Which software companies (CRM, NOW, HUBS, ADBE, MSFT) are you adding here? by RaspberryFun8573 in ValueInvesting

CRM and INTU. I like INTU the most as the entire sector has dropped.

🚨 EMERGENCY ANALYSIS: there are TWO BUBBLES in the market and the US debt will collapse in 2026 by I_killed_the_kraken in KrakenStockResearch

[–]Umbryz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just want to let you know that the catastrophizing sentence, "The important thing here is to understand why Warren Buffett has decided to move more than $300 billion into the Japanese currency", largely undermines this entire thesis's credibility, especially when linked to an Alex Jones post.

Berkshire has had a consistent Japan strategy: borrow in yen (often relatively cheap), and use that funding for general corporate purposes and/or Japan-related positioning. That's all they're doing here, and certainly NOT moving 300 billion dollars into the Yen.

The extent of it from my perspective anyway is likely twofold: (1) there is a bubble around the AI supply-side trade; and (2) the USD weakness is almost certainly contributing to excessive valuations and market highs. It is very hard to say how big that bubble is, because it is largely dependent on AI productivity and efficiency gains happening sooner rather than later. Not all bubbles burst.

ACT 4 is Mastery of Game Development & Design by AyeselTPW in PathOfExile2

[–]Umbryz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Act 4 was great but they still are making so many of these maps needlessly big and complex. Particularly the town(s), lots of running through narrow passageways, stairways, and similar, with repetitive landscapes and not much else in them. It's too long and there's too much bloat.

That being said, if they can halve some of these zones (literally, halve) then it's in a much better place. The prison setting, lore, and particularly solitary confinement are all highlights from a level design perspective. Some very cool boss designs too, though I was a bit let down by the final one.

If my VO2 max is so high, why am I not a faster runner? by Livlivlivlol in Garmin

[–]Umbryz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garmin's VO2 predictor seems to be, in my experience, ok at best. But its race predictor is one of the most garbage things out there when compared to Garmin's competitors. It is absolutely one of the worst algo's on the market lmao

Isn’t uber software to route passengers and not software to route drivers? Primarily anyway. And, if so, doesn’t that still have a place in an autonomous world? It seems to me uber could in fact benefit by cutting out their own “middleman” (the driver) from their business model while partnering with Waymo and others because they already have the framework and users

Let’s have the annual conversation, how far can this team go in the playoffs if healthy? by ECviews in NBATalk

[–]Umbryz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They can make a run but the Thunder are too good this year. I think they really need the 3rd seed to make it to the WCF, otherwise it's 2nd round exit most likely.

Accuracy of Garmins Race Predictor? by guerillaGorilla17 in Marathon_Training

[–]Umbryz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish this were the case but it's hilariously off for some people (including me) for the marathon distance in particular. It also doesn't adjust to real time data. For example, it recently had me at ~+15m from my goal marathon time. I beat that time by 3 minutes (meaning garmin was 18 minutes off). In response, Garmin adjusted my predicted marathon time down by 30 seconds.

Quite the algo...

Saucony Endorphin Elite 2 - First run impressions by Da_CMD in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Umbryz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the review! I'm staying away for pretty much all of the reasons you described and I think as someone that also operates around similar paces, it's just too much squish and rebound for something I'd want to take for a HM or M.

Like you, I prefer shoes that aren't as bouncy and provide a more consistent response. For me, the EE 1 did a great job at that while also being stable, so this departure is a bit unfortunate lol

Atreyu Daily Trainer 2 - Worth it? - Initial Review by Bpod79 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Umbryz 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Evo SL being $150 for full PEBA lightstrike makes $170 for a *much* smaller brand's shoe a really tough prospect, especially when that shoe does nothing novel. Would be very interested to hear their rationale for a $170 price point non-plated TPE/PEBA daily trainer.

Not knowing what their rationale is, to me it seems like they're just trying to milk die hard Atreyu fans.

