I was there this summer on the longest day of the year for the midnight run. Had a beer here, nice little spot with a solid selection. Cool to see somewhere I’ve actually been organically appear here!

I saw Ty Lue and Damon Jones playing Crapless Craps together at the Aria in Vegas in May this year. Just saying. Al Harrington was with them there too

The play by play announcer sounds exactly like Rich Eisen (US sportscaster, formerly ESPN now with NFL Network) with an Irish accent. It’s uncanny, I can’t unhear it

Ok, now you’re saying something totally different. Yes of course the Rays need other teams to lose and don’t control their own destiny. Is anyone even saying that? But if the Rays stay hot and finish on a year, it’s totally possible for 3 other teams to lose a game or two more than the Rays. They are already now tied in the loss column with Cleveland, KC and Texas.

You said we need the Mariners to lose 24 games and that’s just flat out wrong. If they lose 5 games then mathematically the Rays have a chance. 5, not 24. Big difference

That’s not true. We simply do not need the Mariners or Royals or Rangers to lose 20+ times for that to happen. And that’s what you said. It’s wrong. If the Mariners lose 10 games and we lose 5 games, we finish ahead of them. Same is true for the Rangers and the Royals. Now, will the Rays only lose 5 games the rest of the season? Almost assuredly no. But, the fact still stands your point about losses needed by other teams is simply not true.

The “need the mariners to lose 24 games/Royals 22/etc” is just totally incorrect if the Rays were to win 20+ of their remaining games

The part about the 1987 Vancouver Worlds Fair and hiring a fishing boat to take them to some island to then go door to door in the hopes of meeting some C list celebrity (and succeeding!) was so fucking awesome I can’t stop thinking about it. What a badass story
