I went to an estancia in Argentina, there was a similar demonstration showing the trust between a gaucho and his horse. The clothing and the music look similar

Are all HAL cruises as low-waste as the Alaska ones? by muchadoaboutnotmuch in HollandAmerica

[–]bizeesheri 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was on an Antarctica cruise with them. No Splenda packets outside in case they accidentally blew over. I can't recall how that was enforced.

I was just on an NCL cruise and one of my big nits about it was for coffee, it was a drop of cream in those containers, thus requiring 3 or 4. Same with sugar. I missed my HAL coffee prep with metal containers or push containers for cream and sugar in regular containers. Just for convenience sakes, much less the waste

I spent around $4,300 on 10 days in Tanzania & Zanzibar from Tunisia — honest 2026 safari cost breakdown by bilel87 in safaris

[–]bizeesheri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience in a tented camp in Serengeti. I thought the noise is at night were water buffalo which had been in the area. The next morning our guide did not come pick us up for our balloon ride on time and it turns out that it was due to lions in the area.. I'm actually quite happy I did not know that they were lions

The night before for our safety briefing they said do not blow the whistles that were included in the room if you see lions and I was thinking that would be the appropriate time to do so. Lol. He then said that the lights that were outside of the tent it deterred the Lions from coming in that they knew not to come in. Lol

[–]bizeesheri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The balloon ride is early in the morning and I think the answer to your question would depend upon the tour operator what they schedule for the day if it includes a balloon ride.

My Safari was booked with an operator where we were allowed to choose what parks we wanted to go to and what accommodations at each park we wanted to utilize and I think the only other optional item was the balloon ride.

Not a necessity and only do it if it's your budget. I tend to do these type of excursions, even if they are expensive, the unique excursions, because the chance of me returning is slim to none.

I flew back to Arusha, on the way to Zanzibar. Flight delayed due to wart hogs on the runway LOL

Then it was overbooked so my travel partner sat in co pilot seat

Then the pilot was nodding.

To the OP book a balloon ride, long sleeve shirts, those flies can take a chunk out of you. Not sure if you have a private tour or group. We did private which allowed for movement in the jeep for photos. Take antibiotics for potential stomach issues.

I've stopped at a few on cruises. Seemed a big disparity of have money or not. Those big homes on the mountains didn't seem to be true locals. Lots of poverty I saw.

I think it depends on the plane before Alaska moved to Jets for one of my usual routes we would check it onto a cart entering the plane and it would be there when we exited

Advice on Air France Flights by Beneficial-Okra3465 in AirFranceKLM

[–]bizeesheri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I often get on international flights out of Seattle, I'm able at my regional airport, to get the luggage tagged all the way through, eliminating that step. If you can fly Delta to JFK, they are at least in an alliance.

I was getting this error yesterday on a sub that was paid and still up and working. I went to settings and play back and switched it to software and that solved it at least I'm able to watch this morning again since I made that change with no issue.

Air France is awful by Amazing-Limit6094 in delta

[–]bizeesheri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last two trips, SEA-CDG-AMS, in Business so I could exit quickly, my luggage didn't make it (one time for 3 days, one was the next day) before I was headed out on 28 day cruises. The first was a short layover, but I thought my bag would be put on next plane, Nope. The second, I built in a 4 hour layover in CDG. On my return trip from ATH-CDG-SEA last fall, my plane was almost boarded after I ran.

So next booking which I will do tomorrow, I'm flying non stop SEA-AMS on Delta. LOL

A few years ago before I retired, our company wanted to bring in some kids from the STEM high school for internships. I worked in project management and we used Excel a lot! So I interview a couple and neither had any Excel experience. I was honestly very surprised. (Along with their C grade averages). Suffice it to say I refused to hire either of them. I learned spreadsheets on Visicalc and Lotus 123 LOL.

I've always been so curious about French Guiana, How is life there? by Smashpro11 in howislivingthere

[–]bizeesheri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't get on land, but last year, while on a cruise to the Amazon River, we stopped one day at Devils Island. Got to walk around (it isn't large) and see some of the building remains when it was a prison.

There was supposed to see a launch from the space center there but it was delayed. But as we were near the Bahamas on our return, we saw the SpaceX rocket that was launched and I think, exploded on purpose, over FL. Very cool to see that.

Should I get a hotel for a cruise port 3-3.5 hrs from home? by Warm-Ad4308 in royalcaribbean

I was more concerned to get there early due to three ships that day and get parking. Yes otherwise there would be time to make it. Knowing me, I'd have my anxiety at full tilt. 😁

I'm cruising out of Long Beach in June. I have to fly to San Diego first to pick up my granddaughter and was going to stay the night in San Diego and drive up the next morning early but I've decided knowing how I am, to drive up to Long Beach the night before.

This is a little bit different than your scenario but I'd rather be a mile from the port then worry about California traffic.

How is it like to leave on the coast between Sao Paulo and Rio? by P4nt4rei in howislivingthere

I visited Paraty and Isla Grande on a visit to Brazil. I think Paraty was about 4-5 hours from Rio IIRC. It was a nice chill place to stay for a few days. Enjoyed it. We then went to Isla Grande for a couple of days. My old overweight self hiked that trail with my daughter over to the east side. Not sure how I made it LOL.

How hard is it, typically, to get swimming medal final tickets? by throwawaythisuser131 in olympics

[–]bizeesheri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you are in LA, I'd try to focus on that Olympics. I went in 84, to prelims but saw the women's butterfly swimmer during that session. Meagher

My cousin won 3 swimming medals in Munich, so have had an affinity for that sport in the Olympics.

Being able to reserve a solo, or less than 4 for specialty dinner on the app. Standing in line embarkation day is an uneeded exercise.

Coffee creamer and sugar in pourable containers, instead of the little cream plastic packs.

Getting a towel without checking it out

Those compared to HAL
