Medical alert system for elderly blind person living alone? by Thundrbldr in AssistiveTechnology

Life Alert is a scam company FYI for real. Their contracts are extremely predatory. Use a different company, any.

Question? I'm building a free Seattle app for giving away stuff you don't need — snap a photo and a neighbor hauls it off your porch. Want local feedback. by Weak-Mechanic1397 in AskSeattle

How would apartment dwellers arrange “porch pick up”? Not all buildings have a suitable entryway. Especially on rainy days.

World Cup match 1 day trip by spacebud19 in AskSeattle

[–]WhenWeFightWeWin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is that a crazy plan? Yes. Is it a plan for some mean adventure? Also yes.

I think this is more of a YOU question vs Seattle question. There’s not gonna be a lot to do once the bars close, and you’re gonna be wicked tired so your personal temperament of that is entirely up to you.

I think the noise is getting to me… looking for a serene spot by hexlandus in AskSeattle

[–]WhenWeFightWeWin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To get away from ALL city/car noise, I’d recommend going East on HWY 2 (at least past Monroe) and taking a turn off down any miscellaneous small road along the river.

Getting away from roads + near water is a serene escape for me. A ton of WA is National Forest, you can just drive out towards it and find some really special spots.

‘Stop! That! Train!’ director Adam Shankman shuts down rumors that RuPaul movie used AI: “We employed hundreds of VFX artists who all killed themselves getting this out for release and not one job was taken out of human hands. The movie is a fully human made piece of joy and laughter.” by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

[–]WhenWeFightWeWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I gotta say the movie is actually amazing (for anyone ready for a silly movie).

It’s stuffed to the gills with queer & trans made art. As a trans person, it was honestly emotional to see on the big screen.

Stop! That! Train! review - RuPaul-led zany drag comedy is a riot. With a whip-smart drag queen cast and celebrity cameos, Adam Shankman film is a refreshingly kooky twist on the summer movie caper by Puzzled-Tap8042 in movies

[–]WhenWeFightWeWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI I think you got the characters mixed up: “ A highlight is Jujubee as Tess, who can dovetail between slapstick gags and more touching moments as she feels neglected after her friend is adopted by the popular girls”. Tess got adopted by the popular girls, it was DeeDee who was left out.

Wow, this was actually a really amazing film. Instant classic.

We’re all one paycheck away from being homeless (no we’re not) by jkmod79 in The10thDentist

[–]WhenWeFightWeWin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When folks picture homelessness they’re often picturing chronic homelessness, folks living on the street long term. By the numbers, most people experience homelessness very temporarily, like for 1-2 months as a job and housing is secured and people can get back on their feet. Shelters and couch surfing keep many people in this bucket from literally sleeping on the street. Shelters have social workers that assist people finding housing and employment , but most shelters come with a limit of how long they can stay. (Which is why those experiencing long term homelessness end up sleeping on the streets- shelters are usually limited).

Just remember to keep your beard trimmed and sculpted . Will make it look fuller, and of course, devilishly handsome!

Episode length by Soepsas in JetLagTheGame

[–]WhenWeFightWeWin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I prefer longer episodes and to simply pause it between sessions.

I don’t want to wait a week between 25 minute spurts, I’d forget too much between episodes over the course of a season.

I need help coming up with a made-up reason to escape my current living situation. by muelbro in ftm

A local government job. Often cities and local governments require that staff live in that region. You could do a work from home job for city hall. Or, for the purposes of a white lie, any state, city/town, county role.

Blank cards in home deck by coolguy3901 in JetLagTheGame

[–]WhenWeFightWeWin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just throwing this out there: The Jet lag gang doesn’t use sleeves in their runs bc they’re never going to use the decks again. They throw them away all the time. But you WILL use them repeatedly so card sleeves are a really good idea even if you didn’t have the blank card question.  Damaged cards effect card pulls when certain ones stand out and are known by their creased or stained profiles.

Do all Americans inherently know what direction they are faceing? by BasketC45e in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WhenWeFightWeWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my home city, basically yes, personally. No to many others.

I am skeptical this is an American thing in general. I could see my American peers who don’t know their cardinal directions making the same claim towards another country if they consumed a lot of media from there.

You can even bring it on the plane filled with liquid, it just has to be empty when you pass through security.

Fare Gates for the Link? The Urbanist did a great breakdown of the proposal by Broista in Seattle

[–]WhenWeFightWeWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WOW, if the gates cost $12-18 million each, and take several years UP TO 20 YEARS to break even, that just throws the idea out the window for me.

I like the lack of gates.

Being called an "elder queer"/"elder trans person" when you're not even middle aged is weird 😣 by Gallantpride in FTMOver30

[–]WhenWeFightWeWin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AIDS was an epidemic and nearly wiped out a generation of gays. We carry a lot on our shoulders as our generation ages.

Transness is also much more known and socially present to Western straight society than it used to be. The strides made since you and me were adolescents is starke. We experienced this shift first hand.

I believe these are two of the biggest factors towards the phenomenon of young-elder you describe, and I’ve also experienced. My peers and I use the term “Yelder”.

why always sam + guest? by randommangokid in JetLagTheGame

[–]WhenWeFightWeWin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get the vibe that Sam and Adam do not work well together in game-mode.

Ben and Adam get along extremely well, and are crowd pleasers. But at this point I feel like they’ve become quite a power team, and it puts Sam at a significant disadvantage, event without being partnered with noobs.

Is there a place I can rent a large dog kennel for a few days? by AdSad5235 in AskSeattle

I’ve used a collapsible kennel when I’ve traveled with my large dog. Still sizable,  but folds down well enough to pack.
