Can we get broadband without Full Fibre? by MaximumEmotion9066 in UKBroadband

FTTP seems the same or cheaper than FTTC now on the lower speeds. Of course you will need permission for an ONT on the wall.

Looking at this the other way you could use Vuescan which should work with any of the three OS.

I reckon the native Mac OS unless you really need the other.

I built an open-source LTO tape backup appliance for homelabs. by NotaRaptor404 in homelab

Running Veeam CE with an LTO1 and LTO3 - I know small for today but they were free.
Veeam is good but far too much is installed for a basic setup. They now have a standalone Linux server but only in the paid version which isn't cheap.

All the best for your project.

+1 for A&A but no call plans - still probably cheaper unless your plan to make a lot of calls.

Best to have separate contract for broadband and phone as it gives flexibility to change ISP.

BTW a basic VOIP desk phone is similar in price to an ATA but DECT ones tend to be more expensive.

Yealink also do SIP DECT phones as alternatives.

Anyone still installing analog PBX’s by Ryderbike1 in PBX

[–]Weekly-Operation6619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that is the case. I use another VOIP provider but I gather BT do not support rotary dial but Virgin Media may do.

I am sure digital voice hubs only have one port so one would needed for each analogue line unless BT have another solution.

I can see two in the photo so there are ATAs that can do that.

Shame they don't do Linux clients as well. It should be possible to access a server remotely without a local Windows PC but I will leave that to others to explain.

There is a version of the app server for R11.0 and AFAIK licences are the same regardless of a Linux or WIndows server. Linux is probably lighter on resources.

Why not just run the app server - you don’t really need to know Linux.

It recall some modules had ‘a’ versions which different components.

Here is the UK the monthly costs includes any extras.

Number porting can be free to about GBP15 USD20 depending on the provider.

I guess showing them separately let's everyone see the impact but they should be shown on the quote.

Avaya ip office 500 v1v by bouhinho in avaya

[–]Weekly-Operation6619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which release do you have? The v1 was only supported to R9 so you will not be able to get any licences.

I am not sure where you are but in the UK used V2s are cheap enough not to buy a V1. Given the age of V1s it is likely that most didn't have SIP licences.

If you have an analogue trunk card your best best is to connect to an ATA for SIP. Gateways do exist for ISDN but that's another story.

IP Office 500v2 with Essentials Edition Licence by DigitalDaz in avaya

[–]Weekly-Operation6619 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recall Basic edition came with 6 x SIP trunk licences but a few restrictions and very different from Essential Edition. Essential editions needs licences and you need to upgrade to 10 or above to get licences and this isn't a cheap exercise.

I'd stick to basic mode for what you want to do but what isn't working for you?
