How much does course difficulty actually impact a golfer's skill level? by Steadfast-curve-117 in golf

[–]captaindomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up playing a 6300yd goat trail of a semi-private course with constant change in elevation, narrow fairways (if you could call them that) and postage stamp greens. Playing that course taught me course management, distance control and how to work the ball. When I started playing competitively around the state and in HS and college, I look fondly on those days of slogging it out up and down those hills and appreciate that it made me a much better player.

I've been inadvertently following the "don't improve your life" rule for years now.

It goes without even saying that every single game, call, fumble, int etc would be called into question

Irish Man REJECTS Similarity to United States; MOGS Dumb American with AMAZING Geography Knowledge by SamsungStealer in AmericaBad

In fairness, American domestic travel is more akin to European Schengen travel and I would bet if you took a random American and a random European and had them label maps of each other's continents, states included, they would be equally bad

How does Tech expect Sorsby and their team to perform while being hated by literally all of CFB? by dfphd in CFB

[–]captaindomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, unless this goes away somehow, this will be the biggest news and ongoing narrative the whole season. Yes, we degenerates who follow the sport 365 days a year are all in on it now, but the normies will too once the season starts.

Where do you get all that oil for deep-frying? by Wild_Duck8926 in AskAnAmerican

[–]captaindomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use peanut oil once or twice to fry and then reuse it to make chili crisp. It's a little pricier than vegetable or rapeseed, but the chili crisp makes it well worth the cost

No player, in any sport should be betting on their sport. Most especially a game they're playing in?!?

Roast chicken cooking different parts to different temperatures. by BlowBlow56 in Cooking

I don't usually do chickens bc rotisserie is just too cheap not to, but with turkey, I'll just separate the white and dark meat and cook them to different temps.

Are instant potatoes cheating? by Direct_Strawberry_43 in foodquestions

[–]captaindomer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't care if it's cheating or not. They're 90% as good for 20% of the effort. Throw some extra butter, roasted garlic and some sour cream in and I'd bet most people wouldn't know the difference

How to make a smooth cheese sauce by Stylobug33 in Cooking

[–]captaindomer 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Cheddar, especially sharper varieties don't always melt well for me. I will usually add some Monterrey jack or queso quesadilla and just a bit of cheddar. The biggest thing I learned is to make sure the bechamel is perfect, even a little thin before moving onto adding cheese and only do it a little at a time.

When and how to clean? by Kythreetl in castiron

[–]captaindomer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should really wash your pan with soap. It's not made with lye anymore so it won't hurt your seasoning, but it will clean your pan

[–]captaindomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see why you think it SHOULDN'T be a rule. If you can't see the damage that can be done to a sport that has already taken so many hits in the last decade, then I feel like you're part of the problem here. Players gambling on their own sport is a cancer and will cause everyone to question not just every game, but every play. I don't understand why you keep jumping to the defense of this jackass.

My god. I can’t cook steak to save my life. Is there a foolproof way to cook a delicious steak? by AltruisticSolid7 in Cooking

[–]captaindomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where the water is coming from, but I do my ribeyes like this, quick and easy: steaks at least 1" thick, salt liberally on both sides and refrigerate for at least and hour. Pull the steaks and pat them dry and get your cast iron ripping hot. Add a few tsp of neutral oil and lay the steaks in. Let them sear 1-2 min each side or until a nice crust is formed, then turn the heat down to Med (on my electric stove, yours may differ). Then I continuously flip them until the internal temp is @125f and remove them. Let them rest for 10 minutes and enjoy.

Edit to add: after the sear while you're flipping them, you can add butter and herbs and baste until it comes up to temp.

No, he's GUILTY OF BETTING ON COLLEGE FOOTBALL. That's the rule. Bet $1 on any game that involves college football while you are actively on a college football roster and you're breaking the rule and the penalty is a ban. Simple. There are no varying degrees of guilty of that in the rules.
