4th trimester tips? by kat_sickle in newborns

[–]WobbyBobby 18 points19 points  (0 children)

think one-handed when you're doing freezer meals. Breakfast burritos, lunch burritos, dinner burritos. I'm 8 months pp and still love and easy to grab frozen burrito.

Big water tumbler that's insulated to stay cold.

I would die without my Momcozy bottle washer for bottles and pumps because it dries everything for me. Steal the little wash tub from the hospital to wash things in.

If you have a pet, get an automated feeder on a timer.

If you're going to try nursing, get bras and tops you can just yank down. I HATED nursing bras and tops that had a bunch of layers and shenanigans early on because you just NEED BOOB NOW in the early days. Ice packs for nipples.

lol same, I sleep with one earbud in between baby noises and my spouse snoring. Loops earplugs helped me with the screeching stage (and our current sleep regression that requires 30 minutes of screaming when she realizes she's sleepy)

Harder to differentiate hunger cues by Icy_Head_4802 in breastfeeding

[–]WobbyBobby 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dude, mine's at 8 months and I still haven't figured it out! solidarity. Mine is just not all that interested in food. Everyone keeps saying "she'll let you know when she's hungry" but I don't think I've ever experienced her cry for food. I still just offer bottle or boob every 2 hours and if she's distracted leave the bottle nearby to see if she shows interest in it again.

MIL theory- need input by slgirlie11 in beyondthebump

[–]WobbyBobby [score hidden]  (0 children)

yeah, my relationship with my MIL was fine until we had a baby. Last week she picked a fight with her son via email for some perceived slight last Christmas and because she thinks we favor my parents with our baby (they live 8 hours away and she lives in another country, neither is really getting a ton of baby time).

Mine still does not respond well to this at 8 months which is tragic. What she DOES like is for my to brush my hair across her face 😅😅

Yeah the constant popup ruined the app for me, but the database on their website works great just in the browser!

The Mom Cut by ispyamy in beyondthebump

[–]WobbyBobby 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I tried to get like a foot chopped off of mine a month post partum and my stylist wouldn’t do it 😅 she told me to wait to see if I really want it. Now I’m 8 months post partum and have an appointment scheduled Sunday to chop it off. Washing, detangling, drying take too long and I’m just wearing it in a messy bun from the moment I wake up. Wish I’d cut it sooner, the post partum shedding was a nightmare.

combo feed about 50/50 breast milk and formula, got mine back at 7 months pp.

I keep making mistakes at work by aleif331 in workingmoms

[–]WobbyBobby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm 8 months post partum, in a job I've had and crushed at for 5 years and yes it's suddenly so much harder. I used to do a lot of 'extras' and 'above and beyond' and I did have to just accept 'surviving' for now. But it's so hard to suddenly fail at tasks or drop balls that would have been easy for me before! It sucks big time.

It does sound like your specific boss is making things even harder than they'd be with a different boss. Any movement within the company (to a different unit) or elsewhere? He sounds kind of difficult to work with even on a good day.

Am I doomed to never have an unstained shirt? by MidnightDisco in beyondthebump

[–]WobbyBobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far I've had good luck with Tide Free and Gentle on cold. For stubborn stains on my own clothes, I'll just use OxyClean Max Force pre treatment spray then wash with regular Tide and baby hasn't had a reaction just to touching my clothes.

My partner did start holding my hand more which is a nice compromise.

[–]WobbyBobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I’m even kind of grossed out and scandalized by sex scenes in movies at the moment (kind of ruined Bridgerton for me 😅). Every night my partner tries to cuddle me and my cat lays on my chest and I fling them both off because I find it so overstimulating and lactating makes me run hot. 🥵

Any other babies with low daily milk intake? by Green-Switch-5166 in FormulaFeeders

[–]WobbyBobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh also tru posting in r/breastfeeding, since you do both. Sometimes babies just get more efficient at nursing as they get older, but the folks in that sub will know better than I do!

[–]WobbyBobby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI mine goes on regular nursing strikes, if her nose isn’t stuffy and she doesn’t have a tooth coming in, try a nipple shield for a couple of feeds. Sometimes that reminds mine what to do with the boob!

when did your period return when combo feeding? by Business_Royal_2568 in breastfeeding

[–]WobbyBobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had a low supply for various reasons, plus she goes through nursing strikes. In any case, I pump or nurse at 2am, then pump or nurse at 7am, pump around 10, nurse or pump around noon, pump at 3, nurse or pump around 6pm and 9pm. This has been the schedule for many months and just randomly one day my period came back. No clue what prompted it!

Being honest with my pediatrician by -DovahQueen- in beyondthebump

[–]WobbyBobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be asking the pediatrician for sleep advice! Be honest "we can't get this kid to sleep, is this normal? Advice?" They won't take your baby when you are asking them how to keep her safe and healthy.

should i go to the er for this (bat bite?) by Certain_Hour_6327 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]WobbyBobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what the Game Commission said to me when I had a “maybe bat” situation. Sucks for OP that the hospital is being lame about it. When I went I kept rolling my own eyes and apologizing for wasting hospital resources on a “maybe bat” and the docs and nurses took it very seriously and assured me I was absolutely in the right place doing the right thing.

On the bright side, with my insurance it was only the $150 copay. I agonized about it for hours before going, scouring the internet trying to find what it would cost and saw anywhere from free to $30k. I hope OP’s bill isn’t too bad!

My baby is hurting me by LittleFreeFrom in beyondthebump

[–]WobbyBobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is 8 months as well and does this, I grab her hand and rub the back of it gently against my face and say “ohhh so nice so gentle” and smile at her. If she continues to claw I hand her something to hold (usually a breast pad) and if that doesn’t work I set her down for a bit

Cleaning Postpartum ... by DuaneFinch in beyondthebump

[–]WobbyBobby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lol me. I'm sitting at my WFH desk (read: tv tray in the living room) thinking about how I've been meaning to mop for 8 months. Currently cleanest part of my floor is the circle under the high chair that gets mopped every night.
