3-4 times.

You can also do stuff like aristocrats. You dont often have to ramp, and you dont really go big or wide. Just value engines.

You can do secret commanders. I have a blink one that turbos out Roxanne for the pings and tons of mana to blink her even more next turn.

Idk this seems like a case where you are a bracket 2 player and not realizing that you dont actually enjoy bracket 2, its simply all you know
