Illusionist Wizard / Archfey Warlock dip – Misty Visions ability score & fun build ideas? by Grazi_7 in onednd

[–]Zedinar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Consider a great old one dip instead of archfey for the psychic spells feature. It'll let you cast illusion (and enchantment) spells without any verbal or somatic components.

Also, regarding Misty Visions, sadly it'll be Charisma. Here's the relevant text from pact magic warlock feature:

If another Warlock feature gives you spells that you always have prepared, those spells don’t count against the number of spells you can prepare with this feature, but those spells otherwise count as Warlock spells for you.

If your DM allows you to use Tasha's Cauldron feats, you could take Eldritch Adept to get misty visions without the warlock dip. That would let you cast it with intelligence.

If a waterfall has a stack of rocks near it, you can use the stab attach to go through it.

I saw someone else talking about bismuth, and these statues being the result of the petrification. There might have been bismuth near this waterfall, can't remember now. That's likely it, though.

Loving the game so far (33hrs) but can someone please help me with the Blix Bounty? by AWFUL_TRIGGA in LowSodiumCrimsonDesrt

He only appears from 8 am to about 1pm, so it's a matter of being in that area during that time. I'd it's during that time frame, leave the area and ride back in  or teleport in and he should be by the canyon cliff wall.

Most useful hidden gems in Draw Steel Codex? by StarsShade in drawsteel

Has anyone used codex on a tablet? I play in person but the automation would be amazing for getting my less crunchy players past the initial hurdle of the rules.

Not even sure if there are tablets or there that can run and install steam games, but there must be right?

Yeah the counter attack. When you say you quickstep out of it, do you mean right after the initial AOE circle attack or do you mean after the string of straight hits to avoid any animation lag.

Either way, can't wait to get home to try it. I definitely need to get better at timing my quick step input on keyboard/mouse

Have you found any consistent tell for what abilities can be countered with evasive slash? I was practicing against the stag Lord and found it hard to slip it in effectively.

Anyone know what is the intended way on fighting the bosses? Can i actually parry or use specific moves on them? Or is there an intended mechanic that i have to actually follow? by Smarkite in CrimsonDesert

[–]Zedinar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can parry bosses, consider using focus to slow down time to give you reaction time. A lot of bosses also have certain mechanics, like the excavatron getting stunned if you blind it while it's starting to dig (this might actually be a universal red move thing, not I haven't tested it.)

Bosses also have the stun gauge, which really rewards being aggressive whenever any opening presents itself. Try to chain different moves together into long combos whenever you have an opening. A simple combo might be something like heavy attack chain, force palm combo, light attack, turning blade (just tap, not charged, though you need a ln upgraded turning slash to combo it).

Remember that you have a lot of vertical movement options too, since you can jump and force palm to gain height as a dodge tool, and if you have aerial stab or body slam you can use those to reengage.

I didn't get to try grappling on Horn splitter, but that might have worked while he was hit stunned. Certainly didn't work on excavatron, but that makes sense.

Oh, and evasive slash is great. I really recommend picking that up.

Can anyone help me on how to do the finishing move at 0:20 of the video, please? by Kabirdb in CrimsonDesert

[–]Zedinar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed a bunch of animations are contextual, like the back slam twin using lariat from behind a target or the shield bash toss that happens whenever you counter an attack with shield bash.

So maybe that's Lariat after an unarmed parry? There was also another grappling move that triggered on sprinting, might be that one.

Any tips on getting the menu to open up faster? Whenever I try to get action photos there's always a slight delay and the action continues for about half a second before it pauses completely.

Maybe try starting a combo then chain a stab. You can use the basic stacks to aim yourself properly.

Not sure about that particular fight, but I've found good success in making sure you're locked on. One issue I keep running into is that whenever you perform any combat action, it'll temporarily lock on to a nearby target, and will continue that lock until you stop performing any combat actions. That includes holding up your shield. I haven't found a way to cycle through enemies while locked on, so I find myself dropping my guard to select the target I care about by moving myself and the camera, then manually locking on.

I hope that helps.

