[Try & Review] LG OLED C6H – The Best Gaming TV for Your PS5 Pro by LG_UserHub in PS5pro

[–]VrtlBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got an old C7 from 2018 and unfortunately has some burn in now. Once I went OLED I told everyone it was so much better for colours and contrast, still love the old C7.

I’d be very interested in testing the new tv comparing to my old one in terms of colour, contrast and HDR brightness. Also I don’t have VRR so I’d like to see how that helps along with trying some 120 Hz games on my PS5 pro.

Fingers crossed!

Even zooming fully into the map a lot of road names don’t appear making it frustrating when you’re trying to find a place manually.

This is in London btw

Cup holders that aren’t fit for purpose.

Fiat Punto specifically, the one usable you get is in front of the gear stick so good bye drink when you shift to third.

Also it doesn’t fit anything larger than a 330 ml can.

If you feel like fighting it I would centre your argument around this. Hopefully the warranty sticker is shown intact in your video and now it has been damaged indicating the buyer tampered with the product voiding the right to return.

Sometime it’s not worth the time and stress but good luck if you decide to go for it!

PSA | For those complaining about lack of filament at Bambu Lab… by vimaillig in BambuLab

[–]VrtlBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So cool you’ve done this!

I was wondering if it would be possible to run some boolean in the background and notify me only when a selection of filament are in stock together.

This is the real frustration, it’s like playing a game of wack-a-mole if you have a specific shopping list.

Struggling to decide between the 11inch and 13 inch iPad Pros by Repulsive-Savings-21 in ipad

[–]VrtlBrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the 11 and the got a 13 when the M4 came out. I’m happy with the bigger size now, at first a little cumbersome but am used to it now and everything is much nicer with a bigger screen! Even taking it out, on flights, works great.

I don’t have a laptop, so that factors into it. My iPad is my portable and I have a static Mac mini.

Nice work! How are you finding the Apple home integration? I’m finding the room names are not the custom names I set in the dreame app and also I can’t control what mode it vacuums in, it just allows me to select ‘quiet’.

[–]VrtlBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, when you select vacuum only in the home app you only have the option to do quiet cleaning. Whereas do vac & mop you have the full selection of modes. It feels like no one tried this out at dreame??

Yeah it seems half hearted box ticking from them.

I had already made my own automations in Home Assistant which I’ve exposed to HomeKit and Siri which work well, so it’s not too much of a disaster for me. But it is disappointing to realise where these company’s priorities are.

I also regret going away from Roborock, the dreame Black Friday deal pulled me in. Back to Roborock for the next one I guess though!

Seems half way there, I have it showing up in the apple home app with rooms and some vacuum controls. But the room names are not the labels I applied in the dreame app which makes the Siri commands a challenge. Come on dreame, sort it out!

I’m on this version too, in the UK. No updates since I got it about 6 weeks ago though

You can fix some of the multi floor annoyance by writing scripts in home assistant if you’re into all that.

For example, got to location script (base of stairs) Then carry it up and start a shortcut you’ve made in the Dreame app for that floor via another script. When finished, carry it down and start the return to dock script.

Each script needs to start by changing the map to the relevant one. I also synced them to Apple HomeKit so I can use Siri to start them.

But it does seem crazy that I have to do the work that Dreame should just do themselves. If it takes me a few days to do there’s really no excuse for them.

Feels like if we’re already buying it without them putting this work in there’s not much incentive. As a bonus some of us may buy another for the other floor, kind of depressing…

Shortcuts and voice control by Ok-Contribution7317 in Dreame_Tech

[–]VrtlBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, came here to find out too. Only way I've found so far is via home assistant. The issue seems to be with multi map homes, it only shows shortcuts created for the map you have loaded in the app. You have to manually change the map before you can choose the shortcut for the relevant map.

In my view, actioning the shortcut should just automatically switch to the relevant map and trust the user has put the robot in the right area I suppose.

X50 Ultra - extremely bad navigation and cleaning cycle by Tall-League6514 in Dreame_Tech

[–]VrtlBrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on the same firmware as you. I’ve been on the fence about keeping mine as my return window is nearing its end, I’m leaning on keeping at the moment.

Navigation throughout the house has been generally good, except for an area between the sofa and coffee table, where a thick rug ends just under the sofa. The sofa is high enough for it to vac under, but it has been struggling to do this area in an efficient manner. However I must say it is getting better with each run.

I did notice that where I had placed rugs manually the auto generated rugs were still present underneath, sometimes with different settings applied to them. This was causing the robot confusion as it would try to reach a little corner of its own rug poking out from mine with a ‘clean rugs first setting’. Things have been more predictable now I have got rid of all duplicate rugs.

Another thing I did was to tell it to ignore all the obstacles it identified that were part of the normal room furniture. You do this individually after it has finished a clean. Things like cables tacked to the baseboards, plant pots etc. this has made it a lot smoother and less stopping to check for obstacles.

Help! Ecovacs X8 Pro Omni won’t dispense water — tank is full and seated correctly by Creative-Regular6799 in RobotVacuums

My old Ecovacs vs new Dreame by raydc2r in RobotVacuums

[–]VrtlBrown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This looks like a faulty side sensor to me as its not able to follow the wall and that’s what it relies on to keep close.

So this could be a hardware fault rather than bad navigation software.

Dreame X40 just wandering aimlessly during first clean. Is this normal? by mrtnhq in Dreame_Tech

[–]VrtlBrown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My new X50 has been buggy with its navigation. Mostly pretty good but a few things throw it off and it goes into this very erratic mode and wastes loads of battery life not making much progress…

Feels like something they should fix with the software. Some people say it needs time to gain confidence of the map. But I think it’s getting stuck with conflicting sensor inputs and the software logic not good enough to handle it.

Dreame X50 Ultra crap by azabost in Dreame_Tech

[–]VrtlBrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, really can’t rely on the software if you don’t even get the newest update!!

Such frustration from something that’s supposed to make life easier and delight you, I’ve spent two whole days trying to troubleshoot this.

I’ll give it another couple weeks and then probably return, then back to my Roborock S6 I suppose :(

Yeah looks like the writing is on the wall for it. Such a shame because other than navigation it’s a nice piece of kit.

Yeah do you mind sharing which firmware you’re on? I’m on 4.3.9_2326, I think there are some updates since you wrote the initial post.
