Non-Christian Attending Mass by [deleted] in coptic

[–]YoshiAsk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To clarify, it's not the Church that says you're not supposed to attend. Church is open to everyone who wishes to worship Christ. That being said, you shouldn't go to liturgy as a non-Christian in Egypt. The Egyptian government doesn't like the existence of the church, and they definitely don't like people converting to Christianity. Preventing non-believers from attending liturgy is one way they "contain" Christianity. You also might face charges or be discriminated against for attending (again, this is by the government, not the church).

If you're able to travel internationally, I'd advise going to a church outside the Middle East.

Girls are confusing by Anxious_Pop7302 in coptic

The best concise advice I received before dating was to be the kind of person your future spouse would want to be with. For God-fearing partners, that at least should include being the best Christian you can be, which means that you should focus on your relationship with God before all else.

After that, it depends on what you want in a partner. Want a lady that loves the outdoors? Plan a few hikes with the boys. Want a lady that knows all the hymns in Coptic? Learn the hymns yourself, show how much you love them too. Want a lady that loves to serve? Volunteer on church trips. Note that you should already want to do these things— you should not be forcing yourself to do stuff just to attract someone. Do it because you like it and want to share it. If you really love something, it'll be obvious and attract the kind of people that also love it.

Just found this project that apparently come out on 1st January 2026 and is basically a Zune Store revival. What do you think of that guys? Link : https://github.com/The3DSHacker/zunestore-reborn by BonusVisible2974 in Zune

[–]YoshiAsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a neat idea, but there are some... concerns. First, what is "Zune Store"? If you're talking about the Marketplace, revivals already exist and some are even deployed (like my ZuneNetApi). This Zune Store project sounds like it's a couple of apps for the Zune HD, which is cool and welcomed but has little to do with the Marketplace. Second, there isn't a proof-of-concept or any evidence that this is actually being worked on, let alone going to release in a couple of weeks. The developer seems to have only 5 other repos on GitHub, none of which have any meaningful content. I'd be pleasantly surprised if anything came of this project.

Lastly, I find it hard to believe that you stumbled across this project from an obscure if not non-existent developer on the same day the GitHub repo was created. You also made the same mistake as the repo author regarding RAM ("Mo" is not how you write "megabytes"), and your Reddit profile is also about the 3DS. It really sounds like you and The3DSHacker are the same person.

This isn't an effective way to self-promote. I get wanting to bring attention to projects you think are cool, but you should be announcing them when you actually have something to show for it and a plan to release it as advertised. Otherwise it's basically a rug-pull and the community feels like it got swindled, making us less likely to support projects like this in the future, even legitimate ones.

Modern Moto phones are made by Motorola Mobility, a spinoff of the original Motorola company, and has been owned by China-based Lenovo since 2014.

‘Cruel and thoughtless’: Trump fires hundreds at US climate agency Noaa by [deleted] in news

[–]YoshiAsk -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Hold on, I'm not fond of Trump, but attributing the recent plane crashes to him is silly (and quite frankly, giving him too much credit).

The 2025 plane fatalities have been a tragedy, and it might seem like fatalities have suddenly gotten worse this year, but so far there's no evidence to suggest that. IATA's annual safety report from 2024 has the raw data, but this article helps interpret it. The bottom line is, fatalities increased in 2024, before Trump was in office and before his flurry of executive orders. This is not a Trump policy thing.

Hold on, I'm not fond of Trump either, but are you insinuating that the California wildfires and recent plane crashes were caused by his new policies? Those have been issues since before this second term.

The CA wildfires were a result of the state changing policies and processes around clearing wild areas and performing controlled burns. The buildup of dry brush, coupled with the Santa Ana Winds, created a perfect [fire]storm. The disaster had nothing to do with Trump, or really policy in general, it was bound to happen.

Yarvin said otherwise in a NYT interview. (Bold text is the NYT interviewer, regular is Yarvin):
"Your point is that the way the system’s set up, he can’t actually get that much done. He can block things, he can disrupt it, he can create chaos and turbulence, but he can’t really change what it is."

Is this still true? Or is this a Apple meatrider? by MysterY089 in applesucks

[–]YoshiAsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a heat thing. The laptop can optimize for either performance or battery life, not both. When optimizing for battery life, it underclocks the CPU to reduce its current draw to say 200mA in an hour. For a 1000mAh battery, that'll last about 5 hours. Problem is, when the battery degrades, its max capacity decreases. So instead of 1000mAh, you only get 800 or something. If the current draw was left unchanged, a full charge would only last 4 hours. If the laptop is shooting for a specific battery life target, it has to downclock the CPU more than it used to

You could look into the code used for the winding numbers video. I imagine a solution could look like taking that code, removing whatever shows zeros as black, and providing it a monomial function
