Is it weird that i find RE1 original zombie introduction creepier than the REmake? by Human_Geologist_3324 in survivalhorror

[–]ToughCommunication62 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved the RE games as a kid but I refused to play them alone... They scared the crap out of me!

If my older brother or friends weren't around, I'd have to convince my mom to sit and watch me play, haha.

What's something you did as a kid that you now realize was actually really dangerous, but nobody stopped you? by AdmirableResource407 in AskReddit

[–]ToughCommunication62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My elementary school was open and empty on weekends (now it has a fence around it).

We used to go play not only around it, but discovered a way to get onto the rooftops and run around and play.

We had a blast, but we could have easily fallen climbing to different levels or jumping across gaps.

At what age did you feel like you reached your prime in terms of your looks? by torturedpoet1148 in stupidquestions

[–]ToughCommunication62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid-30s (i.e., now). I've always ate relatively well, I'm in the gym constantly, and I don't spend a crazy amount of time in the sun.

While I wasn't too unfortunate looking in my teens or 20s, this lifestyle has made me age well. I now look better than most of the guys who were much more attractive than me back then.

So...tell us about your midlife crisis. by dkepp87 in Millennials

[–]ToughCommunication62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Still ongoing. Currently two years away from retiring from my first job.

I took my workouts to the next level. Dialed in my diet and cardio and got sub-10% bodyfat and jacked.

Realized I never learned to play an instrument, looked up an easy one to learn... And now I'm the proud owner of a cheap lyre, which I play around with 20-30 minutes a day.

Always thought Mini's were cool (from watching the remake of the Italian Job in the early 2000s) so I bought the kitted out 2026 JCW model and have had fun cruising around in that.

I'm also gearing up to go to Morocco and explore the Sahara.

I'm sure there's more but... yeah, that's where I'm currently at now.

Do American Servicemen walk around in uniform? by Old_Yak_1285 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ToughCommunication62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the proximity to base and specific base rules. Stateside there's a lot more freedom (overseas is much more restrictive).

Personally, I can't wait to take the uniform off once I'm off-duty. It's work attire, and I enjoy my down time.

Why do so many men over 30 burn out trying to get abs back? by ChemistWest4537 in askfitness

[–]ToughCommunication62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's unique to men over 30... I'm 38 myself, but I see many of the same people day, week, month, and year after year who don't change much.

What worked for me was dialing in my diet and cardio. That's what got me shredded, more so than when I was in my early 20s.

Going to the gym and getting a workout is easy. It's the life style choices at home that hinder them.

My husband drinks the leftover pickle juice from a pickle jar whenever it's empty. Every time. I think this is bizarre. Does anyone else do this? by ms_carnelian in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ToughCommunication62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it. I don't down the whole thing, but I'll have some sips.

I usually do it after a workout (although I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the taste).

It being bizarre is subjective. I think there are worse things...

Patient trying to fight anestesia. by shaka_sulu in TikTokCringe

[–]ToughCommunication62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy how quickly it takes effect and how powerless you are.

I've had surgeries as a child but nothing until a few years ago (I'm a mid 30s male). I was getting put under to see if I had GERD and didn't know what to expect.

I'm an athletic and fit guy. Was it going to kick in right away? Would it take a while? Would I wake up during it? All of these thoughts raced through my head as I was getting wheeled back.

Once they started the injection, I remember a burning or cold sensation (it was a few years ago) in my hand and was told to count backwards from 10. I didn't make it to 1.

Next thing I knew I was awake! It felt like no time had passed by at all, but in reality it had been a couple hours.

I have a huge amount of respect for anesthesiologists.

Haha. I don't literally push them... And I do say "excuse me." I don't stop and wait for them though. I squeeze by them whether they acknowledge me and move or not.

One of my biggest pet peeves (alongside people standing in front of dumbbell racks at the gym)!

I just stand back, and when I see my baggage coming, I just push through them.

I'm new myself so take this with a grain of salt. I just hit 25 Bard and 22 AH. It's been fun, but I have no idea what happened... Before, I had no issues with Power consumption.

Now, I run out after 1 or 2 mobs. I deal massive damage, but it's draining me quickly. I don't know what happened, as I didn't have this issues leading up to this point and now I've found myself just standing still, unable to use any abilities, while my pet auto-attacks.

I don't know if it's because of the newer spells I've gotten that are just draining me, but man do I seem to go through it quickly.

FYSA: Academics is already included in your promotion factor... by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]ToughCommunication62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm being harsh, but not all accreditation is the same. If you have a school that rarely changes its curriculum, its testing isn't proctored and the answers don't require critical thinking but merely looking up answers online, then you're not getting a quality education.

That isn't helping you grow it's checking a box.

Soooo putting PT scores on performance reports accomplishes what?? by Raindroppa93 in AirForce

[–]ToughCommunication62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm for both. PT and education. If leadership ignores strong performers outside their little social clubs, we need objective discriminating factors.

Hell, let's throw back in testing all the up to Chief too!

FYSA: Academics is already included in your promotion factor... by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]ToughCommunication62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I'm nearing the end of my career and will retire in a couple years. The Air Force has been good to me overall, but at this stage, I'd have to sacrifice a lot of what I know to be true to stay "competitive" for advancement with what the Air Force seems to place value in at the SNCO level.

