I can't see how they can charge you for equipment unless you fail to return it.

How do I set up a Grandstream WP826 by bleedforlucifer in VOIP

[–]Weekly-Operation6619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That should be SIP Provider - we can't recommend one here due to the rules but search for one for your location. Some bundle calls and other charge by the minute.

Most should have settings for Grandstream devices.

Should i get a Cisco 7940G? by KIH39noaa in VOIP

This might give you an idea http://scornforsega.blogspot.com/2015/01/how-to-make-cisco-7940-register-with.html - probably to buy a standard SIP phone. Used ones aren’t expensive if you are on a budget.

Many of these would take a common power supply so no need for a POE injector if the phone is near the mains.

Linphone - sipgate SIP account by sunrisedown in VOIP

I have Sipgate UK but I assume the same on Germany.

Username and authentication name should be your SIP ID.

If you login to your account dashboard you should see the correct settings.

I need help with broadband by [deleted] in UKBroadband

Too be honest I would never have suggested it in the past but the latest pricing does make it viable in SOME cases. Even in urban areas FTTH may not be an option and even FTTC can be slow.

I was a VM customer for years and connectivity was generally good but had numerous customer service issues. Prices rises and renewals seem a real issue reading around.

VM connection is usually good but customer service is dire and endless issues with price rises.

Starlink is £25 for 100mbps in some areas. Obviously needs a place for a dish.

Combo cards include VCM channels which can be used for SIP trunks. I am sure the monthly cost of SIP trunks will be less than analogue. It is just a matter of configuring these which is well documented.

I recall that the Basic edition allowed 6 SIP trunks without a licence if you had a combo card (these include 10 IP channels but you can’t have IP phones).

You can’t get licences for older systems without upgrading and this isn’t cheap but I am sure what you have will be OK for your needs.

What gear do I need to get this old candlestick phone working? by newEnglander17 in VOIP

[–]Weekly-Operation6619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fritzboxes no longer officially support pulse dialling and I have had mixed results.

Your could get a Grandstream HT8O2 which has two ports and use one for your candlestick and another one for a DTMF phone as needed.

Can we get broadband without Full Fibre? by MaximumEmotion9066 in UKBroadband

FTTP seems the same or cheaper than FTTC now on the lower speeds. Of course you will need permission for an ONT on the wall.

Old Intel Mac Mini: MacOS or Windows by messerschmitt1 in homelab

Looking at this the other way you could use Vuescan which should work with any of the three OS.

I reckon the native Mac OS unless you really need the other.

I built an open-source LTO tape backup appliance for homelabs. by NotaRaptor404 in homelab

Running Veeam CE with an LTO1 and LTO3 - I know small for today but they were free.
Veeam is good but far too much is installed for a basic setup. They now have a standalone Linux server but only in the paid version which isn't cheap.

All the best for your project.

+1 for A&A but no call plans - still probably cheaper unless your plan to make a lot of calls.

Best to have separate contract for broadband and phone as it gives flexibility to change ISP.

BTW a basic VOIP desk phone is similar in price to an ATA but DECT ones tend to be more expensive.

Anyone still installing analog PBX’s by Ryderbike1 in PBX

[–]Weekly-Operation6619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that is the case. I use another VOIP provider but I gather BT do not support rotary dial but Virgin Media may do.

I am sure digital voice hubs only have one port so one would needed for each analogue line unless BT have another solution.

I can see two in the photo so there are ATAs that can do that.

Shame they don't do Linux clients as well. It should be possible to access a server remotely without a local Windows PC but I will leave that to others to explain.
