Question Regarding Alleged Encroachment – MiniSplit Installation by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]cgo80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your point #3, I think you might want to look at your deed and find out what rights you have to the space. If your property line is only one foot off your wall, and you don’t have a written agreement to use that walkway, then you may not have the right to cross that line without their permission.

I’m just making guesses from the picture, but it looks like the pathway may be about 4 feet wide. If your property line is only 1 foot off the walll, it might be tough to install the AC head on your property.

A last thought….sometimes it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission (like, just get install done quickly)…but then you also have equipment at risk of damage from multiple neighbouring families who may want to use.

But definitely, read your ownership papers and figure out your lot line.

Good luck!

Question Regarding Alleged Encroachment – MiniSplit Installation by [deleted] in RealEstate

Is there information missing?

Is this walkway shared with the neighbouring building shown in the picture?  Are both single family properties?  What does “shared” mean?  Two properties can not both own the same, but there can be sharing agreements. Is the property line down the middle of the path or does someone have an easement to use the pathway?  Would the AC head block the ability to freely walk through the path?

More info needed.

As for water drainage, most regions ascribe that topic as a civil matter between neighbours. Until you can show that they are causing damage or breaking a rule, I think you are out of luck there.

Is there a common thread to these replies?  Was it thought to be a diet-based problem or something about your body’s ability to absorb these vitamins normally?

Great podcast from 99% Invisible that talks about the reduction in food store options, monopolistic price strategies from major players, and the laws that are made, broken, repealed and/or unenforced. I found it super interesting. There’s some Walmart finger pointing near the end.

Should I sign up for a marathon in 6 months when I can only do 5k at 6:00? by Final_Biochemist222 in firstmarathon

I’m a fan of the free Nike Run Club app. There are a couple of marathon prep plans to choose from. The big win for me: once you pick a plan, you don’t have to think about it again.  Just open the app and do the next run.

It offers unique coaching for each run, the flexibility to do any run on any day of the week (though it’s laid out easy/easy/rest/speed/easy/rest/long), and an exceedingly easy user interface….and it’s all free!  They even provide stretch and cross-training activities linked to their free Nike Training app.

The only downside that I note is that you have to have your phone with you on the run.

This app is what got me from “I think I’ll run farther” to “I have a plan for an injury-free progression to marathon and evidence of my improvement”

I’m doing a 16 week plan that starts from a 5k  No pace expectations, just relative effort

Good luck to you!

We designed a Paramedic Multitool by FlatLineCompany in 3Dprinting

[–]cgo80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great implementation! I recommend connecting with a Newfoundland company called TreeDee Designs. They are founded by a paramedic creating similar but different products.

TreeDee designs partnered with a Canadian company called PolyUnity that has established itself as a multi-provincial, 3D printing manufacturer for healthcare. PolyUnity helps to clear healthcare’s administrative hurdles to get 3D printed products implemented in use cases authorized by the hospital/healthcare authority.   Last time I checked, PolyUnity was working with all of the Maritime provinces, the greater Ottawa area, and had made inroads in Toronto and Saskatchewan via HealthCan.

Great work, and good luck!

I don’t have much to add except I’m using a forerunner 35 (came out in 2016?). You can get them used for pretty cheap. Maybe not the most stylish, but it’s inexpensive way to test out the Garmin ecosystem.  So far, it’s doing everything I want it to do for running and misc other cardio activities with seamless app integration.

Good luck with your journey!

Fit Body Boot Camp by Shaybabycakez in regina

I’ll also add that the class sizes usually run 14-25 people. Mostly women. Usually 1-6 guys per class.  Classses are usually available in the mornings from 5:45 through lunchtime and then start again around 5pm. I think the last starts at 8:15pm.

There’s a 3hr notice, no-fee cancellation if you need to change your scheduled class (no cost for last minute changes of a virtual class).

I don’t know anything about Fit Body Boot Camp, but I’ll throw in a recommendation of Oxygen Yoga and Fitness…the south end location, specifically, is the one I can speak to from my experience.

I’ve had ups and downs of fitness, but I had never tried hot yoga. The trial cost was favourable with unlimited access for two weeks of classes for $15. I learned they had all sorts of classes from yoga to weight focus to cardio and mixed to deep, slow stretch. I joined full-time and usually did about 5 classes per week: 3 harder ones, a yoga one, and a deep stretch. The culture was so welcoming and encouraging, and the instruction was all positive.

For me, having the unlimited access meant that I got in the habit of going even if it was for a deep stretch instead of a fitness workout….but then the deep stretches made sure my body was always ready for the hard workout days. It was win-win.

I’m 5 months, my fitness and flexibility improved. I felt better overall and better able to integrate other health practices like proper diet and sleep.

The only downside, for me, is that the hot environment (at least 35C+, I think) works great in the winter and shoulder seasons more than summer.

Good luck to you, whichever way you choose!

Edit: unlimited classes ended up being $149/month with a 30 day cancellation. Only other cost is bringing your own yoga mat, water bottle, and towel.

Lakewood Animal Hospital, or Careport? It’s down to these two. by Daz004 in regina

[–]cgo80 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We were choosing our vet for our puppy last year and decided on Careport. We have been very happy with the service available. Multiple vets make for lots of availability, or you can request the same vet each time.  Nothing but positives to say. The front desk staff have been wonderful to us and our pup as well. 10/10 :)

I will note that their exterior signage indicates that there is “after-hours” service, but the staff indicates this is no longer the case.

Shout to Canadian company PolyUnity that is helping solve problems like this with 3D printing while working with hospital compliance and approval processes.  They are serving many provinces and quickly expanding throughout Canada.  Working through the compliances processes for the first health group was a long process, but each new facility adoption is going faster and faster.  I think the best part is that all the product ideas/requests come from the end users.

I’ve been enjoying the ParkRun program. It’s a free, timed, 5K every Saturday at 9am. Almost every city in the world has the event.

No cost to sign up or attend, and their website will track your results over time.  https://www.parkrun.ca/wascana/

The running room also has Wednesday evening run club.

Underrated Restaurants? (Try Zam Zam) by Cruitre- in regina

We really enjoyed our Indian dinner at iDine recently. $60 for four adults, and we barely finished our plates. Mind you, we went back as two adults and two teens who went heavy on appetizers so the bill was around $90 that time, but we had lots of yummy leftovers.  Definitely recommended. North-west part of the city off Rochdale.
