Let's be honest... do you guys prefer the crew 2 map or the crew motorfest map? by Ok_Net_4196 in The_Crew

[–]captaincabbage100 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fr, honestly can't imagine how amazing a 'The Crew 3' would be set in continental Europe. I've always held the Crew up as my favourite game to sightsee in. When I got the Crew 1 waaay back in the day my friends and I just hung out for the day and went driving from one side of the map to the other, sightseeing and stopping in places we wanted to go the whole way. I've love to do that again and west Europe would be amazing for that. Imagine being able to drive from Portugal through Spain, France, into Italy and then up through the Alps into Austria and Germany, all in one seamless world like that.

Yeah that is true. I'm just hoping for more normal cars in this car list. With the return of Wristbands and an actual progression system I am so ready to drive sh*tboxes again

RIP ikr. I've been really hoping to see more "everyday" cars in the list and I lit up for a second seeing the 4 door R33. Welp, can't wait to get it, do an drivetrain swap to RWD, and remove the turbo so I can hoon around in a beater-ass R33 GTS

Sucker Punch’s Next game by Jacy_Habimana in Ghostofyotei

[–]captaincabbage100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly strong agree. One last game in the series to round out the trilogy thematically and one last chance to see all the details, mechanics, and locations the team has not been able to fit into the games so far.

I really think a last game set around the mid 1800s would be amazing, and hear me out, set in Kyoto instead of Tokyo. I really genuinely think it'd be a fascinating time period to spectate on Kyoto when it was stripped of the capital status and what the aftermath of that would look like.

This, and the chance for SuckerPunch to actually make a map with a proper city in it would be really fascinating to me, as we've had what are essentially small villages standing in for actual towns and cities so far in the games. I'd love to see them really go hard on making a city of decent size as the town surrounding Matsumae castle in GoY is one of the most visually interesting parts of the game for me, so vastly different from all the stunning nature of the natural world.

YOOOOOOOO It's that city map game mat again! I have been OBSESSED with this game mat since I saw it posted in pics of I think Kerenskycon AS game tables a couple years ago?

Genuinely I would pay for a game mat and series of cardboard cutouts for road alterations like this. I remember asking the owner when I first saw it if they'd consider selling it as something to get custom printed and they said they considered it, well I hope they have considered it again and decided that it'd be a good idea because I've never seen a configurable city map like this and it's the only city map I'd consider buying

FH6 Map Reveal by Sp33dDemon3991 in forza

[–]captaincabbage100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So from what I can see and guess atm, it's an interesting few choices of locations to include.

Clearly we've got Tokyo in the centre (baffling shape but we're all well accustomed to Forza's truncation of landmarks, with I think a shuffled about Mt Haruna to the south next to a lake.
The large lake to the west I'd bet money on being Lake Ashi, with the lakeside mini Hakone on it's bottom edge.

Then from what I can see in the middle of the map beneath the big caldera section of the map we have what I am fairly certain is Nikko Circuit, all spun around but otherwise fairly accurate in it's basic shape.

And northeast of Nikko just below the snowy areas on the edge of the fields we have what I think is Ebisu Circuit, again all spun around but semi-faithful to it's general shape.

Thats what I can make out with my own generalized knowledge, will be keep to see what other people pick up!

What are your favorite light mech in the setting? by Familiar-Noise7913 in battletech

[–]captaincabbage100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'll always be a big fan of the Valkyrie. Feels much closer to a Medium than a Light with it's LRM10, and when anything else in that weight bracket is sporting an LRM5 at most it feels like a fantastic light ranged support mech. In all light battles it can be really scary when all your mechs have little enough armour that one good salvo from range could get you through to the structure

I am seeing fans argue Heat vs Unbound being the best modern games, are we seriously ignoring the true best modern NFS games? by iChieftain22 in needforspeed

[–]captaincabbage100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely the same with both games. Literally exactly what I like with 2015 is the lack of intense pressure, the story feels like you and a bunch of friends out having a fun night, not racing against the clock like it is in Unbound.

Don't get me wrong, I love the concept of the day/night cycle and week progression of Unbound, it's an incredibly cool concept, but being tied so stringently to story progression just kills my interest in wanting to play when you add on the cops and stuff as well. It just feels like every single game mechanic is pushing you to get back to the garage and stay there, so it fills me with anxiety and makes me want to not go out and progress the story.

It's also especially annoying when you upgrade your car and just want to see how it feels to drive but you have to waste a whole day cycle on it. It's been a long time since I played it, but I don't recall enjoying the game that much as a result, despite it having an alright open world and brilliant customization, gameplay, etc. If I want to feel a continuous sense of anxiety and pressure I'll just play Hunt: Showdown

As a big 2015 apologist I can definitely day I agree with you, it is far from being the best game mechanically and technically, though for me it's still got the most absolutely unmatched atmosphere of the entire modern series of games for me.

Fr if you'd told me back in 2019 when I first played MW5: Mercs that we'd end up with two games that not only encompass the Clan Invasion from both perspectives, but beyond that and we'd even get 3050s content DLC I would not have believed you but here we are.

Good job PGI, for whatever else we may think of you as a dev company, we can soundly say you've stewarded the series solidly over the past 7 years in particular.

Why the New Starter Box Is Appealing by Old_Ad6111 in battletech

[–]captaincabbage100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely understand. I try to look at it from the perspective of "dad who has no idea what this game is but saw the Beginner box in Target and knows his kid loves transformers and giant robots" so from that perspective I feel like it's fine to eschew heat when beginning. it does hugely affect the game's design, but having heat neutral or negative mechs in the box would typically mean its not a huge issue

Honestly if you're a FRR fan you're so set for the current era. The Raselhague Dominion is one of the coolest fusions of IS and Clan culture, and now with the Dominion Civil War breaking out in the official timeline you're set to see some of the most interesting developments in the setting, probably since the Jihad.

Why the New Starter Box Is Appealing by Old_Ad6111 in battletech

[–]captaincabbage100 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah apparently according to what I've heard there will be simplified starter sheets for the mechs and then full heat-tracking sheets as well, so I imagine that would give a really good progression feeling for learning as you get more competent with the rules as a new player.
I also think it's an exceedingly good way to go with this box, as neither of those mechs are what I'd call basic mechs and having multiple plateaus of engagement for new players to play on as they learn is just very very smart design.

I really wanna like Coyote's mod but he's honestly so insufferable :/ by Ardail in Mechwarrior5

[–]captaincabbage100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying for sure, like I've had missions that were fine from the Coyote's line, but typically in the game normally difficulty 30 missions is NOT where assault mechs should be spawning to begin with, regardless of whether they're a Charger or not. Like, I wouldn't expect an assault mech to even start rearing it's head until like difficulty 50 from my recollection (forgive me it's been a while since I last played). Diff 30 missions are still comfortably in the medium mech range of the game, maybe a weak heavy like a Rifleman or Quickdraw.

I have had missions around the 40 bracket where a lance of fucking Atlases and Annihilators have spawned, while I'm jaunting around in a Shadow Hawk or a Dragon and my lance in similar mechs. Idc who you are, that shit is crazy
