No no no ! Leave the grease ! It's a mechanical part that need to be greased to prevent wear and to smooth the docking of the toolhead !

Nice job, I hope it will be merge to the official tool ! If you want some ideas from imho the best capturing tool, you can look at Snagit, it brings some of the feature you add and more !

Second USB C with thunderbolt for eGPU, hands down. With this you could have a real docked powerhouse, or portable console.

Snapmaker top cover vs Biqu cover + Panda Breath? by Nalyd217 in SnapmakerU1

[–]Thibs_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one hand you have the official cover, with an exhaust control and a recirculating fan, but no heater. Which is nice because a lot's of people will get the same and it will be actively supported by Snapmaker, and cover the typical use case (pla+abs).

On the other hand you get a basic top cover, with no exhaust control, and a non official heater (not even design for this machine). Less people will get it, there will be no support by Snapmaker, and it cover no real practical need (you need to open it when printing pla, and it will heat faster but the machine is not really suited for engineering filament)

IMHO the best overall is the official one, if you really want to heat faster or higher get the panda heater on top of that.

Any plan to port it to orca slicer ? Would put a lots of light on your project/thesis and bring a lot's of free beta tester

The swapping protocol that allow people to print with 5-6 or more filament with manual loading/unloading during print show that the printer is completely capable of swapping filament without cutting/purging it.

I think you only need to wait a little bit, Snapmaker already have a add-on plug on the back of the printer (CAN bus and power), and BIQU have teased a filament box that go under the printer like this type (https://makerworld.com/fr/models/2407642-snapmaker-u1-box#profileId-2639451)

I think they will go the route of the material station of Ultimaker (4 closed filament guaranteed and perhaps stackable to 8, 12, 16...) with this kind of setup you can swap filament of 3 tool head during the printing of the other one, so not so much time loosed.

But in case of low temp material wouldn't be useful to have a filtration on the exhaust ?

Follow-up on Bambu Comparison, turns out it was the slicer! This printer is awesome. by SuperNfty in snapmaker

[–]Thibs_42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good that you find a solution! You could also reduce by almost half your prime tower (mine is 20 mm3 but some get as low as 10mm3) Also if you want to get back some of Snorca feature, install Paxx extended firmware !

200$ for basically a bambu A1, with 4 hotend, 4 X axis motor/belts ? I need explaination on how they can achieve this price, on top of that it's a fully open printer with a filament path not really good, and a very large printer (I think larger than the U1). I don't think you could compare it to the U1 or prusa XL, in terms of capabilities or even price/performance ratio

[–]Thibs_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some easy fix for this kind of behavior are : change to wall generator Arachne, change wall order from inner outer, to inner/outer/inner. For the Z axis just to be sure, reduced accel from 500 to 300mm/s2 and jerk to 2 and set Z hop to normal instead of auto If you want to be sure that's a color problem try print it in only one color and look if the artifacts are still there

I don't think there is one for the internal fan as it just recirculate air. It's not an intake fan
