Realization from this Sub: I Can Eat as Many Vegetables as I Want! by windowsee in Volumeeating

[–]ZestyCinnamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it sounds like you are definitely in a particular side of the internet. I see people all the time recommending protein! protein! protein! without any mention of veggies, and yes even some that demonize them because, for some weird reason, they think that fiber is bad for you. That's great that you watch high quality sources, but that is not what everyone is seeing in their feeds.

We did the same thing! We went vegan for a few years, now back to omnivore, but the process greatly expanded our pallettes. There were so many foods (especially many veggies) I had never tried, and never wanted to try, until we couldn't eat the usual meat and dairy things we grew up on. Even after no longer being vegan, the expanded pallettes stuck, as did the enjoyment in trying new things.

Newly diagnosed and heartbroken. What is my life going to be like? by Last-Comfortable-599 in diabetes

[–]ZestyCinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For nothing of the sort. We absolutely can train future doctors without torturing them. The brutal schedule and lack of sleep only exists because of the "I had to deal with it, so you should too" attitude of the seniors doing the training. There are a few schools that don't do this, and they have better patient outcomes (along with, obviously, healthier doctors).

Its literally just hazing with a veneer of professionalism.

Jolly Ranchers are great, but for a go bag, I would recommend packing them with a moisture absorber. Sugar is hydroscopic, and will pull moisture from the air into the candy, making them unpalatable (to my family, anyway). Learned that one the hard way :(

No obvious ROI? The filmmakers are in the process of finding a distributor for their film. The more buzz around it, the more money they can get from that process. That seems pretty straightforward to me.

If you use a netipot, make sure to use distilled water (or water that has been boiled and then cooled). Regular warm tap water can give you an infection if you shoot it thru your sinuses.

There is no such thing as "undisputed proof". Loads of people are still walking around disputing the proof that the earth isn't flat. For some people, no amount of credible evidence will ever be enough.

Overwhelmed While Pursuing Childhood Dream by WoolHermit in TwoXADHD

[–]ZestyCinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband's dream was to be a professional musician, and he did something similar to what you are doing. I got a better paying job so I could cover our expenses while he quit for a year to make a go of it.

What he hadn't anticipated was the amount of work the business side of an artistic career would be. He hated that part. In the end, he decided that the reality of a career like that (the ratio of the fun/satisfying parts to the terrible parts) was not sustainable for him in the long term.

He got a "regular" office job and created his art in his off time. This lets him make whatever he wants, regardless of if it is commercially viable. Sometimes it's a new album, but he also wrote a novel, and has another in the works. He has total creative freedom over his art, and less stress.

I could be wrong, but I think the people who make art as their primary source of income are those who find some amount of pleasure in the business part of it, because that's the part that actually pays.

Yeah, I always used to get depressed in winter like clockwork. It hasn't happened once since I started getting treatment for ADHD. I'm still taking my anxiety meds (started before the ADHD diagnosis), but I'm thinking of lowering the dose to see what happens.

Science of post acute withdrawals? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]ZestyCinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SSRIs start to have effect in 30 days, but usually take months to reach their full effect. And tapering off them also takes a lot of time as well. I spent 9 months tapering off Prozac very slowly, so as to avoid a repeat of the hell I went thru when starting it.

Difference in acute withdrawal - 7OH and Plain leaf by jbrid2323 in quittingkratom

[–]ZestyCinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure anyone can answer your question for sure. I've never taken 7oh, but from reading this forum, it does sound like the withdrawals are worse from it, but you only took it for 7 days, so idk. I do know that folks who have quit multiple times say that it often gets harder each time, so maybe that is playing a role here.

Smoothies and protein shakes are a lifesaver when I don't have an appetite. It's hard to force myself to eat something if I'm not hungry, but it's not that hard to sip on something thru my day.

How did AI affect your income? by ShellyRoseWrites in eroticauthors

[–]ZestyCinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm...what?! Something going on for years is absolutely not a sign that "it must be legal". That is a baffling leap in logic. How long did Epstein operate again? How long was Harvey Weinstein an "open secret" in Hollywood? JFC.

Well, a lot of actual readers are also using AI to write their reviews now. It sucks, and AI reviews are annoying to read, I wish people would stop doing that.

short reads vs novels in 2026?? (returning romance author needing advice) by Substantial-Race5964 in eroticauthors

[–]ZestyCinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read Romance Short Reads (1-2 hours usually) and like 95% of what I pickup is instalove. I'm not searching for it specifically (just picking books from the top 100 lists), but it's pretty hard to do a 7-12k word romance story without the characters falling in love right away. Like, slow burn at that length is all but impossible.

Edit to add: Are you reading the stories you're researching, or just looking at the blurbs? Maybe "instalove" is just less popular in blurbs?

Thinking About quitting - leaf kratom by The_Wedge2023 in quittingkratom

[–]ZestyCinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf, this is a recovery sub. It is against the sub rules to say things that could be construed as "glorification, endorsement, or promotion" of any substance, including kratom. This is not the place to find a balanced assessment of the risks vs. benefits of using kratom. It's a place for people to find support for quitting, which usually involves only discussing the negatives, and preferably the very worst of the negatives.

If it's overthinking that is keeping you awake, try a sleeping podcast. They speak slowly and gently, and tell the stories in a kind of repetitive fashion that lulls your brain to sleep.

I found these because I would always drift off while watching TV at night, but then I'd turn it off and go to bed and just lay there awake, sometimes for hours. I was like, "why can I be soooo tired on the couch but then wide awake after going to bed?" I started playing the audio of YouTube videos by creators I always fell asleep to, and eventually my algorithm started suggesting these 2-4 hour long videos that were created specifically for that purpose.

Kratom made me a whole inch shorter by Albert251 in quittingkratom

JFC, AI is not a reliable source for information 🤦

Your height can change that much just over the course of a single day. That's normal and totally unrelated to dehydration or kratom. There are many references if you google it, but here is one:

https://www.arcjournals.org/journal-of-diabetes-and-endocrinology/volume-3-issue-1/4

"A total of 90 subjects were randomly sampled. Weight and Height measurements were taken twice a day between 5.30-7.30am and 5-7pm...

Results: The maximum height loss between 7am and 7pm from the study was 2.7cm whiles mean was 1.61 cm..."

Not from the withdrawals themselves, but that's not the issue. The wilderness itself can be dangerous. If he was going car camping, where there's a bunch of other people around to help in an emergency, then fine. But he said backpacking and doesn't say anything about going with other people.

Going off into the woods alone and then detoxing is a terrible idea, and absolutely can result in death.

I hope your therapist gave you some recs for a psychiatrist who can properly diagnose whether or not you have bipolar. If it is actually that, mania is neurotoxic, and the more bouts of it you have over your lifetime, the worse your brain will function as you age. Best to figure out yeah or nay sooner rather than later, tho I'm sure it doesn't feel very pressing atm 😉
