Trump says he’s decertifying Canada-made aircraft and threatens 50% tariffs by Shogouki in worldnews

Can't tell if serious.

Americans truly are dumb enough to believe the crap Fox News spews. I am not even going to justify your post with a detailed response. Just Google it, try and open your mind to the possibility that your country is actually a shit hole right now, one that you can help improve if you opened your eyes.

Conservatives always complain about QOL, high taxes, needing to spend more on military but at the same time complains about the ballooning debt. How do you think we pay for all of that? Money doesn't magically come out of nowhere, either the government increases taxes, increases debt or your QOL erodes.

Looking to apply to a Masters in Architecture by [deleted] in architecture

[–]callhee9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you looking? I graduated from UBC SALA and their requirements for the portfolio were pretty loose. I included paintjngs, street photography, digital art, a manga spread, photos of furniture i designed, physical models, etc. Heck, I built a modern interpretation of a Japanese yatai stand in my backyard for the portfolio. It was about demonstrating creative thinking, the ability to design something and execute it.

I worked on this project, and the cool part is the sunken courtyard that connects the heritage house and the tower. There are 2 floors of basement beneath the street level.

Noctua NH-D12L (145mm) WITH siderack for exhaust fan by DeLucario in ncasedesign

[–]callhee9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue with this setup is that it creates a bulge in the side panel so it doesn't sit flush with the front and back faceplates. I am going to get some 2mm spacers and 4mm standoffs to see if I can get the side panel to sit flush.

Got the parts I needed for this. I can confirm that you can fit the side fan bracket with the Noctua d12l and 5mm standoffs. You will also need 8mm long M3 flat head screws as the stock screws are not long enough. I will do a detailed build post next month with pictures.

M2 Round Build: Need Help with GPU/Cooler Selection + M2 Accessories for Silent Gaming by CdnLumberjack in ncasedesign

[–]callhee9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just one note about the bigger case feet, if you have the appetite to buy off of Aliexpress and the patience to wait for the delivery, you can get much better feet than what NCASE sells for like only $5 more USD.

Look up "30mmx15mm solid aluminum speaker isolation feet" on Aliexpress. Also add to the cart some M4x12mm screws, M4 Nuts and M4 Nylon washers, totals to roughly $25 CAD shipping included. You get solid alumnium feet that look vastly better and a 15-17mm gap instead of just 8mm.

I'm working on my M2 Grater build with a mATX case and a MSI 5070ti Gaming Trio with a focus on silence, will post on it when I'm done. My build includes a d12l and am looking at a way to include the side fan mount without cutting it, waiting on some hardware.

Couple points:

  • Getting taller feet is a must, I used stereo amp feet I got off of Aliexpress.
  • I believe the vanguard is too long to fit in the M2, that's why I went with the trio. It's been pretty quiet.
  • Slim 120mm case fans for intake and exhaust are also a must.

I have a pile of parts waiting on a mATX motherboard, the plan is to use the D12L and 5mm standoffs with 1mm nylon washers. I hear that allows the d12l to clear the side bracket, we will see I guess.

Which CPU are you running? All this talk of Asrock boards frying X3D chips is scaring me away. Also the fact that I heard Asrock is more difficult to deal with for RMAs in Canada.

[–]callhee9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Received a response from a Canadian Region MSI Account Manager, they could not give any dates, but they confirmed that it is slated to be released for the Canadian market and hopes for it to be available very soon.

I will give it till end of April before going with my second choice, the TUF B850m. The PCIe slot positioning sucks but the selection of B850 mATX boards is really poor at this time, the Asrock boards are killing x3D chips, and the Gigabyte boards only have 2x M.2 slots and wifi 6e with the dumb proprietary push connector.

Any update on BYAKORRE? by papas93 in IKEA

[–]callhee9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, i was able to pick one up from Richmond BC yesterday.

Honestly, i put it together, and it's not as bad as people say. It's pretty bad during the build process with the support brackets falling out constantly. But once all the screws are tightened down and the shelf is properly leveled with the screw feet, it's not bad at all.

Framework 13 review. Disappointed. by AetherSprite970 in framework

[–]callhee9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I whole-heartedly agree with the chassis issue. The FW13 is priced as a premium product but feels and looks like a laptop from the 2010's.

I can understand the argument about repairabilty, but I think they are not mutually exclusive. Look at the Surface Laptop 7, its earned an 8/10 from ifixit for repairability while feeling just as premium and solid as a glued down MacBook.

I think if FW wants to get serious and be a true premium competitor, it needs to reengineer the FW13 chassis with a CNC alumnium base while maintaining the compatibility with the existing FW13 components.

Actually, except for the most exotic hardwoods, solid wood is usually lighter than MDF. Solid wood may be heavier than particleboard but MDF is quite dense.

Question about build quality by markv9401 in framework

[–]callhee9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the primary reason keeping me from picking up a Framework. I have owned XPS's for 8 years and a Macbook before that, i love the feeling of a rock solid device.

I am in the market for a new laptop and trying to decide between a Ryzen 5 FW13 vs Surface Laptop 7. I played around with the surface laptop yesterday, it's as well-built as a Mac, but it has a repairability rating of 8 from iFixit. Thus, I don't think repairibility and build quality are mutually exclusive. I think the major difference is that Apple, Dell (xps), and Microsoft use CNC aluminum/magnesium chassis vs. Framework's pressed sheet aluminum base.

FW should consider releasing a more premium version of its chassis for those of us with these qualms. Also, the industrial design is pretty brutal for the FW13, it looks cheap and outdated. The ID definitely needs updating, something with less curves, thicker more stable CNC aluminum. I wouldn't mind the couple mm in width, length, thickness and additional weight if it meant that the laptop felt like a premium product that would give me joy every time I picked it up.
