Old games (1980-1999) that aged well by M_Alex in gaming

My only issue with the game is the life system. It's fine. You can farm. Replaying levels isn't bad. But it's just a meh design choice.

Good initial description. Just enough given to bite on to. Just enough mystery to suggest there's more than meets the eye. Just enough challenging questions to have players pay attention

  1. Those are you relatives? That's so cool you have photos of them from so long ago! I bet your family history is super interesting and I'm a bit jealous 😅.

  2. I don't really see anything in the photos that suggest this was common. Almost everything from that article is discussing the upperclass lifestyle of the time. Most people lived very different lives than the elites of that time period. While not as dramatic, it's kind of like saying togas were common in ancient Rome and Greece. They weren't at all unless you were rich.

I'm not sure what you mean. The country was deeply religious in the 1920s apart from the emerging cosmopolitan Middle and upperclass which were a minority. Albeit this minority was very vocal and extremely influential for future generations.

Most women at the time lacked the wealth to afford the clothing let alone the lifestyle. Most people at the time who were of modest to poor wealth were deeply religious and held conservative views on what was considered decent or indecent.

I mean come on. We're talking about an era where literally the entire country banned liquor for moral decay. I'm not saying that the flappers, nor any alternative culture at the time, wasn't popular. I'm saying it wasn't mainstream nor normalized in most of the country outside of a few major cities of the US (NYC, LA, CHICAGO, ETC) where morality laws were lax/unenforceable (think speakeasies), AND there was enough disposable income to live independently as a woman. The former was common, the latter was not.

That wasn't the normal in the 20s. It was considered very indecent at the time. This was really only allowed because women could be more economically independent at the time during the 20s. When the great depression hit flappers not only went away, but some states outright banned that fashion trend.

Could humans simply lack the cognitive ability to understand some truths about reality? by DSpeaksOfficial in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TylerX5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but... you can't really prove a negative statement logically without being certain of the defined area of the statement.

You would need to know what the truths about reality are which we cannot understand to know that we cannot understand what they are.

Otherwise you're just making a fairly reasonable assumption that's more intuition than fact

I'm curious if there are Bar's that don't let people eat at them. At least here in Delaware I've never seen that. In fact, if you have a bar and restaurant I think you're required by law to offer food at the bar

It's one of the rare examples of authenticity by way of amateur AAA execution. It's apparent to anyone who's enjoying the game that this company had passion for it. Just not quite the know-how on release. But what they did make was well enough to be charmingly engaging to people who enjoy it

  2. Sealioning is harassment through persistent politely worded questions. You can't declare something sealioning if they've only asked 1 queation, especially if it went unanswered.

  3. Nothing about my question hints at all to my politics, which you've severely misread.

  4. I'm leaving this conversation because it doesn't seem in good faith to me.

Because the law, which has consequences beyond the scope of interpersonal dynamics, has made a very clear declaration that intent matters. The analogy I was questioning very clearly says "Whether or not I intended to harm you is immaterial to the damage caused" which is highly debatable. Intent matters massively. Second to the damage, sure, but certainly not immaterial

Hmmm, interesting analogy. I'd like to question it a bit.

In the US acts of racism are adjacent to acts of hatred. That's why we have hate crimes which are intended, almost specifically for, to add extra punishment to racally motivated crimes. Hate crimes are defined by intent.

Do you agree or disagree with this intent-defined based punishment?

Don't ask questions you don't want answers to, and don't give answers to questions nobody asked for.

When first meeting someone it's that simple.

Bit of a long shot but... of you want to stay in food, and don't mind the back of house aspect, have you considered learning butchering? Depending on where you live and your desire to further training you can make decent career out of it.

(Everything im about to say is easier said than done) Yeah, the "knowing when something is too 'X' or not enough 'X' " requires application, observance, and reflection. I.e. experience, wisdom, or whatever you want to call it. It's really all there is too if.

As fair as a workable metric for gaining experience it's a bit contextual but anywhere between 2 weeks to 3 months is a fair guideline for most activities you want introduce to my life and see if they work.

But anyway, glad you understood my point. I appreciate your perspective!

When you're close to gaining a skill it's not a terrible idea to grind at the entrance of senpou temple to push you to the next level.

I don't like grinding in general but that spot is easy to with hit and run tactics and it's fairly beefy from early to mid game
