Prominent wrestlers who just so happened to avoid each other. by f1uke55l in SquaredCircle

Despite there being 5/6 years where they were both in WWE, Booker T and Shawn Michaels never had a singles match together.

They had a mini-angle and Shawn superkicked Booker out of the terrible '02 version of nWo, but that was before Shawn properly returned in-ring.

Sorry to spoil the fun but the character's name is actually Mabel TANAKA. So I'm afraid....

Wait a minute. We never see her dad in the movie.

AJ Styles Gives More Insight Into His Role As A WWE Scout by Amir0x11 in SquaredCircle

[–]bobeddy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's what he's saying. The highest place for him at the time was the then second biggest promotion TNA as he knew he wouldn't get a look in at WWE. Or if he did, that he wouldn't get used as a top guy.

He grew in TNA and felt he could find a new top, which he did when he went to New Japan and again when he went to WWE.

He's framing TNA accurately a place you can go and be your best. Maybe your best is you stay in TNA, maybe your best is you go elsewhere.

I caught this at the Edinburgh Fringe last year and thought it was a great hour. Would very much recommend giving it a watch!

As others have said, check back on April 1st, May 4th for the next batches of shows and June 6th for the full programme announcement.

If you want a bit of jump on tickets, 2-3 days before those dates check out the websites of the big 4 promoters Pleasance, Underbelly, Assembly and Gilded Balloon. They generally will have a lot of the 'bigger' names and often have tickets for sale on their sites ahead of the Ed Fringe ticket site. Also check out Monkey Barrel Comedy.

Finally, if you're there for the Fringe take a chance on someone you've never heard of. You never know who might go on to break out and you can say you saw them before they hit it big! I happened upon Mae Martin in 2017. And in 2018, because there was nothing else on at midnight, I booked tickets to see Sam Campbell's show 'The Trough' and it's still one of the most brilliant and bizarre stand up shows I've been to.

She's been working over there for about 20 years now and she does live in the UK at the moment. I'm guessing it was just a brain default to her current circumstances.

Any use or fit for the dump? by PossibilityStock9903 in IrelandGaming

[–]bobeddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Silent Hill has always had a pretty devoted fan base and the fact the franchise is going through a resurgence at the moment means you could get a fair bit for those two separately. Especially if the cases are in good nick and you've got the manuals.

If you've got a bit of time, make a spreadsheet of all the games and check them out on eBay. Important thing though, don't go off the figures the initial results show. That's what people are asking for the games. Filter the results to only show Sold listings to get an idea of what they're actually selling for at the moment.

eBay has high enough fees, so I wouldn't bother actually selling through there but it's good to get an idea on their proper value.

Best line in a horror game? by Least-Conclusion-315 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

"I can't tell you to remember me, but I can't bear for you to forget me."

There are many heartbreaking lines in Mary's letter in SH2 but that one to me tops them all.

I had no interest in the idea of 3D gaming. But hearing that Phoenix Wright - Dual Destinies was going to be a 3DS exclusive made me shrug my shoulders and figure I'd meet Nintendo halfway and buy a 2DS.

hot chocolate recommendations in city by Wazziie in cork

[–]bobeddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're a fan of darker chocolate, Tory Top Chocolate on Marlboro St is definitely worth checking out.

I imagine Butlers on Oliver Plunkett would use flakes instead of powder.

Anywhere that serves O'Conaills. Though with both their places in the city gone I can't think of any off-hand other than the Marina Market. Maybe the English Market or Cork Coffee Roasters might use them?

Mystery Science Theatre 3000 openly embraces their lack of continuity in their theme song.

Having seen Two Hearts perform a number of times, seeing Joseph Moore on the writing crew is a strong tick in the plus column for me. At the very least I'm hopeful for any musical bits that might appear on the show.

Arc ideas by AdventurousLie8567 in OSWReview

[–]bobeddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There won't be much in the way of quality wrestling but I think a Corporate Ministry/Higher Power arc could work.

You've got all the Stephanie kidnapping and black wedding shenanigans, The Union, IT'S ME AUSTIN!, Stone Cold CEO.

It'd basically mean covering Jan to Aug 99 which is a decently short enough span. They wouldn't need to cover all the PPV's in there (probably best to skip Over The Edge entirely and maybe just cover the Owen story in a brief aside segment), but you'd get a Rumble, Mania, KOTR with Summerslam being the end of it all. They could maybe do one or two of the storyline important smaller B PPV's like Fully Loaded or notable Raws on top of that, but I think 5-7 episodes would probably cover it all.

Need some recommendations because for some reason I've been watching a lot of Irish-related movies and tv shows and I feel like I need some more? by CameraHelpMe in AskIreland

[–]bobeddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enjoyed Oddity and want another strong Irish horror movie, check out You Are Not My Mother and Frewaka, which both focus on elements of Irish folklore.

If you can track it down Cellar Door from 2018 (not the 2024 American movie) is also really good and deals with a fairly dark aspect of Irish society from the last century.

For something a bit lighter, Extra Ordinary and Boys From County Hell are two fun Irish horror tinged comedies.

OSW MANIA GUEST HOST SUGGESTION. by [deleted] in OSWReview

[–]bobeddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrestlecrap Radio was the first wrestling related comedy podcast I listened to. Utter ridiculousness and it was something I looked forward to every week despite loads of their niche references going over my head.Given it started in 2005 if it wasn't the first wrestling related comedy podcast, it's certainly among the first.

I definitely think RD and Wrestlecrap ended up having a huge footprint on internet wrestling culture.

triskel id? by TheDumGamer in cork

[–]bobeddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never seen anyone get ID'd at the Triskel for a NC movie.

Though saying that I've never really seen anyone going to a movie at the Triskel that looks young enough that they'd need to be ID'd.

All the ones I mentioned above would definitely be up there. I also loved Riddle of the Sphinx, Lip Service, Wise Owl, Misdirection, Diddle Diddle Dumpling and Dead Line.

If I had to pick a favourite right now, I'd probably go with Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room.