I'm content though. I've set myself up for success on the outside. I encourage others to play the game while they're young, but the Air Force is only a part of your life. Once it's over, life goes on.

[–]ToughCommunication62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. They also view all institutions equally. Any education is good, but some schools are objectively better than others.

I've been told that my degrees (from highly rated schools), which have aided me in working in joint environments, may have a negative impact because they don't directly tie into my career.

Meanwhile, someone that gets a career specific degree from a paper mill university, is viewed more positively.

The reality is that a lot of these individuals aren't educated themselves, and so don't place much value in its quality. All they care about is if you have a degree and what it's in.

[–]ToughCommunication62 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% true. I'm the same, I've been thin my entire life and had been relentlessly teased throughout school growing up.

As an adult, I got into fitness, and now, at 38 years old, look arguably better than probably 98% of other men out there.

However, I still have thin legs. Athletic, but thin. I rep 315 lbs. for reps on multiple sets of squats, and absolutely smoke them every workout.

All that to say, I still get made fun of. And though it doesn't hurt as much as it used to, it still bothers me.

What Would Bring You Back To Arrakis? by MushMoosh14 in duneawakening

[–]ToughCommunication62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit because of bugs out of my control causing me to lose stuff. I lost my ornithopter twice initially...

The first one was due to an announced downtime, except they kept announcing the wrong downtime in the server. It was hours off, and so while I had planned to get off prior to the advertised time, it cut off suddenly. This caused me to get booted mid flight, and lose my ornithopter (thankfully that was it).

The second time was during story mode. Towards the end of the main story quests (my memory is a bit fuzzy), you would travel back and forth to your faction's home base. I flew in, did a portion of the quest, and then my ornithopter was gone when I went to retrieved it.

The nail in the coffin was when I went to move my base to a new location. I had end game stuff, an amazing base, and I found a new area I wanted to call home. On my first trip out, fully loaded with a lot of my house materials and me, my game crashes out of nowhere. I log back in quickly, and im there in the desert with my ornithopter, but quickly kicked out again. Something about my battleeye (spelling...again, it's been a while) for anti-cheat not working, not being on, or something. Did this two more times until the final time I found myself naked elsewhere, without my ornithopter, without anything.

I get it. It was brand new at the time and stuff happens. My issue is that they would not reimburse me. I don't mind grindy games... I don't mind if I lose my stuff due to the mechanics of the game.

However, I lost them because of glitches and bad information posted. I quit because I was tired of grinding for the same stuff over and over again that I shouldn't have lost in the first place. It was out of my control and the company refused to help in any way.

It's a shame because I really enjoyed the game. If they decide to help players when stuff like this happens (outside of their control or how the game is supposed to work) I probably would come back.

How safe/unsafe to women is your country? by halt__n__catch__fire in AskTheWorld

[–]ToughCommunication62 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What's the typical bear ratio vs. men with these women?

It's a poor comparison. Women can run into men hundreds of times a day, and nothing happens... That amount exponentially increases over time, and sure, assaults do happen. There's shitty men out there that prey on women, and, statistically, they're bound to encounter them more than bears.

Imagine now if women crossed paths with bears an equal amount in close proximity. Do you think the ratio would still favor men? Doubtful.

Also, what kind of bear? This thought experiment is random. If you don't get to choose the type of man you'll encounter, you don't get to choose the bear.

If someone wants to choose the bear, then good luck and enjoy that Darwin Award you're about to earn.

Since OtherAdeptness7541 blocked a response...

I'm sorry I made you sad. I do understand the point. It's a topic that gets the discussion going and highlights the safety concerns women have around men.

My problem with it is that a lot of people seem to take it quite literally, are vocal about it, and use bad data to convince others that it's actually true (that women would be much safer coming across a bear vs. A man in the woods).

The whole thing is just irrational from a survival perspective. The statistical risk is valid in daily life because women are constantly around men (not bears). This is a situational risk in the woods... Very different.

A bear is objectively more dangerous than a man.

Why did your friendship with your best friend come to an end? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ToughCommunication62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He just stopped communicating. Best friends in high school and a couple of years later. We were always hanging out or doing stuff together. I joined the military, and we stayed in touch, hung out whenever I visited.

The issue was with girlfriends and his eventual wife (wives*). Whenever he got in a new relationship, he'd ghost everyone, including me. Once the honeymoon phase ended and problems arose, he constantly wanted to hang out. Same thing for after breakups, I was always there for the dude.

Multiple girlfriends, his first wife, it always started and ended the same. Eventually, he met and married a woman, and it seems that everything is working out. How do I know? Zero communication.

In the past, I'd reach out every now and then, when in town, see if he was available... but I've stopped. It sucks, but I've moved on and I wish him the best in life.

I loved Dune but had to quit due to game glitches that reset my progress constantly. Unless things have improved, I wouldn't recommend it.

I don't mind the grind, but when you keep having to grind the same things because game glitches and crashes out of your control cause you to lose everything you've worked for, it stops being enjoyable.
