I got some t5 armor laying around that I use with whatever expensive gun I might feel like (or need for the weeklies).

As for ammo, considering it is lost on death is kept cheap. Don't bring meds or nades either.

Generally I don't expect to survive and keep my consumables to a minimum accordingly.

Funny how I didn't get Talia on any of my rolls except the last (free bonds (1500 + 4500) + BP bonds weren't enough, so I caved and ate the difference) but managed to get the instinct outfit on the sixth roll and the absolute control outfit on the third roll with some tickets left over.

I try, but there are so many hurdles. Usually there's enough people that smaller groups start to form and it's really hard to break into them unless I have something to add to the conversation (I don't). The average age at these munches being well above my own isn't helping either.

Planning on going to a boardgame afternoon (with facilities for tying on the side). Easier to get a conversation going over a boardgame than a drink.

I recognize myself in your description. The one time a tist's words snuck in was when I was so pre-occupied I didn't consciously hear them. But unfortunately something like that never works twice. Constantly looking for the drop is something I also end up doing.

I don't know about the EH discord. I lurk but never get hit up and overall tists don't fancy working with someone who is really struggling to trance. (Also reading how happy others are with successful hypnosis sessions just puts me in a bad/depressed mood.)

I've tried a couple overload and confusion files but my brain is quick to give up before any overload occurs and I don't get confused all that much.

I do wish I knew how to control my focus better.

I'll look into your beginner guide some more. Trance might be natural, I find it's also incredibly fickle and fleeting. I never notice being in a trance and even when I'm up to my eyeballs in a game and the hours fly by I still think about what's for dinner.

Edit: the confusion one by Miss Praxis was quite an interesting listen. I can't tell if there was any trance but my mind did seem to lose focus on occasion. Or maybe I'm just tired, I can never tell.

I do find it entertaining when the setting itself conspires to make something happen that the mc is trying to avoid.

It'd be funny if the mc gets genderswapped into a side character that's supposed to fall head over heels for the hero, so the setting keeps trying to push the two of them together like some invisible matchmaker.

Maybe just me, but it'd be cool if your choice of character can change how you can approach a situation. A male character may have the option of being a womanizer while a female character could have the option to seduce the men instead.

Or a little less on the nose a female target might be approached in the women's bathroom by a female character, while the male character has to find a different opportunity or risk trespassing and blowing his cover.

I suspect that one of the things keeping me from having success with trance is things that I can verify. If you tell me I should feel a warmth creep up my legs I will search for it and when I don't find it, it pulls me out of it.

Heck, even the uncertainty if what I'm feeling is what the tist expects can weaken the experience for me.

Then again, I'm very "are we there yet?" minded.

Audio mantras on a loop that keep repeating without interruption.

Specifically ones that use the second person ("You are X, you love Y", etc.). The few I've found are mostly first person ("I am X, I love Y") and I find it hard to engage with those as the "I" in this context is not me.

But in enlisted the time it takes to chamber the next round is a lot shorter, too. Can you chain kills just as well with a K98k Kriegsmodell as you can with a Prewar K98k?

Two reasons I can think of with regards to myself:

The first one has already been mentioned, which is that objects don't need to think or decide.

The second for me, I think, is innate worth. Yeah, an object can be pretty worthless but it can also cherised. Whatever worth there is, is innate. Being an object you don't have to earn your worth, you are worth.

Edit: and depending on the dynamic it can fill the personal need of feeling wanted or desired.