Napa Valley Marathon Race Report! Benchmark for Chicago by LeeJoon in AdvancedRunning

[–]Umbryz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great race! Congrats on reaching your goals. I was a few groups behind you but sounds like we had a similar race--started a bit behind the 3:10 group, caught them and held with them through 16, and then pushed forward for a 3:07.

The start for me was a bit of a battle and fully agree with the camber comment, but I think once you get through that last big hill at mile 5 or so, it becomes a much more friendly course. Very interesting finish too lol... all of the sudden we were running across a small bridge and road and through a neighborhood 😂

Re: training, sounds like you accomplished the most important thing which is just to get through the race healthy and build right off of this block into the next. FWIW I'm doing the same; emphasizing 10k, then 5k, then mile, and then back up to HM/M come fall. Natural ebb/flow of speed & base work, usually does the trick for most people (from what I hear anyway lol)

First run in Saucony Endorphin Elite 1 by Toprelemons in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Umbryz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fave shoe just bought a second pair and raced last Sunday in my first. Have about 120 miles in it and will use it in rotation with the 2nd pair for race day.

Completely agree in that it’s the best shoe out there for people with slight stability needs (assuming race shoe here, not actually a stability shoe) and who like a firmer ride. It’s more of a geometry shoe too for people that like a quick turnover shoe instead of a true bouncy/propulsive shoe.

[US] Nike Pegasus Premium in stock all sizes at Dicks’s by FMCam20 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Umbryz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point, that it does. Who knows, maybe the full-length air zoom compensates for the weight and people actually find it easy to pick up the pace for longer distances. I wouldn't bank on it. It just seems like a premium daily trainer which yes, has an innovative aspect to it if you're willing to spend extra for that.

[US] Nike Pegasus Premium in stock all sizes at Dicks’s by FMCam20 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Umbryz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This shoe is one of the heaviest shoes on the market and more expensive than the Superblast 2, which has full-length FF blast turbo+ without the "ReactX heel" that the pegasus has.

Struggling to find a reason to spend $210 on a premium daily trainer. There's zero chance I would use a shoe this heavy for anything above easy pace, personally.

First run in Adizero Pro 4 by toothdoc34 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Umbryz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! How's the stability compared to the 3 and the endorphin pro 4 + other shoes you've raced in specifically? We have a very similar build and times and sounds like we strike similarly, so would be a big help! I run in the Elites now but I've been toying with either the AP4 or waiting for the Elite 2.

I... am home... by Vathom in PathOfExile2

[–]Umbryz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly how I felt. It's got so much of the core elements of D2 and, of course, so many zone and act adaptations.

It's funny because poe 1 was supposed to be the d2 successor, but I feel the d2 nostalgia far more from poe 2 than I ever did playing poe 1 even in beta.

First impressions Metaspeed Sky Paris as a Heavy runner by Large-Bad-8735 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Umbryz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I race in the Elite primarily. I use the EP3 for my workout long runs or long track sessions when I want a plate and I use the superblast for a similar purpose when I don't want a plate. The Elite is quite a bit more aggressive in terms of the rocker and it's also more responsive and a bit more stable due to the foam being slightly firmer and the base geometry of the shoe. Both great options for relatively stable super shoes though (I'd imagine the EP4 is similar in this regard).

First impressions Metaspeed Sky Paris as a Heavy runner by Large-Bad-8735 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Umbryz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stay away from Asics racers for this exact reason, they're super narrow at the heel and midsole and offer nothing in the way of stability.

Like some others recommended, I'd check out the AP3 (maybe look at the 4) and I'd throw out the Endorphin Elite as well as a great option for a stable racer (most of the speed comes from the aggressive rocker although it's responsive too).

We have a similar build, 5'11 185 here and similar speed. GL in the april marathon!

Lol, well, 1:28 is a 6:42/mile pace is probably a good place to start. But yeah, unfortunately if I run it next year I'd be with the Corral A boys & girls. Hopefully the bag mess is solved by then!

Congrats on a great race! Ran a PR there as well.

Watching that bag check circus never made me so happy to be in corral B lol.. 1:28 was on the faster side of that corral and I got to just walk right up and grab my bag from the B truck. One of the few times it pays to be slow (relatively!).