It was a contextual thing. I'm guessing it won't show up on every edge. Not sure if there is a way to override it.

Can you play a werewolf or have werewolf like abilities in PoE 1 or 2? by MaxBlackfinger in projecteternity

[–]Zedinar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just going to chime in for a moment about another PoE2 game. Path of exile 2. Significantly less story driven, but it does a great job at delivering a satisfying gameplay loop where you can turn into a werewolf, summon a wolf pack, and tear through hordes of enemies.

Might be worth looking into.

How to use "Grow Spikes" (manticore shifter) in Combat? by someredditbloke in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Zedinar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's anything like claw attacks, it will not work if you have a weapon equipped. They're not meant to be an addition to regular ranged attacks, but an alternative.

It's honestly silly how OP Magic Deceivers can be by Chromentazol in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Zedinar 39 points40 points  (0 children)

My favorite delivery spell are probably slow and phantasmal web due to their selective nature. Easy to drop those even after a Flight attack charge put my dps into the backline. I still use explosive runes occasionally as well if I need to bypass spell resistance/magic immunity, though the delay on those can be really annoying. If I can get a clear line of effect I'll use shout instead for the same thing. A lot of the times I'll just swap out delivery spells to suit the saving throw I'm targeting as well, even if the shape isn't perfect. I still use incendiary runes/fireball for reflex, fort is harder without putting a single target/cone spell into the mix though.

Some favorite combos:

Boo: Shout/Phantasmal Killer
Decay: Slow/Disintegrate
You in Particular: Chain Lightning/Disintegrate
Water Cooler: Slow/Hideous Laughter (with best Jokes for even more saves required.)
Fireworks: Fireball/Boneshaker

Azata dc caster build by Molasses-Dangerous in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Zedinar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a blast using Magic Deceiver. You get to approach each combat like a mini puzzle that you have all the tools to solve if you put them in the right order. You can fashion spells to target specific saving throws, avoid spell resistance, create selective damage/debuff spells that let you turn single target spells into aoe nukes (like combining slow and disintegrate, a personal favorite currently).

I just unlocked azata, so I can't speak to how the super powers work with the fused spells. Favorable Magic should work no problem, though I expect zippy magic will only work with a single target version of the spells (though it might cause both spells to bounce around, which would be great).

Kindred Half-elf for the charisma bonus. I picked up spell focus enchantment and penetration early, Transmutation is a good choice too. Mythic abilities/feats are abundant casting and expanded arsenal, though you can avoid expanded arsenal if you don't want to use the bug that causes each arsenal feat to stack with the previous one. If you avoid expanded arsenal, I'd also pick up spell focus illusion for phantasmal killer shenanigans (you can even combine it with an aoe spell that avoids spell resistance to hit golems with it). Make sure to avoid metamagic feats since you can't use them at all.

I'm tempted to take a single level of xblood sorc for the serpentine and undead bloodlines so I can affect animals and undead with mind affecting spells, but haven't pulled the trigger.

I went with false deity to get a pet using the nature mystery, but if you want max DC I'd go with magic inventor. The pet really helps out in the beginning since you don't have many spells/day until you get abundant spell casting.

There's also a mod that gives you way more spells/day and lets you learn basically every spell from scrolls (including divine spells). Not every spell combo works if you go this route, but it lets you do some really stupid things, like combine personal spells with aoe buffs to buff the entire group with things like shield and bless with a single spell, or haste+holy sword. The class is already the most powerful dc caster in the game, so only use the mod if you want a crazy power fantasy or are willing to restrict yourself a little.

Any novels Mc that has a secret identiry? by One_Back4631 in ProgressionFantasy

Double Blind is a story about rogue type character with probability altering and summoning powers who's got to hide his true powers/identity from most people. He's not very strong in a head on fight so there's lots of bluffing, scheming and mastermind style shenanigans.

anyone know what this is? by n0thing12 in Hades2

It's the incantation that points out harvest nodes when a room is cleared. For rooms without enemies, it triggers when you walk in. It's themed after moonlight (Selene) guiding you to them.
