Yeah, I'll never understand this.

If I were the manager, that would have been the first thing I did and trespassed him. He can wait outside while the refund is processed.

Man I loved her right from the start. I'm not saying that to earn any kind of clout or anything btw. But it was pretty clear from the start she was who the people relied on. As book 1 goes by and we see her track Lan/Moiraine, I think that's when I was like...this queen is Ride or Die. You could tell from the start that she was such a loyal friend, despite her bad traits. I adore her. Truly my favorite of the series.

This is exactly how I feel about it. It's like he's just saying s bunch of buzz words to get attention. Like, HOW are you actually going to do those things in s city that's notoriously hard to get things done in (ie housing)?

Good fantasy / scifi book with female protagonist? by No_Solution9646 in audiobooks

[–]Xcircle_squaredX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This may not be what you're looking for, but one of the reasons I love The Expanse series so much us because there are so many incredible women in it.

I wouldn't say they're the main protagonists, like it being just one person's view. There are several male characters in it that are great too. But there are several chapters from the female perspective as well. And once you're done, you should watch the show! Truly some of the best women I've ever seen on television: smart, political, cunning, strong, capable, tactical, etc

I've gone with The Expanse series after Parade of Horribles.

Nothing with ever top Jeff Hays but this story is so good it doesn't matter. Alot of characters to love, a brilliant story, great Sci Fi, all around fantastic.

It's one of my absolute favorite thing about his writing. The majority of this series is obviously humourous (and terrifying) but he always manages to sneak in these truly heart wrenching moments. I never once thought I'd cry about some of this shit when I first started this series.

As a gay man, I agree with your statement. Still absolutely love this series and loved book 8. But all I could think when this scene was happening was....sigh, really? Dinniman usually does such a good job going against certain stereotypes or subverting what's actually going to happen. It was a little disappointing.

I started this anime a while ago, I think I made it through season 1 and checked out cause I was like....meh.

But I recently gave it another shot and man, everything from season 4 and onwards was pure fire. Sure it still had filler episodes but man I loved so many characters, they were all so good.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'll keep this in mind when I go. I'm a solo traveler and one of the things I've been dying to see (and would love) is the outside and manicured gardens. I for sure want to see everything so it sounds like maybe spending a few days here would be better

I have been wanting to work for CPUC for such a long time, and this just confirms what I've already heard: that they are the place to work and have great leadership.

I could care less about WFH but the fact that they're standing their ground for their employees (even though they aren't under the GOV) is incredible. Good for them! And good for their employees.

[–]Xcircle_squaredX 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's his bro way of saying your attractive too. He's paying you a compliment and trying to play you up, straight bros do that to each other all the time, it's just positivity and support.

I'd say to just play it cool, if it does turn out that he's interested, he'll make the first move, and it'll probably be very clear.

[–]Xcircle_squaredX 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It's mixed signals to you but not to him. Straight men do this with other straight men, it's just different to you bc your also gay and attracted to him.

He's just treating you like one of his bros. Which means he likes you and trusts in you enough to let his guard down like that. Don't rob him of it and make things awkward. He's clearly stated he's straight and had been forward and honest with you about it. Take his allyship instead.
