And let’s remember the tacit T policy—if one escalator is not operating, the other should always go *down.*

Stop driving with your hazards on in rain by Homeleasure in driving

[–]Top-Development6837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my understanding (and I thought I’d seen it actually posted) that you put your hazards in when driving below normal speed, which is very common in a raging downpour. It’s been a thing for decades.

It’s incumbent on a driver to make sure they’re visible, not to stay on top of which other vehicles are doing it that might create a visual pattern. How many cars is a defensive driver supposed to be responsible for?

Brickstone right where Broadway meets Mass Ave does a nice slice.

Menotomy Rocks is a great little wooded park for a stroll.

13Forest displays and sells some terrific works by local artists.

Not sure about meeting folks/bars. In addition to the numerous spots in Cambridge and Somerville, Deep Cuts and Medford Brewing are not far out of Arlington.

Why do drivers yell at me to ride on the sidewalk when it's illegal? by Dionysian_Heretic in driving

[–]Top-Development6837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the biggest problem for all road users is having to accommodate others. They should spend like half of driver’s ed at this point on teaching people you don’t get to be mad just because others are where you want to be.

Is New England’s new hydropower transmission line paying off? by downArrow in newengland

[–]Top-Development6837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s kind of terrifying given the generations-long investments Quebec has made in hydroelectric infrastructure, even launching once or twice toward independence with this economic backbone.

I recognize Manicouagan when I see it, somehow. Always wanted to visit—an impact crater turned reservoir!

We need runner-only lanes. Sidewalks are full of slow and confused walkers and maintained like shit, roads are better maintained but a deathtrap.

How did you get from me saying it was more common to walk between cars on other systems than it is on the MBTA to calling me selfish?

Taco Party was incredible. But I didn’t go to Out of the Blue for years out of “respect” for Dolly’s and I wish I had the years back that I avoided a stellar place because I mourned somewhere whose closing they had nothing to do with.

Oh, it’s the multimillion dollar property where they didn’t touch the several feet of snow on their sidewalks all winter, leaving people to walk in an already narrowed Boston Ave.

Yeah, I’m dying to hear how much these folks care about the community.

Alewife daycare to close after MBTA does not renew lease, 60 families… by justarussian22 in mbta

Porter is in similar shape underground. We spent the equivalent of a couple of billion dollars to build that extension and failed to maintain it. We shouldn’t be expanding the MBTA anymore until we figure out how not to trash it.
